died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 in Mercy Hospital after a long illness. He was born July 28, 1943 in Yale, Michigan. He married Bonnie Peters on November 13, 1964 in Yale. They moved to Kimball Twp. and have lived there since.

He retired from New Haven Foundry after 27 years of service. Clifford enjoyed playing lead guitar in his family's band. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and carpentry. He will be missed by his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Preston of Kimball; three daughters, Penney (Jim) Williams of Port Huron, Connie (Arlin) Hall of Kimball, and Lisa Preston of Port Huron; a son, Christopher (Sherri) Preston of Fort Gratiot; ten grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday in the Smith Family Funeral Home North, 1525 Hancock with Evangelist Harold Hastings officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Memorial Cultural Center Cemetery in Peck. Pallbearers will be Larry Peters, Wayne Weaver, Vernon Preston, Eldon I Preston James Williams, and Pat Stephens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Cribbs and Thom Klebba.

Friends may visit at the funeral home today from 2 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family. She is survived by a niece, Patricia (Richard) Williams; two nephews, Thomas (Cheryl) Howe and Scott (Beth) Howe; and several cousins.

Lewis, 76, of Chiefland, FL passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2005. He was born October 19, 1928 to Frank and Eron Lewis Lansing, MI and grew up in Detroit. He was a China Township resident for many years and served as a township trustee before moving to Florida in 1979. He enjoyed his horses, bullriding and rodeos, traveling and geneology research. He spent many hours in libraries and courthouses going through records putting together a very complete family history.

He had also traveled by car to the majority of the 50 states in the U.S. Jack is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Hall of Waleska, GA; son-in-law, Ron Tompkins of Tallahassee, FL; granddaughters, Katie (Pete) Hoffman of Canton, GA, Becky Hall of Albany, NY, Laura Lewis-Tompkins of Tallahassee, daughter FL; Emily and Hoffman great grand. ton, GA. Lewis John J. Coury Jr. M.D. PORT HURON John J. Coury, M.D., 83, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born October 22, 1921 in Wheeling, West Virginia and has been a resident of the Port Huron area since 1952. Dr. Coury married Doris Arner on June 10, 1945 in Three Rivers, Michigan. She preceded him in death January 14, 2003. Dr.

Coury completed his undergraduate studies at Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, Pennsylvania in 1942 and graduated from Case Western Reserve Medical School in 1945. Between 1945 and 1952 he completed his internship, surgical residency at Harper Hospital, and service as a captain in the Army Medical Corps. He then came to Port Huron in 1952 to practice with Surgical Associates until his retirement in 1991. Dr. Coury was an active member of Port Huron and Mercy Hospitals, and he served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at both.

He also was an active member and past president of the St. Clair County Medical Society, a delegate of the Michigan State Medical Society and its president in 1972, and a delegate of the American Medical Association for Michigan and the president in 1986. He was also a board member of the World Medical Association. Dr. Coury served on the Blue Cross Blue Foundation for Charitable thielo, Donations and was a board 1 member of Michigan National Bank He was also a member and past president of Port Huron Golf Club.

He was a parishioner of St. Edward's and St. Mary's Catholic Churches. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. Dr.

Coury died after a brief illness, with family and friends by his side. He is survived by his daughter, Jann Coury of San Diego, California; his sons, John A. (Vir- Valerie E. Ussery, 33 LAPORTE, IN Valerie E. Ussery, 33, died Monday, Sept.

"Mac" Hess McPhee PORT HURON Floyd H. "Mac" Hess McPhee, age 79, of Port Huron, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab. He was born to Floyd H. Hess and Betty McIntyre McPhee on October 11, 1925 in Port Huron and attended the Port Huron schools, graduating from Port Huron High School. He later attended Iowa State College and served in the U.S.

Navy during World War II. On October 31, 1947, 1 he married Betty J. Chisholm in Port Huron. Mac worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, until his retirement.

