College Football at State Fair. Shreveport gets Its first college football game of the year next Saturday when the Louisiana Polytech Bulldogs and the Northwestern State Demons meet at the Louisiana State Fair.

The Bulldogs and the Demons were signed for annual combat at the Louisiana State Fair by William Rex Hirsch, the master showman and general manager of the fair, several years before the war. In 1942 the contract was suspended and Is resumed this year. The visitors have done well In entertaining the local pigskin followers and Saturday's program should prove no exception. The thing that makes the Bulldogs-Demons game attractive Is the bitter friendly rivalry of the foes. It's a traditional battle with them and when the time for the kickoff comes the dopesters usually forget all about pre-battle statistics.

Both teams are Inspired by the presence of their respective school student bodies and these students add to the occasion by staging half-time game ceremonies that are colorful and spectacular. It's good to see the collegians take over the town, as they will do next weekend. It brings back memories of those golden days when Centenary college was performing at home as the giant-killer of the football world or the Louisiana State Tigers and the University of Arkansas Porkers were the "big noise" of the Louisiana State Fair program. The thing to do now is to jot a place In your data book for the meeting of the Demons and the Bulldogs. You will hear more about the squads as the week grows old with news bulletins and stories coming In from the rival camps.
