WILLIAMSTON It's now 28' straight wins on the home court for Williamston's Hornets, as they nailed Lansing Catholic Central, 57-44, here Tuesday night. Although LCC was leading 28-21 at half-time, a 13-point fourth quarter effort by Williamston standout Chuck Wesolek helped the Hornets blow the game open.

Wesolek totaled 24 points in the contest, and pulled in 14 rebounds. THE HORNETS didn't get moving on offense until the fourth quarter and didn't take a lot of shots in the game, which marked the first time Williamston has beaten LCC. Seniors Dan Kallman and Rick Whit-beck each scored 10 for Williamston, while Terry Costello had 12 for the Cougars. Williamston now stands at 3-0 for the season, while LCC dropped to 1-2. Coach Annelies Knoppers' Spartans, winners of the midwest AIAW championship in mid-November, are 35-6 on the season and are seeded eighth in the 24-team tournament. THE SPARTANS were ninth in 1975 and Knoppers feels her team could finish as high as the top four this time around.

"Just being seeded eight is a big advantage to start with and our taking part in the tournament at UCLA in No vember certainly won't hurt," she said. "It gave us good experience against national-caliber teams and gave us to work on." The 24-team field is divided into four groups of six teams each. The top two teams from each pool advance to the quarter-finals. MICHIGAN STATE is in the group with No. 1 seed Southern California while Eastern Kentucky, Maryland, Arizona and host Texas round out the six.
