Phil Knight, who joined his former track coach from the University of Oregon to start the company that became Nike, gave $25 million to his alma mater Thursday. Welser, 91 died May 22, 1996 in his home. Marianna elding Goodman DELRAY BEACH, FL Marianna Renting Goodman died at her home in Delray beach, FL, on May 20, 1996. Mrs. Goodman had been a resident of Abbey Delray South since 1991. Born in 1913 in Dayton, OH, she graduated from Oakwood High School there in 1936 and from Wheaton College, MA, in 1940.

From 1940 to 1943, she worked as a reporter and columnist for the Dayton Daily News. In her lifetime, Mrs. Goodman resided in Virginia Beach, VA; St. Clair, MI; and, was a long-time resident of New York, City. She is survived by her three children: Mary downs of Denver, CO; John Goodman of San Diego, CA; and Richard Goodman, Jr, of New York City.

She is also has a sister, Dorothy R. Jordon of St. Clair, MI, and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be sent to St. hay, India.

Mr. Basrai emigrated to the S. in I960, and feved in Port Huron since 1971. He was a research engineer tor Ford Tractor. He received medical retirement in 1980 and has spent the last 15 years raising his daughters, traveling, and enjoying the pleasures of life.

Bill was a past secretary of the Port Huron Optimist Club, a member of the Audubon Society and Service Club Bowling League, and an active supporter of the Port Huron Northern Band. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Margaret Basrai and Patricia Basrai and her fiance, Matthew Glaza; mother, Rukhaiya Basrai; sister, Nafisa; mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Jack Leahy; and many other beloved relatives and friends. Organ donation and cremation have taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Stackpoole, Port Huron Hospital Chaplain will officiate. Visiting will be 12 noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice, Blue Water National Audubon or Charity of the donor's choice. Capt.

Benjamin W. Brahaniler HOUSTON, Texas CapL Benjamin W. Brabander, 98, died Friday, Jan. 19, 1996 in Houston, Texas. He was born Feb.

14, 1897 in Detroit. He married Emma Cahours on Jan. 31, 1923 in St. Clair. She died in December 1970.

Ben grew up in St Clair and lived there for over 45 years before moving to Buffalo, N.Y. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 47 years of sailing on the Great Lakes. Ben lived the past eight years with his daughter Lois and husband, Hewitt Clarke in Houston. The Brabander family first came to St. Clair in 1858.

He is survived by his son, Robert A Brabander of Texas and Wisconsin; two daughters, Shirley M. Forti of Hamburg, N.Y. and Lois A Clarke of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 1996 in St.

Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. The Rev. Edward Ritter of St. Mary's will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Ronald "Ron" Godo ALMONT, MI. Ronald "Ron" Godo, 63, passed away Thursday, May 23, 1996 at his home in Almont, after an extended illness. He was married to Joy L.

Snyder on January 19, 1952 in Imlay City, MI. He had been employed by Dairy farm until 1961; Family farm partnership since 1977. He was just about to retire form farming. He was a member of Almont Twp. Trustees; Almont Twp.
