JOPLIN GLOBE, SUNDAY, JULY 15, 1923 '5 NEW MEMBERS ADDED TO HIGH ORCHESTRA 2 Rehearsals Being Held Each Week. -WHI' Play In' Memorial Bond Campaign, Ten new members of the high school orchestra have attended rohearsals being conducted during the summer by T. Frank Coulter, director ot the orchestra, will be to play with the organization when school opens in September, Coulter said yesterday. The summer practice of the orchestra 'has been instructive to members as well as beneficial to the community, Coulter said. An average of forty students at tended the rehearsals each Thursday at the high school auditorium, Eighth and Wall streets.

A sinaller number attended afternoon rehearsals on Wednesday. When high school opens in. the fall, Coulter said, the orchestra will need little or no organization because 'of the summer rehearsals, which ha 'e heid the members together. Ready for Engagements. Many selectiong have been practiced until the orchestra has mastered them.

In case the orchestra 19 needed to furnish music for some occasion "In the first, two or three months of the new school year, Coulter sald, it will be ready to respond. In addition to rehearsals for high school orchestra members, practice is being conducted at the same time for 'unfor high school orchestra members. There also are Revoral new students who are being trained for work in the organization when school opens. Coulter recently Invited members ct the high school band to practice with the orchestra. The time Is divided and the band is given rehearsals.

One ot the appearances of the band to be made this summer is to be during the campaign to urge voters to vote for the memorial hall bonds. The band will play on the street three days this week. Glee Clubs to Organize. The orchestra has 'mule several appearances at civio club dinners and banquets this summer. Virtually all of the cornet and flute players 'in the orchogtra' last year have been graduated, Coulter said.

Miss Scott and her brother, Edward P. Scott, took the bar exami-. nation at Jefferson City in June. Both passed and have been admitted to the bar. The brother, a -graduate of Joplin high school, was employed in the Income tax division of the federal revenue at Washington three years, and has been attending the law school of Georgetown univorsity.

Information of the death of Franklin Weimer, 24 years old, former Joplin young man, which occurred last week at Neogo, was received here yesterday.
