CFL Tries For U.S. TV Audience HAYWARD, Calif. (AP) -The Canadian Football League, which has lured some big-name U.S. college players north, may take away some of college football's television audience this fall. 1 The International Broadcasting an independent network with headquarters here, announced that CFL games will be telecast next season, mostly on Saturday afternoons, to at least 15 major U.S.

cities. Robert M. Green, president of the network, said the U.S. television rights were purchased for about $500,000. The CFL's commissioner, Jake Gaurdaur, was here for Thursday's announcement and called the new television money "minimal at present." But, he said, the U.S.

television exposure will help CFL teams sign more good American players. "If an American player is seen on television here, he'll establish his name for he time when he finishes his playing days," Gaurdaur said. In recent months, 1970 All-Americans Joe Theisman of Notre Dame and Jim Stillwa-gon of Ohio State have signed to play with Toronto of the CFL. The Toronto team also signed quarterback Greg Barton, who was the property of the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League and had been with the Detroit Lions. Cities with stations planning to carry CFL games this year include San Francisco, Wash-i rig ton, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Kansas City, St.
