She was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Cheboygan, Mich, and had been a lifelong area resident.

She married Charles R. Groh Dec. 31, 1936, in Detroit. He died July 4, 1979. Mrs.

Groh graduated from Port Huron High School in 1935. She was a licensed practical nurse in the Newborn Nursery at Port Huron Hospital from 1956 to 1978. She is survived by a son, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L.

(Janet) Groh of Sanford; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David (Nancy Trevarrow of Oakland, four grandchildren, Nancy E. Vance of Fort Myers, Thomas Trevarrow, William Trevarrow and Beth Trevarrow all of Oakland; great grandson, Garrett Vance of Fort Myers, three sisters, Mr. and Mrs.

Louis (Dorothy) Sattler of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. Duane (Francis) Robison of Waycross, Ga. and Mr. and Mrs.

Robert (Virginia) Miller of Port Huron; three brothers, Richard Cooley of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. William (Dorothy) Coley of Tustin, Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton (Jenny) Cooley of Keller, Texas; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Trevarrow Aug. 11, 1972. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev.

Canon D. Roy Lees, rector emeritus, will officiate. His marriage to Alice Bleau was Aug. 23, 1947, in Port Huron.

Mr. Kinney was a former employee of Dunn Paper and Port Huron Sulfate (now the E.B. Eddy Co.) and retired from Pontiac Motors as a pipefitter in 1980 after 26 years of service. He served his country for three years in World War II with the VS. Army in North Africa and Italy in a tank battalion.

He fought in nine major campaigns and received five Bronze Stars, one Silver Star and a Distinguished Unit Badge from President Truman. He was a charter member and past commander (1973 to 1974) of the Gleason-Butler VFW Post 5585 in Emmett, was a parishoner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and a third degree member of Fr. Farrell Knights of Columbus 7819. Surviving in addition to his wife, Alice, are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Darlene of Emmett; a son, Richard of Port Huron; daughters and sons-in-law, Nell and Daniel Schmidt of Emmett, Kathryn and Duane Robison of Marysville, Mary Therese and Richard Herriman and Karen and Daniel Taylor of Port Huron and Joanne and Todd Kowalkowski of Deerfield, grandchildren, Patrick, Gregory and Jaime Kinney, Scott and Jason Schmidt, Kerrie and Jaime Robison, Becky, Brian and Stacy Herriman, Nicole and Jessica Kinney, Lauren and Jacob Taylor and Tyler Kowalkowski; three sisters, Sister Mary Kinney IHM, Lucy Renno and Margaret Kinney; brothers, John and Michael L. and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald, a sister, Rita Tipa, two infant sisters and nephews, Bill Kinney and Larry Schneider. Funeral Mass is 1 1 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Emmett. The Rev. Jasper Sirianni, pastor, will officiate.

Visiting is 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Kaatz Funeral Home in Avoca. A parish scripture service is 8 p.m. Sunday.

Graveside military honors will be conducted in our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery by VFW Post 5585. May IJ. Thrall SANDUSKY May B. Thrall, 85, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1993, in McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky.

She was born May 22, 1908, in Sandusky. She married Lawrence Carley Jan. 25, 1926. He passed away March 10, 1940. She married Syrenus Thrall Feb.

25, 1950, in Angola, Ind. He passed away Jan. 20, 1989. Mrs. Thrall was a home-maker.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Donna) Law of North Branch; three sons, William Carley of Fort Wayne, Keith Carley of Mariette and Richard Carley of Fairview; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Erva Marling of Florida; two brothers, Rhu McCarty of Utica and Russell McCarty of Bloom-field Hills; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Harrison and a brother, Carl McCarty. Services are 1 p.m. Sunday in the Hacker Funeral Parlors in Sandusky.

The Rev. Mike Pringle, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Sandusky will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Sandusky. Visiting is 2 to 9 p.m. today.

Ruth Olson Baer Clifford PORT HURON Ruth Olson Baer Clifford, 81, of Port Huron and a longtime resident of Grosse Pointe Park, died Saturday, July 31, 1993, at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron after a brief illness. Born in Detroit, she was a graduate of Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Clifford was a charter member and past president of Jenny Lind Club of Detroit, a member of the Detroit Swedish Council, Immanuel Lutheran Church, P.E.O., Black River Country Club and Cove Cay Country Club in Clearwater, Fla. Mrs. Cliffod served as a Red Cross instructor during World War II and continued hospital volunteering thoughout the years at Bon Secour Hospital in Grosse Pointe and Mercy Hospital in Port Huron. Her primatry interests were her heritage and her family.

She devoted much of her time and energy to perpetuating the Swedish culture and served in many capacities to foster it. She is survived by her husband, F. King Clifford of Port Huron; two daughters, Karen Crosby of Port Huron and Marilyn Hemmeter of Wilmette, and two sons, George James Baer II. of Grosse Pointe and Richard Baer of Concord, N.H. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug.

3, 1993, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Detroit. Memorials may be made to Bon Secours Hospital, Cadieux Road in Grosse Pointe in care of the George James Baer Memorial Operating Room or to Port Huron Lodge A.M., 927 Sixth Street, Port Huron, Mich. 48060 or to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Chandler Park Drive. Elsa Howard PORT HURON Mrs. Elsa Howard, 90, died Thursday, Aug.

5, 1993, in Port Huron after a long illness. She was born Nov. 6, 1902, in Port Huron. She married Wesley F. Howard Aug.

18, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio. He died March 2, 1959. Mrs. Howard was a supervisor with Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 33 years and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Joyce McDougall of Clearwater, two grand-daugters, Mr. and Mrs. John (Linda) Krumpter of Long-wood, Fla. and Mr. and Mrs.

Dempster (Carol) Wheeler of Treasure Island, a sister, Helen Jehl of Port Huron; several nieces and nephews. Services are 2 p.m. Monday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Edwin G.

Men-denhall of St. John't United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visiting is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

6, 1993, in his home.
