THE TIMES HERALD PORT HURON, MICH. Wednesday, March 30, 1977 Obituaries Leroy E. Hicks NAPLES, Fla. Leroy E. Hicks, 82, former Huron County resident, died Sunday in Naples.

He was born Dec. 12, 1894, in Redman in Huron County. A former resident of Bad Axe and Port Austin, he had lived in Naples since 1945. He married Miss Clara Broomfield in September, 1919. She died June 2, 1934.

He married Miss Vivian Fager 1938. Hicks was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. He owned and operated Hicks Restaurant, Bad Axe, from 1920 to 1944, when he retired. He had owned a restaurant in Port Austin for many years.

Mr. Hicks was fire chief in the Bad Axe Fire Department. He was a charter member of Sherman Elbin Post 96, American Legion, and the Lions Club. He was a life member of Verona Lodge 365, AM. He was a drum major in the drum and bugle corp from 1932 to 1950.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Willett (Betty) Rondeau, Westgate, Charles (Genevieve) Todd, Bad Axe, and Mrs. Clayton (Jean) Harrold, Naples; two sons, William M. Hicks, Oahu, Hawaii, and James D. Hicks, Las Vegas, a sister, Mrs.

Floyd Smith, Flint; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held Tuesday in Hodges Funeral Home, Naples. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe. The Rev.

Donald K. Remillard, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Bad Axe, will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Colfax Cemetery. Remains are in the funeral home, where visiting hours begin at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Howard Munro PECK Services for Beatrice C. Munro, 76, of 151 South Sandusky, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Peck United Methodist Church. The Rev.

Willard King, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Elk Township Cemetery. Mrs. Munro died Monday in her home after a short illness. She was born March 16, 1901, in Yale.

She married Howard Munro Sept. 15, 1929, in Detroit. Mrs. Munro was a graduate of Almont High School and Ypsilanti State Normal College. She taught school in St.

Clair and Sanilac counties from 1926 to 1967. She was an active member of Peck United Methodist Church, leading the children's choir and teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Methodist Women's Society. Mrs. Munro is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs.

Robert (Eleanor) Grout, Croswell; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Allen, Yale, Mrs. Mary Napolitan, Detroit, and Mrs. Florence Bubel, Ruskin, a brother, Percy Edgerton, Riley Center; and six grandchildren. A son, James Munro, died Sept.

28, 1969. Remains will be in Carman Funeral Home, Peck, until noon Thursday, when they will be moved to the church. Leonard Jackson PORT HURON Leonard Jackson, 74, of 3250 Brace Road, died today in his home after a long illness. he was born June 18, 1902, in Sanilac County, and lived here 30 years. He retired from Mueller Brass Co.

in 1967. Mr. Jackson is survived by two sons, Delbert and Martin Jackson, both of North Street; two daughters, Ms. Pauline Howe, Port Huron, and Mrs. Adolph (Bonnie) Dadacki, Snover; a brother, William Jackson, Port Huron; 17 grandchildren and two great- children.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Arthur Smith Funeral Home-North Chapel. The Rev. William F. Kinnan, pastor of Wesleyan Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. Remains are in the funeral home, with visiting hours from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Francis G. Burns MEMPHIS Francis G.

Burns, 69, of 81130 Durfee died Wednesday in Yale Community Hospital after a short illness. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Marie) Nobels, Port Huron; a son, Nelson F. Lansing; a sister, Mrs. Donald McKiernan, Richmond; and six grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Remains will be in the Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, after 7 p.m. today. Mrs. Harry E.

DeSchryver MARINE CITY Myrtle M. DeSchryver, 81, of 256 North Market died Tuesday in River District Hospital after a long illness. She was born March 7, 1896, in Detroit, and lived in Marine City 42 years. She was married to Harry E. DeSchryver Nov.

22, 1916, in Detroit. Mrs. DeSchryver is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Barbara) Dehring, Armada; two sons, Harry E. DeSchryver Indianapolis, and Philip DeSchryver, Anchorville; two sisters, Mrs.

Edna McElmurrie, Rogers City, and Beatrice Lamb, Richmond; 22 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Bower -Rose Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Rev.

James T. Shannon, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Detroit. Remains are in the funeral home, where visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Thursday. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Medical forms can help babysitter The parents have left their child with a babysitter. The child becomes Ill or is injured.

What happens then? Port Huron Hospital and the Noon Optimist Club of Port Huron have begun a project designed to answer that question. Called "For Your Child's Sake!" it provides parents with forms that authorize medical treatment when needed. The forms, when signed by parents and witnessed, authorize the hospital to perform medical and surgical treatment. When completed, the forms include telephone numbers of police, nearby hospitals, physicians, relatives and neighbors. The forms also include the parents' destination, the type of car they are driving and their principal travel route.

The child's allergies and medication and the date of his last tetanus shot also are listed. Donald Fletcher, associate executive director of the hospital and a member of the Optimist club, obtained the backing of the club when the hospital proposed the project. Margaret Carrigan, Port Huron Hospital executive secretary, designed the Fire destroys vacant home, damages second ALGONAC A fire early this morning destroyed one home and partially destroyed another in the city's 116 block, an area of condemned homes in the urban renewal area. Police Chief Robert Christy said a motorist reported the fire at Michigan and Summer streets shortly after 3 a.m. The police then called the Algonac Fire Department, who put out the blaze by 4 a.m.

The fire department said it will conduct an arson investigation. Bloodmobile plans DECKERVILLE The Red Cross bloodmobile will be at the Deckerville Methodist Church between 2 and 8 p.m. Thursday. it's a forms, which are being distributed through Port Huron schools by Optimist members. The forms also are available in the emergency rooms of Port Huron and Mercy hospitals, Yale Community Hospital and River District Hospital.

