today to discuss and probably give final approval to this year's school budget that amounts to $1,099,992, about $20,000 more than was budgeted last year. According to the interpretation from Superintendent Ford Longendyke, the budget is still some $199,637 short of what is needed to provide complete program because of the defeat this summer of three separate elections for 5 mills. However, there will be a little more revenue for the budget than was first determined in June, primarily because of a $1,000,000 increase in district valuation with the annexation Montgomery that, campo School District Aug. 31 and the transfer of some $600,000 in valuation from Applegate. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S valuation is now set at 299.

Increases also have come from more basic State aid, about $61,000, and more federal aid, about $44,000. Longendyke said that everybody is unhappy with the budget including the teachers, that it obviously was a very tight budget, and that it would be difficult to keep expenses within the budget this year. Items that will be cut from this year's budget are a speech teacher, a qualiifed librarian, a full athletic program, plays, band, and forensics, two Cook School elementary teachers for the new addition there that will be completed in February. to be Other deleted items are which furniture will have for the new addition, a counseling program, substitute teachers, remedial reading classes, vocal music in elementary schools, elementary teacher the high school and one for junior high, field trips and buses to athletic events, a secretary, two general fund teacher aides, three sweeper and a custodian. Still other items deleted are hot lunch program, some maintenance work, some teaching supplies, and payment for five new buses, about $44,337, which has to be put on credit.

Dameron, from the Washington, D.C., office, will be conducting the study. The four major areas of concern in the study are business management in the school district, cost analysis and control, the district's organization for administration, and planning for the future of the school district, Mr. Dameron said. "IT WILL TAKE about four months to complete the study," Mr. Dameron said, "and then we will file a report of our findings with the school district." During the investigation, he said, he would be studying all aspects of the operation of the district and be interviewing school staff, board of education members, and residents in the school district.

Use of the consultant firm in the district was recommended by officials of The Detroit Edison Company earlier this year at meeting with school officials, during which the question of future building in the school district was discussed.
