Plus and minus signs studded the list in about equal number. Price changes generally were limited to less than a dollar.

Legislators Tackle Same Old Problems LANSING -UPI- The legislature returns from an election recess tonight to face the same problems it had when the session started 13 weeks ago an unsolved cash crisis and a 55- 55 party deadlock in the house. But these encouraging signs emerged from a post-election poll of legislative leaders: -Senate. Republicans promised quick action on a houseapproved plan to solve cash crisis by mortgaging the veterans' trust fund. -House Democrats indicated they would not delay legislative progress by trying to upset GOP control of the house, where one Republican and one Democrat were added by the election.

Pontiac Voters Repeal Civil Service Setup PONTIAC AP Pontiac voters repealed the city's twoyear-old civil service system for Police Monday by a vote of 5,026 to 3,551. The controversial system was linked with difficulties in the Police Department which led to official removal of Herbert W. Straley as Chief of Police. Rejected were proposals for a $3,300,000 bond issue to finance new sewage treatment facilities and repeal of a city ordinance setting 2 p.m., instead of noon, as the Sunday opening time for taverns.

Tieup With Corrupt Unionists Charge Mafia Controls Detroit Jukebox Industry WASHINGTON (AP)-The Sen-1 ate Rackets Committee opens hearings today on its charges that Mafia mobsters have gained a powerful and sinister influence in the jukebox business in Detroit. Witnesses from other cities have told of ties between gangsters and corrupt labor union officials in what the committee says is a nationwide plot to dominate jukebox and some other coin-operated machine enterprises. Robert F. Kennedy, committee counsel, said that is the pattern the evidence will show in Detroit, too. Angelo Meli and Dominick Corrado, whom Kennedy termed Detroit underworld figures, were listed for quizzing about their dealings with various union officials.

LESLIE THOME MEMPHIS Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Thome, 49, widow of Leslie Thome, be at 2 p.m. funeral Thursday home. in Barnard Muriel Flater, pastor of the Spiritual Episcopal church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memphis Cemetery.

Mrs. Thome died Monday in Mt. Clemens General Hospital. SAMUEL BREATHOUR HARBOR BEACH News was received of the death March 24 in Mount Vernon, of Samuel Breathour, 71, former resident of Huron County. Mr.

Breathour was born June 9, 1887, in Bad Axe, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michaels Breathour. He and Miss Melissa Rapson, daughter of the late a Mr. and Mrs.

Philip Rapson, Bad Axe, were married in August, 1910. Mr. Breathour is survived by his widow, a daughter and three sons, all in Mount Vernon. MRS. EARL DOWLING IMLAY CITY-Mrs.

Theresa M. Dowling, 55, of 790 South Almont avenue, died Monday in Lapeer County General Hospital after a four 1 month illness. She was born Oct. 21, 1903, in Pennsylvania. She and Earl Dowling were married April 23, 1953.

She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. S. W. Sinko, North Branch; Howard Swain, Dryden; Mrs. Allen Russell, Detroit, and Miss Rose Hall, California; a stepdaughter, Mrs.

Peter Northrup, Imlay City; two step sons, George Dowling and Orville Dowling, both of Imlay City; a sister, Mrs. Mary Lipusz, and two brothers, 'Andrew Matto and Michael Matto, all of Cleveland, and nine grandchildren. The remains are in the Lester Smith and Son funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 9:30 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic church. Rev. Raymond McCormick, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in a local cemetery. MRS.

FRANK GROSSER CAPAC Mrs. Magdalena Grosser, 75, resident of Allenton since 1935 and widow of Frank Grosser, died Monday in a hospital in Dallas, Tex. Mrs. Grosser became ill while visiting a daughter, Mrs. Anne Nicolbi, Dallas.

She was born Dec. 25, 1883' (in Hungary and came to this country in 1907. Her husband died May 15, 1948. She is survived by a son, Nicholas Grosser, Allenton; her daughter, Mrs. Nicolbi; a brother, Nicholas Neibenbach, Cincinnati, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The remains will arrive Wednesday at the Barnard funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Victor Studaker, pastor of West Berlin Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in West Berlin Cemetery.

MRS. JOHN LACKIE BAD AXE Mrs. Laura Schram Lackie, 81, widow of John Lackie and resident 80 years of Huron County, died Monday in her home in Meade Township after a long illness. Born Sept. 18, 1877, in Tilsonburg, Mrs.

Lackie came when a year old to Huron County. She and Mr. Lackie were married June 28, 1899. He died Oct. 21, 1934.

Mrs. Lackie is survived by four sons, Gordon, Detroit; and Fred, Roy and John, all of Bad Axe; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Stone, Romeo; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Colfax United Missionary church.

Rev. Richard R. Kurtz and Rev. Miss Mae Shupe will officiate. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

The remains are in Alden A. MacAlpine funeral home and will be removed at noon Thursday to the church. Republicans gained decisive margins to take over all township posts, formerly held by Democrats. Howard Clement was elected Supervisor, defeating Robert Peter, 128 to 61.

Fred Henderso incumbent Democratic Supervisor 16 years, was not a candidate. Robert King was named over Leland Van Horn, incumbent, 104 to 85, and Don Harris defeated Adelaid Plane, incumbent, for treasurer, 102 to 85. Don Lanway polled 118 votes to win election as trustee over Arthur Harneck, incumbent, 118 to 69. Burt Cobb was elected justice of the peace over Chester Gordon, incumbent, 115 to 73. James McCoon was named to the board of review over Claude Sirdan, 106 to 82, and Tom Bass defeated Walter Hunter, incumbent, 115 to 74, for highway -commission.

Saginaw Rejects Bond Proposals voters turned down two bond proposals in city and county elections Monday. A $1,250,000 bond proposal for a citywide recreation facility program financed by a half mill property tax was defeated by a 3-1 margin. Creation of a special education district in Saginaw County for care of handicapped children was beaten by nearly 3,000 votes.