He a long-time. member of Grace Episcopal Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Seabury Club, a and was a past member of the Junior Vestry and Senior Vestry. He was a life member, past Master, and Chaplin of Fort Gratiot Lodge He was a former member of the Blue Water Scottish Rite Club, Valley of Detroit Moslem Temple, Huron Chapter R.AM., Port Huron Commandery K.T., York Rite College, and Royal Select Masters Mac is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Betty J. McPhee; his two sons, James H.

McPhee of Oklahoma City, OK and Thomas J. (Elizabeth) McPhee of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, David, Lisa and Andrew McPhee, all of Scottsdale, AZ and Laura (James) Swan of Pasadena, CA; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wanda Collins, James and Joyce Chisholm and Marjorie and Robert Greene, of Port Huron; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, including a special son, David K. Smith A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2005 in Grace Episcopal Church. The Rev.

Katherine L. Rice Katherine L. Rice PORT HURON Katherine Louise Rice, 91, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005. She was born August 7th, 1914 in Port Huron To Fred and Agnes McCormick. Her husband Emory H.

"Bud" Rice died September 12, 1982. Katherine was a homemaker and worked as a salesperson at the and Raetzel's Shoe Store. She liked to sew and knit and was active at the Senior Citizens Center, working on the newsletter and playing cards. After her husbands retirement, they moved to Lake, MI in Clare County for the summers and Ruskin, FL for the winters. She moved back to Port Huron after his death in 1982.

Katherine is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Judith A. Rice of Port Huron; sister, Mabel Willert of Flint; grandsons, Timothy (Beatrice) Rice of Cohutta, GA, Robert (Francine) Rice of Port Huron and Timothy Dandron of Port Huron; granddaughter, Theresa Schrieber of Las Vegas, NV; five great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bergetta Phelps Jasper, GA, Marjorie Regis of Sedona, AZ and Nina Evans of Daytona Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte A. Dandron; brother, Russell McCormick and sister, Eunice Paton. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m.

East-Powell PORT HURON Mabel C. East-Powell, 84, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 in Medi Lodge of St. Clair following an extended illness. She was born April 30, 1921 in Fort Gratiot and was a lifelong resident. She married George R.

East. He died in 1949. She married Harold R. Powell. He died in 1979.

Mabel was a 1939 graduate of St. Stephen High School. She retired from the St. Clair County Clerk's office. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and greatShe is survived by her son, Donald J.

(Joanne) East of Algonac; daughter, Barbara E. (William) Duckworth of Kimball; grandsons, Jeffrey (Renee) East of Farmington Hills, Michael (Deanna) East of Saginaw and Scott Mikula of Port Huron; her granddaughters, Stacy (Scott). Thompson of Fort Gratiot and Kim (Jim) Plutter of Algonac; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Elizabeth Kashubosky of Marysville. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard G. East on June 3, 1970.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. C. Paul Higdon will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.

Lynda G. Farley Kolthoff A. of MARINE CITY Lynda Gayle Farley Kolthoff, age 57, of Marine City, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 following a brief, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in White County, Tennessee on January 8, 1948, a daughter to the late Haskell Rice Farley and Bessie Williams Farley. Lynda married John Albert Kolthoff on June 28, 1993 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mrs. Kolthoff was employed as a quality control engineer by Aerotek Company in Pontiac, MI. Surviving are her husband, friend and companion, John; daughter, Kristie Barczi of Michigan; step-sons, Mike (Beth) Kolthoff of Courtright, Ontario and Dave (Sandy) Kolthoff of Calgary, Alberta; four grandchildren, who were grandma's little angels, Courtney, Katie, Amanda and Cameron; two brothers, Donnie Farley of Smithville, TN and Dale (Karen) Farley of Sparta, TN; three half-brothers, Jimmy (Wilma) Clouse and Ralph and Wendell Farley, all of Sparta, brother-in-law, Fred (Trudy) Kolthoff of Toronto, step-sister-in-law, Jannie (Peter) Maaten of Sarnia, step-brother-in-law, Peter DeHeer of Chatham, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Lynda's family will receive visitors in the Bower- Rose Funeral Home, Marine City from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday.
