HOWARD F. Lansing Age 86, went to be with the Lord on October 14, 1993. He was born in Kingston, MI on April 4, 1907, and has been a resident of Lansing since 1954. He served the South Baptist Church as its Pastor for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Surviving are his wife, Lucile; daughter, Sylvia (Vern) Sillman of Lansing; 5 grandchildren, Cindy (Mark) Blanche, Susan Coven, Mark (Pamela) Coven, Shelly (Greg) Hall, Daniel Sillman; 7 great grandchildren, Jamie, Courtney, Ian, Leigh, Cassidy, Kristie, Marie; 2 brothers.

Mr. Dutcher was a member of First United Methodist Church; a Life Member of Lansing Lodge 196, B.P.O. Elks; was employed with Oldsmobile for more than 30 years, retiring as a Senior Designer in the Engineering Department in 1973; a member of the Olds Quarter Century Club; and an avid golfer and bowler. Surviving are his wife, Pauline; 2 daughters, Sharon Lee Pavlat of Lansing, and Pamela May (Pete) Walbridge of Potter-ville; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Hat-tie) Dutcher of Lansing; 2 sisters, Gwen-dolya Haynes of Holt, Donna Wilson of Lansing; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gomoll was employed with the State of Michigan Secondary Complex, Secretary of State Office, Drivers License Bureau for 17 years. BRACKETT, BETTY Lansing Age 69, died October 14, 1993 at her residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY; Betty graduated from University of Buffalo and worked at Veterans Hospital in Buffalo. She lived in Flint for 20 years and in Lansing for the last 20 years. She taught at Hurley School of Nursing and worked at several area hospitals including St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing in drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Surviving are husband, Shakeeb; 4 children, Kathleen (Yoram) Tanay of Washington DC, Stephanie (Mark) VanDe-vanter of Vashon Highland, WA, Jan Ellen (Ray) Beebe of Port Republic, NJ and Carol (Warren) De-Dow of Portage, MI; 4 grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica De-Dow, Stephen and Rebecca Beebe; 2 sisters, Alberta Raske of Mc-Henry, IL and Mae Grana of Lewiston, NY; 2 brothers, Leo George of Niagara Falls, NY and Abe George of Churchville, NY; several nieces and nephews. He was a resident of the Charlotte area for the past 27 years, and was employed at Oldsmobile in Lansing for 23 years until his retirement in 1987. He was previously employed by American MotorsJeep in Toledo.

OH for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; 2 daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Donald of Grelton, OH. Wanda (Mel) Cotton of Beld-ing, MI; 2 sons, Fred (Deb) West of Bowling Green, OH, and Larry (Beth) West of Charlotte; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Born September 26, 1905 in Bloom-ingdale a son of Russell and Carrie (Osborne) Waite; married Edna Ragan on October 8, 1923 in Pawpaw, and she preceded him in October 1991. Surviving is 1 son, Robert of Dimon-dale; 1 daughter, Joyce Ann (Charles) Gibbs of Traverse City; 2 sisters, Noreen Nor-dahl of Kalamazoo and Martha Greene of Portland, OR; 4 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald and John.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 23, at the Lake Ann United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Towersey officiating. Mr. Waite's body has been donated to Michigan State University.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Lake Ann United Methodist Church, P.O. 186, Lake Ann, MI 49650. KARKAU, LAWRENCE E. Grand Ledge Age 66, passed away on October 13, 1993. He was born February 8, 1927, in Lansing, and has been a lifelong resident of the area.

Mr. Karkau was a member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church; a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School: veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy; was employed with Diamond REO, and later with Spartan Motors, retiring as its Chief Engineer in January 1993. Surviving are his wife, Delores; sons, Robert (Nancy) Karkau of Perry. Dennis (Robin) Karkau and Ronald Karkau, both of Grand Ledge; O'BRIEN, A.

DORINDA Saginaw Formerly of Lansing Passed away Thursday. October 14, 1993 at the Home for the Aged; age 89 years. Dorinda Baker was born August 18, 1904 in Petosky, MI, moving to Lansing in 1942, then to Saginaw in 1980. She was married to Robert O'Brien in August of 1929; he predeceased her in 1960. She had been employed by Michigan State Police as a Bookkeeper for 10 years, retiring in 1973.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lansing. Surviving are 1 daughter, Mrs. Nancy Lawrence of Zilwaukee; 4 grandchildren, Terry Lawrence of Traverse City, Amy Lawrence of Norwich, VT, Wade VanOrman and Bren-da O'Brien, both of Bloomington, IN; 1 sister. Norma Ashton of Barstow, CA.

A daughter. Bonny VanOrman, predeceased her. Mrs. O'Brien donated her body to Michigan State University Department of Human Anatomy. A memorial service will take place at IS a.m.

Cynthia was born November 7, 1930 in Brooklyn. MI to Robert Malcolm and Wilma Ruth (Inger-soll) McDonald. She lived in the Jackson area until 1960, when she moved to Lansing.

Mrs. Esterline worked for 18 years as Business Manager for Michigan Urology in Lansing, retiring in 1992, when she moved to Stanton; attended the United Methodist Church in Stanton; was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing bridge. Surviving are daughters. Sue (David) Gray of Tennessee and Ann Herzberg (Tim) Spalding of Lansing; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; mother, Ruth McDonald of Greenville. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m.

A veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army: Mr. Hempsted was a lifelong resident of Lansing. He was employed with the State of Michigan, Insurance Bureau for 31 years and was presently serving as the Director of the Commercial Markets Standards Division. He is survived by his wife, Eth-elda M.

(Ethie): 2 sons, Thomas R. (Mary Anne) of Ypsi-lanti and Dennis R. WAITE, LEON B. Traverse City Age 88, died Wednesday, October 13, 1993. Formerly of Lansing, he'd been a resident of Traverse City since his retirement as a Meta-lizer with the Tranter Corp.
