C. J. Hart, agricultural agent, says. The cut worm attacks corn and beans at the earth line, and cuts off the growing plants, it is said. Use of poisoned bran bait is said to be an effective means of eliminating cut worms.

A formula composed of 20 pounds of bran, three-quarters of a gallon of cheap molasses, one pound of white arsenic, three otimes of banana oil, mixed with enough water to moisten, is said to be the best method of poisoning the worms. The bran poison should be spread thinly on the soil with all lumps removed to avoid poisoning birds, Mr. Hart says. Cut worms prevail mostly in old sod fields, which were spring plowed.
