After taking good look at the scoreboard this afternoon, when the game was over, 1 found that we'd lost. I rather suspected we had, but I wasn't quite sure until I took that look, for the Cardinals ran us so dizzy chasing balls in that outfield that 1 couldn't keep track of what was happening at home plate. Whew, what a beating they gave us. No luck In It, either. They weft Just in a hitting mood and they slammed everything that came within three feet of them, and I guess Babs and Combs and myself must hava punched about 8,000 holes on ths outfield by chasing after the balls they drove out our way.

We all thought that Bob Shawkey could stand thole Cardinals on their cars this afternoon and cinch the game and the championship for us. But It couldn't 6t don.
