Sisters 'Condition' Is Common To Women DEAR ANN LANDERS: I had not seen my sister in three years. She is 40 years old and her two children arc grown. When Erma and her husband met me the airport I was shocked to sec that she had gotten so heavy.

Immediately I concluded she was pregnant and I said so. She became furious and shouted, "You are out of your mind! I have a thyroid condition but it's under control now." I stayed a week and we had a pleasant time. Erma took pills in my presence and kept a doctor's appointment, but she didn't talk any more about her thyroid condition. I left Madison on Tuesday. The following Friday I received a telegram from Erma.

It read, "Guess who gave birth to an eight-pound boy!" I'm burned up because my sister lied to me. Why would person do such a crazy thing? Surely she knew I'd learn the truth eventually. Help me understand. I am --Baffled and Boiling DEAR BAFF: 1 suspect your 40-year-old sister was less than thrilled when she learned she was pregnant. Her refusal to make the announcement spared her the embarrassment of discussing her condition.

As soon as the hot 'weather set in, my nose began to swell. Then I got this whistle in it. It drives my wife crazy and I don't blame her. I can hardly stand it myself. The problem is much worse at home than in the office.

It starts in July and disappears in September. But for six weeks I am persona non grata. Even the dog shuns me. I went to a doctor and he couldn't find anything wrong which is understandable because when I went to him my nose was not swollen and there was no whistle. Can you advise me? -Off Key DEAR OFF: It sounds as you might be allergic to a lare summer weed that grows around your bouse.

NINE Pollys Pointers By POLLY CRAMER Use Frame Of Outgrown Gym Set For Porch Swing Polly't Problem DEAR POLLY I rotate wearing ef six pairs, of shoes because of sore toit and athlete's foot and am having trouble with mold in the shoes.

Our home Ii air- conditioned and I keep bags to prevent meld hanging In the clostti but the mold forms. Can anyone give me a Pointer for removing mold from shoes? DEAR POLLY My answer is for Hose, who wants to change her sheets to fit a king-sized bed. The following is the way my mother did mine: Split one GSxlOfl-inch twin- sized sheet lengthwise and sew one half to each of two 81xl08-ineh double sheets (we had them). These converted top sheets are almost king- sized and more than ample. However, we are still faced the problem of fitted bottom sheets.

-ROSEMARY DEAR POLLY Rose could widen her sheets for her king-sized bed as did. to make the sheets wider, I split them in half from top to foot and sewed in each a length from a discarded sheet that was as wide as needed, using a shirt seam for a flat finish. I also made my sheets semicontour. After replacing the wide hem with one of shirttail width. I laid the sheet on the bed and folded hem and side together and sewed across this, which left a folded, triangle on the under side and it was then cut off.

I made these at the top on bottom sheets and at the bottom of top sheets and it keeps them both in place. -JAN1E (Photo by Linda Miner) MRS. Washington County's tourist spots attract lots of tourists but not the kind the nation's largest film producer wants. Darrell Wurster, who is paid to hunt new industries here (he's director of the Economic Development Commission) was asked to show two photographs from Eastman Kodak around historic places in the county. The photographers wanted pictures of people taking pictures of themselves at places like Antictam Battlefield, the Jonathan Hager House and Fort Frederick. Wurster agreed to be tour guide and spend two days with the Kodak photographers.

Kodak was after photogenic families. You know the kind, where mom models toothpaste ads in her spare time, dad is trim and Ivy League and the i preferably a boy and a girl, are neat and bubbly, the kind first grade teachers dote on. of themselves. But they were rare and Wurster was getting a little bored with waiting around for toothpaste smiles. So Wurster got his wife and two youngsters and brought them along.

Apparently satisfied, Kodak men left and Wurster went back tn thp office FOR THE A New Mobile Home from SCHAFF'S! BEAUTIFUL!
