ann landers New valley phone book due Dear Ann Landers: Thirteen months ago I had my first child, a beautiful baby boy. My husband, Chris, is * wonderful husband and father but he has never kissed the child. I mentioned this to him recently and he said he'd feel funny -- that he's never kissed a guy before. I've told him how much this bothers me but it doesn't do any good. My father kissed my brothers and they never lost their masculinity because of it. Some of Chris's male friends have kissed our child on the cheek, which I've pointed out to him. Still no change. He is a warm, affectionate person and this hang-up has me terribly confused. Can there be a deeper problem? -- Mama D*ar Mama: A falh«r who cenikUr* a 13-month-old Mn "a guy" hat a littU ttrvdtl in hU ooodk. I'd wy C!m» has a a«p«r probUm all right. Dear Ann Landers: For the past six months I have been taking out a 31-year-old lady who is attractive, charming, interesting and well thought of by all the people she works with. Louise has never been married. (I was divorced two years ago for reasons 1 won't go into here but it wasn't my fault. My wife ran off with another man.) Louise works the day shift. I work the night shift. This means we see each other only on Sundays. I've told Louise I love her and she says she feels the same about me. For the last several dates, however, she has brought her seven-year-old niece along. (The youngster lives with her since Louise's sister passed away.) The child sits between us in the movies and even in the car ..Of course I have to take Louise straight home because of the little girl. The kid even stands there while we say goodnight. 1 can't even give Louise a real kiss. I'm becoming terribly frustrated and don't know what to make of this. Do you? Please help me figure it out. -- Intercepted Dtor Infer: Wlw'» to figure? Th fotU or* obvioui. Yew hove a Hven-ytar-old chaperene. Dear Ann: I'm not a superstitious nut nor am I especially religious, but in our family when anyone sneezes we always say, "God bless you." I'm seeing a very nice young man and we get along well, but when f sneeze he never says anything even though I always say "God bless you" when HE sneezes. Last night I told him 1 felt it was only good manners to reciprocate the "blessing." He said he'd try to remember. An hour later I sneezed and he didn't say a word. Why is he so bullheaded? Any cure for these types? - Unblessed Dear Un: He'i not bullheaded, he juit doein't come hem a ramify of "Gerfeindheitera." Continue to bleu him ami maybe in time he'd catch the drift. (P.S. I hope you don't have hay fever.) Beginning in the spring of 1977, telephone users in Flathead Valley will be serviced by an additional telephone book. The new book will be published by Phone Directories of Price, Utah, an independent firm. It will combine the directories for Kalispell,' Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Eureka, West Glacier, Coram, Hungry Horse, Camas, Hot Springs, Poison, Ronan, Pablo, Somers, Lakeside and Swan Lake. Promoters of the new phone book are Dan Tobin and Chet Wood. "What this new book means to individuals is that they will have a complete yellow page directory at their disposal at all times, not just the yellow pages for a particular area. It also will be easier to use, easier to read and more complete," Wood said. The book will be more compact than the phone book supplied by Northwestern Telephone Systems, being seven by 11 inches. Type will be larger than the present phone book, there will be an index to the yellow pages, city maps, maps of interest such as Glacier Park and Big Mountain and it also will include high school athletic schedules. "It's a phone directory and a tourist guide," Tobin said. The individual listings include the persons' name, wife's name, address and telephone number. Copies available of alternative government report Copies of the Flathead County Government Study Commission's report now are available in Whitefish, Columbia Falls and at two locations in Kalispell. John Engebretson, executive director for the commission, said persons who haven't received a copy of the report can obtain one at the city clerk's offices in Whitefish and C o l u m b i a F a l l s , t h e Klathead County Clerk and Recorder's office or at the commission's office at 944 S. Main. Tobin and Wood predicted toe circulation of the book to be about 55,000. The independent firm previously has published phone books in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Washington. This is the firm's first venture into Montana. "This book will be important to merchants because they will be advertising once and not four times as with the present books," Wood said. They said the book will be delivered free to every business, home and motel and hotel rooms in the circulation area. Delivery of the book is expected to be approximately two months after the delivery of the NTS phone book. must be made final by Aug. Public hearings on the proposal will be conducted in Whitefish, July 12; Columbia Falls,, July 13; Bigfork, July 14, and in Kalispell on July 15. E n g e b r e t s o n s a i d persons unable to attend the hearings can mail their comments or suggestiosn to the commission at Box 215, Kalispell, 59901.
