(Photo by Sirt Germany) Ann Landers Answer* Your Problems ;DEAR ANN LANDERS: i » m a Hen mother who needs advice. Qne little boy in my pack ii adorable -- and heartbreaking. fle and our son are best pals. I have seen the boy's mother on ievcral occasions and I'm sure the woman has a drinking problem. - The youngster's shirts look as 1£ they have not been ironed and yesterday, when he raised his hand to give the pledge, I noticed lie had no buttons on his sleeves. The cults were fastened with safety pins. : I told the boy I'd have to give him demerits next time if he didn't get those buttons on. He replied, "I asked my mom twice but she had too many other things to do." · Do you feel I should sew the buttons on the boy's shirt, and perhaps buy him some new shirls and sox? The little fellow looks awfully shabby but 1 don't want to get into trouble with his mother. - CONCERNED Dear Concerned: Since the boy and your ton are beat pals it would not be out of line if you sewed the buttons on his shirts -- ns a "special favor." I don't think the child's mother will notice. And all mothers will agree that shirts and sox are practical gifts for a birthday or. Christmas. * » * DEAR ANN LANDERS: My husband and I need some advice regarding our 17-year-old daughter. When Shsron was 13 she began to date, against our wishes. We told her we did not approve but she said all her friends were dating and she didn't want to be an oddball. At 15 Sharon began to go stendy with a boy of a different faith -- also against our wishes. She will graduate from high school next February. 'All her life Sharon has wanted to be a nurse. Now her boy friend thinks she should go to state college because he will be there. Last night she announced she is going to do just that. When we told her to stick to her nursing plans she threatened to go to the city where our state college is located and get a job. ]Is it right for a girl to ignore her parents' wishes and follow, instead, her boy friend's instructions? - IGNORED Dear Ignored: If your daughter would not listen to you when she was 13, why are your surprised that she won't listen to you now? 'It's too bad Sharon wants to pass up a nursing career to suit her boy friend but you lost con frol many years ago and I doubt that she'll pay any attention to you at this late date. .DEAR ANN LANDERS: I am 19 and going with a very smart fellow who is majoring irf psychology. He is 20. ;'He tells me I am unrealistic, antediluvian, selfish, slub- rJbrn, and Mid-Victorian. Why? Because I don't believe that the physical pleasures of marriage should be enjoyed by couples who are going steady. According to my boy friend · 'girl should prepare for marriage if sire wants to be a successful way in the same way that a_ pianist should have hours of re- Jissrsal before he enters Carne #e Hall to play a concert. He says if a girl has had no premarital experience, marriage cstn be a shock. What is the answer to this, Ann? Like I said, h» is very smart. -- SINKING -Dear Sinking: Tell that smart boy friend of yours that pregnancy outside of marriage can be » rflgger shock than marriage without experience.
