Early Tuesday night a large negro, representing himself as an escaped convict, called at the house of a widow lady named Mrs. Lindergreen, who, with her daughter, resides in the Bed Bone neigh borbood, about twelve miles from this city, and asked for food and clothes.

Mrs. Lindergreen gave him something to eat, but said she had noclothing. He replied in very abusive and threatening language, taking hold of die older lady, saying that he "did not want no Inch damn grab as This so alarmed and terrified the young lady that she ran out of the house and hid in some boshes near by. The negro 'followed and overtook her, and then chiked her down and outraged her.