The forms may be a shortcut to quicker treatment for the ill child. Otherwise, "unless the case is an extreme emergency, a child must wait until his parents can be reached for their consent before he can be treated," Fletcher said. Arrangements were by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Kenneth K. Barker PONTIAC Services for Kenneth K. Barker, 63, who died Tuesday in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Pontiac, will be 1 p.m.

Thursday in Donelson-Johns Funeral Home, Pontiac. He was born April 24, 1913, in Pontiac. He is a former Applegate resident. Mr. Barker is survived by his wife, the former Helen Reddicliffe; two sons, Philip Barker, Waterford Township, and Ronald Barker, Union sisters, Mrs.

Carl Lindhal, Clarkston," and Mrs. Waldo Zuehlke, Ortonville; a brother, William D. Barker, Houghton Lake; and nine grandchildren. The remains are in the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Harry C. Smith PORT HURON Services for Pauline E. Smith, 81, formerly of 735 Pine will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Grace Episcopal Curch.

The Rev. Canon D. Roy Lees, rector, will 1 officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. James Wood, Dennis Vollmer, Brian Campbell, Terry Anderson and Harry and Charles Stevenson will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Smith died Monday in Marwood Manor after a three-month illness. She was the widow of Harry C. Smith, who died April 22, 1947. Remains are in Arthur Smith Funeral Home South Chapel, where visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

today. John H. Davidson BATTLE CREEK John H. Davidson, 76, died Tuesday in Marion Memorial Hospital, Marion, after being stricken while visiting his son. Mr.

Davidson was born Nov. 7, 1899, in Old Springs, and moved to Battle Creek in 1941. He married Ivy May Thompson Aug. 25, 1926, in Port Huron. She died Feb.

12, 1976. Mr. Davidson worked with the VeterARS Administration Hospital, retiring in 1963. He and his wife operated Davidson Day Care Center until 1970. Mr.

Davidson was a member of First Baptist Church, Ira A. Berk Lodge 503, AM, and the American Association of Retired Persons. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Marlene) Asonoff, Creek; two sons, Richard A. Davidson, Delton, and John T.

Davidson, Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Doman, Beaverton, and Mrs. Mert Morris, St. Thomas, a brother, George Davidson, East Tawas, and six grandchildren. Reamains are in Shaw Funeral Home, Battle Creek, where services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Friday. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Calhoun County Humane Society or First Baptist Church of Battle Creek. William L. Cornell SMITHS CREEK William L.

Cornell, 47, of 7739 Frith Road, died unexpectedly Monday in his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Detroit. He married Loretta J. Baumgartner June 4, 1969, in Warren.

Mr. Cornell was a self-employed carpenter. He is survived by his wife; a son, Leonard W. Cornell, and a stepson, Lynn two stepdaughters, Mrs. SieniaBaumgartner, both of Smiths, Creek; recki, Mount Clemens, and Gale Baumgartner, Smiths Creek; three sisters, Mrs.

Jack (Wanda) Bretz, East Tawas; Mrs. Scotty (Joan) Tourangeau, St. Clair Shores, and Mrs. Gale (Betty) Schlmate, Warren; his mother, Mrs. Roeena Cornell, Detroit, and two grandchildren.

Carlyle, two months, of 8600 Owens Road, died Tuesday in his home of sudden infant syndrome. He was born Jan. 6, 1977, in Port Hu- ron. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Terry R. (Cynthia Bolton) Carlyle; a sister, Mary A. Carlyle, Brockway Township; his grandfather, John Gudich, Yale; and great-grandmother, Mrs. Rose Gudich, Detroit. Remains are in the Kaatz Funeral Home, Yale, where private family services will be at 10 a.m.

Thursday. The Rev. Gary W. Jamison of the First Presbyterian Church of Yale will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Yale.

Robert W. Solomon NORTH STREET Robert Wayne Solomon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Solomon, 3189 Wadhams Road, was dead at birth Tuesday in Port Huron Hospital. He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Michael Solomon, North Street; and grandparents, Mr.

and Mrs. Delmont Solomon, North Street; Mrs. Charlotte Chaptovy, Sarnia, and Robert Hastings, Harsens Island. Cremation was at White Chapel, Troy. Arrangements were by the Arthur Smith Funeral Home.

Woodrow G. Brogan NEW HAVEN Woodrow G. Brogan, 59, of 59727 Havenridge Road, died Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital West, Clinton Township, after a long illness. He was born Jan.

10, 1918, in Ruth, W.Va., and lived in New Haven 23 years. He married Deloris Durecki Sept. 7, 1946, in Greenup, Ky. Mr. Brogan was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S.

Navy. He was a retired employe of Kehrig Manufacturing Mount Clemens. He was a member of Chapter 44, Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife; nine sons, John Brogan, Virginia Beach, Jerry Brogan, Elkhart, W.Va.; Danny Brogan, Albans, W. Lawrence Brogan, Detroit; David, Patrick and Christopher Brogan, all of New Haven, and Richard and Thomas Brogan, both of Armada; four daughters, Mrs.

Frances Goerlich, Mount Clemens; Carol A. Brogan, Detroit, and Jane and Donna both of New Haven; a sister, Mrs. Epsie Kincaid, Roanoke, a brother, Ray Brogan, St. Albans, and 11 grandchildren. Services will be at 1:15 p.m.

Friday in Gendernalik Funeral Home, New Baltimore, and at 2 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, New Haven. The Rev. James Curtin, pastor, will officiate.

Kohn SNOVER Services for Walter H. Kohn, 74, of 1814 Bulgrien Road, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hacker Funeral Parlors, Sandusky. The Rev. Dale Ferris and the Rev.
