Dr. Goodwin died Friday afternoon in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a lifetime resident of Longview. He was a longtime dentist until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include wife, Josephine; daughter, Sara Goodwin Ussery of Beaumont; sons, William Joseph Goodwin and Robert Phillip Goodwin, both of Dallas; and six grandchildren.
