Communist newspapers called for demonstrations throughout the country to protest against the "terror, violence and murders instigated by the government" in its efforts to deal with the labor crisis. The party executive committee notified President Juho K. Paasi-kivi that the firm anti-strike measures ordered by Interior Minister Aare Simonen "openly violate the provisions of the peace treaty." (The peace treaty which ended World War II for Finland provides that "disputes concerning the interpretation or execution of the treaty" shall be settled by Britain and Russia, with the assistance of some third nation if the two cannot agree.) THE IMPLIED threat of International intervention was broadcast to the world by Radio Moscow, which quoted the local Communist statement word for word.

Reports of strange manifestations bothering the boy had been made public previously by the Society of Para-Psychology. It said a Protestant minister interested by the youth's family had witnessed a number of weird phenomena while trying to sleep in the same room with him. In one instance, the society reported, a pallet on which the boy was sleeping slid across the floor and under a bed. In another, it said, a heavy armchair in which the boy was sitting with his knees drawn under his chin tilted slowly to one side and fell over. The Catholic Review, weekly newspaper of the archdiocese, says the boy has been exorcised successfully by a priest after entering the Catholic church.

The entire naval fleet was mobilized to "isolate and occupy" the coal mines in Conception and O'-Higgins provinces south of here, and the nitrate and copper mines in northern Chile where there are heavy United States investments. President Gabriel Gonzalez Vid-ela said one half of the fleet was sent south at dawn and the other half to the north.

An official statement said the outlawed Communist party was "continuing to develop with increasing intensity its revolutionary plans."
