Pittman of 206 Begonia in Highlands, was hurled out of the window, the children said. Students and adult bystanders say the boy did not seem to be seriously hurt. His mother said he went to school Thursday. Several other students were taken by their parents to private physicians and many arrived later at emergency rooms in area hospitals. When the bus landed in the ditch, the gasoline tank apparently ruptured. Firemen from the Highlands Volunteer Fire- department sprayed water under the bus to prevent fire from leaking gasoline. At the hospital Tim Robertson, awaiting results of an Xray pf his leg, gave a vivid description of the accident. I saw was a blue car coming," the boys said. "Mr.

Dickson hit the brakes. Larry went flying through the window. I was thrown out of my seat. People were screaming and bus seats were broken loose from the floor. "Steve Nicholson came to the emergency door with his face emergency door.

I hopped out the front door and a man grabbed me and set me under a cedar tree until the ambulance got there. "Ricky was there too, and he was hurt bad," the boy said. Larry didn't have but one scratch on him." Ricky appeared to be the worst injured of the children with a broken leg. Donnie, Ricky's 13-year-old brother, said he was sitting in the seat with Ricky about six seats from the rear of the bus and on the opposite side from where the car hit. When the bus was knocked into the ditch, "it seemed the back end was up in the air and when it fell down, the seats fell on Ricky's leg," Donnie said.

"The bus driver picked Ricky up and carried him off the bus," he said. Gloss, said he came immediately to the scene to help get children dispersed from the bus to their homes. Mrs. E. G.

Searcy of 107 S. Fifth said she heard the LEGAL NOTICE bleeding and was helping people get out. Mr. Dickson had two broken ribs but he was helping people out, too. "The bus nosedived into the ditch.

I didn't go through the crash and ran to the scene to get some neighbor children. "I saw the bus driver helping the children out even though he had a big lump on his head," she said. "He kept trying to calm the children and get them out of the bus." A boy, Mike James, was a little stunned about the whole thing. He said he was sitting in the second seat behind the driver and flew out of his seat when the crash came, landing near the entrance of the bus "The girls were screaming and crying," he said. "The bus driver was bleeding but he got up out of his seat and startec helping the kids off the Mike said most of the seats on the bus were still full at the time of the accident as only three stops had been made.
