N. RAPIDES PARISH, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1951 Out-of-Town Churches--Clubs Oakdale PTA OAKDALE, (Special) -'The Spirit of Christmas" titled the talk given by the Rev. E. C. Harris ourthe regular meeting of the Parent Teacher Association.

"The three principal things, people should think of in the of Christmas are: gifts, the gift of the Son of God, and to give up our selves for, the good and blessings of God." Rev. Harris said. The high school mixed chorus highlighted the program with two songs: "Carol of the Bells and Glory to God." The Christmas operetta, which is to be sponsored by the P. T. A.

will be held on December 19 7:30 p. m. at the grammar school auditorium. On December 20 the operetta will be reshown for the of the school children. There is an approximate 400 children who will participate in the play this year.

Alex Stephens, an Allen Parish school board member, spoke to the group regarding the $210,000 school bond election. He said these funds would be used for repairs to the parish schools, such as painting. and installing better lighting systems. pointed out that part'? of these funds will be used for rebuilding of the recently burned Oakdale colored school. D. Club The Urania Home Demonstration club met Monday afternoon, Dec. 10, in the social room of the Methodist Church for their Christmas party. Mrs. Harry Nichols, Mrs.

Otto Kees and Mrs. Quincy Cornwell were the hostesses. A corsage of holly was pinned on each guest as arrived. The room gaily decorated with an air of the holiday season and lighted by buble lights. A small tree was decorated and placed on a table where the beautifully packaged gifts were were laid.

Mrs. Ellis Babcock, vice-presdent called the meeting to order and the opening was Come All Ye Roll call was answered by naming your favorite Christmas dessert. Mrs. Herbert read the minutes of the last meeting. The recreation program was under the direction of Mrs.

C. M. Newsom and Mrs. Herbert May. The refreshment plate also reflect ed the Christmas season in a delicious salad and cakes.

A. Chapter Advisory Council met recently to discuss objectives. Members de. cided first. to have a show the night of Dec.

15: on diseases of livestock. Dr. Smith of New Orleans and Mr. Cain of Alexandria will lecture. Due to the success of the Bangs control campaign last year, Dr.

Eunice PTA The Eunice High School P.TA was presented a Christmas program for the monthly meeting' by a first grade group and members of the school music department. Miss Rosetta Guillet's first graders rendered several Christmas songs 1cocmpanied by their rhythm band.

Anna Lois Fontenot, Dale Pitre and Genevieve Sanders sang "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World" under the direction of Earl J. Caillouet, Eunice high school director of music. Wesleyan Guild OAKDALE. La. (Special)- The Methodist Weslyean Guild celebrated Christmas with a party at the Oakdale Cafe.

The banquet table was centered with a red runner, topped with holly and red berries. were evenly spaced red candles. A little Chrisimas tree, under which gifts were piled high, centered the tables. Approximately 40 members of the class were present for the banquet. Mrs.

E. J. Barksdale led the group in singing Christmas carols which were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Nell Erwin. On the decorating committee were Mrs.

Pauline Warrington and Mrs. Phil McDonald. Business Women OAKDALE. La. (Special) Yule party was held by the Business and Professional Women's Club at Bertie's Eat Shop here with an approximate forty members and guests present.

Seasonal decorations were promFiesta the party took inently throughout the place. Following the banquet musical program was presented. Miss Louise Bacon tap danced with Mrs. J. J.

Brooks at the piano; Mrs. Olive Owens sang "New Born King' and "Brahm's Lullabye" with Mrs. H. 0 Cain at the piano; the Rev. and Mrs.

E. J. Barksdale sang a duet of Little Town of Bethlehem" accompanied by Mrs. H. O.

Mr. Remi Vidrine sang "'Chrismas Dreaming, All I Want for Christmas" and "White Christmas" accompanied by Mrs. H. O. Cain; and Mrs.

E. J. Barksdale sang "0 Holy Night" and "I'll Be Home Christmas' accompanied by Mrs. Coming as a complete surprise to everyone was the appearance of Santa Claus who distributed gifts. Pineville 4-H Club Dairy cattle and the making of popcorn flowers were the topics of the December meeting of the 4-H club of the Pineville Grammar School held on Dec.

3. Following the opening pledge, group singing was enjoyed and the discussions held. Mr. 'Annison discussed the- dairy cattle with the boy while Miss Irene Lord demonstrated the making of popcorn flowers and also displayed aprons the girls had made. Self Culture Party OAKDALE, La.

(Special)-Toys of all shapes and descriptions were brought to the Self Culture Christmas party held at the home of the Rev. Mable Rathbun Monday m. These toys will be given to the needy of the Pilgrim Methodist Church of which Mrs. Rathbun is pastor, here. Highlighting the party were several guitar, selections, played by member, followed by group singing of Christmas carols.
