Most changes were narrow. Opening blocks included: Standard Oil (New Jersey), up at on 5,800 shares; General Motors, off at on 5.000; and U.S.

Steel, up at on 4,000. Ford gained to 553 on 3,000 shares. Radio Corp rose to on 2.500 shares. General Dynamics was off at on 2,500 shares. The market was continuing a rebound which began after emotional selling exhausted itself early Monday on news of the boost in the discount rate.

Chrysler opened unchanged at 51 on 2,800 shares. Du Pont advanced to General Electric (ex dividend) was up at on 1,200 shares. Pannsylvania railroad was unchanged at on 2.400 shares. Monday the Associated Press Average of 60 Stocks sank 2.6 to 350.7. Prices were generally higher on the American Stock Exchange.

O'Malley farmed in Maple Valley township and worked at General Motors Coach and Truck Division. Pontiac, for many years. He retired and moved to Pontiac in 1958. Surviving are his widow, two sons, Robert O'Malley, Flint, and Floyd O'Malley, Brown City; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Burger, Brown City, and five grandchildren.

Remains are in Carmon Funeral Home, Brown City, where, services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. John Roach, pastor of Brown City Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Brown City. MRS.

ROBERT TOPPIN HARBOR BEACH Mrs. Mildred Josephine Toppin. 54. widow of Robert Toppin and active worker many years in First Presbyterian Church, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon in Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Alex Ducharme, who now live in Deckerville, Mrs. Toppin was born Dec. 16. 1910 at Bad Axe.

She and Mr. Toppin were married March 23. 1929 at Harbor Beach. Mr. and Mrs.

Toppin farmed in Sand Beach township. Huron County. until January. 1963, when they moved into their new house on Klug Road. Mr.

Toppin died May 23, 1964. Mrs. Toppin was employed as secretary in the Hentschl Veterinary Clinic. She was superintendent of the Sunday School of First Presbyterian Church and taught classes many years and was a member of the Church Library board. She was also a member of Harbor Farm Bureau and Sigel Home Economics Extension Club and a former member of Hope Grange.

Mrs. Toppin was sponsor more than 17 years of Ashmore 4-H Club. She is survived by a son. Douglas Toppin, Cleveland: daughter. Mrs.

Mary Ann Brazelton, Oconomowoc, her parents, two sisters. Mrs. Jean Rich and Miss Marie Ducharme, both of Carsonville, and a brother, Robert Ducharme, Deckerville. The remains are in Burton E. Ramsey Funeral Home where services will be conducted at p.m.

Thursday. Rev. Charles R. Johnson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church. will officiate.

Burial will be in Rock Falls Cemetery. ANTHONY C. SCHMITZ RUTH Anthony C. Schmitz, 52, farmer of Sherman township. Huron County, was found dead Monday in his pickup truck on old M-51.

abut miles south of Ruth. Coroner Alden A. MacAlpine said Mr. Schmitz died of a heart attack. Schmitz was born Sept.

9, 1913 in Sherman township where he was a lifelong resident. He and Miss Lillian Ebach were married June 18. 1940. They observed their silver wedding anniversary this year. Mr.

Schmitz is survived by his widow. three daughters. Mrs. Eugene Bischer and Miss Agnes Schmitz, both of Ruth. and Mrs.

Clarence Depcinski, Bad Axe: a son, Ronald Schmitz, of Ruth, four grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Albert Tenbusch and Mrs. Leonard Schumacher, both of Ruth; Mrs. Anthony Particka, Applegate, and Mrs. John Tenbusch.

Minden City. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in SS. Peter and Paul Church by Rt. Rev.

Msgr. Frank W. Kaufmann. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The remains are in Zinger Funeral Home.

died unexpectedly Monday at Flushing, Mich. Miss Ritchie and her sister. Mrs. Warren Thompson, also of Harbor Beach, went Sunday to Flushing to spend the winter with Mrs. Thompson's son and daughter-in-law, Mr.

and Mrs. Warren Thompson. Miss Ritchie, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James D.

Ritchie, was born April 11, 1880 in Wellington County, Ontario. She came as a girl to Harbor Beach. Miss Ritchie was employed more than 23 years by the former Huron Milling Company, from 1931 to 1955, when she retired. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church 68 years, since 1897. Miss Ritchie made her home with her sister.

She is survived by three brothers, Ernest E. Ritchie. Harbor Beach; William C. Ritchie, mouth. and James, George Ritchie, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs.

Charles Posperhaut, Lincoln Park, and Mrs. Thompson. The remains are in Joshua Morgan Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday. Rev.

Charles R. Johnson, pas- Tuesday, December 7, 1965 Theft, Stripping Of Car Laid To Algonac Youths ALGONAC Two 18-year-old Algonac boys have been turned over to Warren City Police for prosecution in connection with the theft of a 1959 car which was found stripped aban- and doned near Algonac. The St. Clair State Police Post said the car was reported abandoned on McKinley Road, near Broadbridge Road, after being stolen in 1 Warren. When the car was found, its engine was missing.

An investigation by Village Police led to the arrest of the two youths. Stripped parts the stolen car were found at the home of one of the boys. After further investigation by the St. Clair State Police Post. the case was turned to Warren authorities.

Council Gets Bad Axe Fire Truck Prices BAD AXE. Prices a new fire truck. exclusive of the chas- sis, which would be purchased locally, were presented by Fire Chief Peter Ney Monday night to the City Council. The prices range from $10.628 to $14.079. Mayor Dr.

Russell D. Amos referred the matter to the finance committee. THE COUNCIL denied the application of Robert W. Dibble for remodeling the front of his store at 145 East Huron Avenue at an estimated cost of $10.000. The reason given was that the front lacks a required five-foot clearance.

The matter will now go to the board of appeals under routine procedure. Dibble IS an alderman and mayor pro tem. Mayor Amos informed the council he will not be a candidate for re-election in 1966. He has held the office since October. 1960.

The deadline for filing nominating petitions is Jan. 3. Rev. Michael Ryan, Emmett Native, Dies In N. Dak.

EMMETT Rev. Michael Ryan, a native of Emmett, died Nov. 28 in Crosby, N. where he had served as a hospital chaplain. He had suffered a heart attack recently.

Father Rayan was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ryan, Emmett. He is survived by an aunt, Mrs. Daniel I Ryan; a sister-in-law, Mrs.

William Ryan, and several cousins. Father Ryan was ordained in the Fargo Diocese of the Catholic Church 20 years ago and had served in North Dakota since. Liquor Stolen From Bay Store In Caseville CASEVILLE Deputy Sheriffs are investigating the burglary of the Bay Store, from which a case of whiskey and a case of beer were stolen. Entry was gained by kicking in a basement window. George T.

wife of Enos Wessels and former resident of Bad Axe and Ubly, died Monday in Jamieson Rest Home at Harrisville, after a long illness. Mrs. Wessels was born July. 21, 1892 at Bad Axe. She Mr.

Wessels were married Nov. 23, 1910 at Bad Axe. They lived the last 17 years at Mikado, Mich. Mrs. Wessels is survived by her husband, six daughters, Mrs.

Elsie Collis. Madison Heights; Mrs. Leona Thurtle. Battle Creek; Mrs. Lenora Gaedtke, Valparaiso, Mrs.

Florence Britt. Detroit; Mrs. Verne Pratt, Hollywood, and Mrs. Alyne Gould, Hazel Park; two sons, Stanley Wessels, Detroit, and Lon Wessels, Greenbuch, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two brothers, Rapson, Bad Axe, and Ralph Rapson, Lake Wales, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Kerr and Mrs.
