My automatic refrigerator was making noise like the whirr and tap, tap, tap, of a woodpecker, and was frosting up badly. Lo and behold, when he took off the front plate, if there wasn't enough dust in it to stuff a pillow! This lack of knowledge that it should be cleaned at least every two or three months caused it to heat up and I had to. have a whole new part. Just remove the bottom panel, called the kick plate. (We found it was easier to remove and replace with the door open.) · The condenser is housed in back of the plate. Just clean it with the suction wand of your vacuum, then replace the kick plate. If this little cleaning job is done properly, according to the instructions, it will keep the motor in good condition. Yours may not. be the same type as mine and you may never have this trouble, but do get your instructions out that came with it, or quicker yet, look on top of your kick plate! : The repairman pointed to a big label that warns about this very thing. LOVE, HELOISE DEAR HELOISE: Here is a time-saving hint that I have found useful. If putting two coats of wax on a floor, wax only the center and heavily traveled parts with the first coat. This will cut down the wax buildup in the corners; then wax -the whole floor on the second coat. JUDY DEAR HELOISEI: One of the specialities of our house is upside-down pineapple cookies. Prepare your regular cooky batter and cut the batter with an empty cheese container. Place a slice of pineapple, brown sugar and a maraschino cherry on top, and bake. Of course, this is not reaUy an upside-down cooky, but a .right-side-up pineapple cooky. My family loves them, and thinks I'm a superb chef because I invented this goody for them. MARGARET FINKBINER DEAR HELOISE: Piled up dirty laundry always frustrated me. But not any more. · I now fold my dirty laundry and stack it in a hamper. A folded towel or sheet takes up much less space, leaving room for more shirts, etc. And, what a lift on washday! Makes my laundry look like less of a washday x job. Norway's Sex Symbol Doesn't Mind Nudity By ANGELO NATALE NEW YORK (AP) - "A sex symbol?" asks Norway's Julie Ege. crossing her legs in her hot pants. "In these days I see no need for it." "Everyone has his own sex .symbol today," the 24-year-old blonde a c t r e s s volunteers. "But if there is a need for a sex symbol, I don't mind being it." Julie, recently touring the United States to promote her new film, "Creatures the World Forgot," fe a product of the new, enlightened generation. "I do not play nude in this film. I look filthy and very authentic," she says of her role as a cave-woman. She doesn't speak a word. "I wear a long black wig, and no makeup," she says. But the rest is undisguised Julie Ege, who is being billed-needed or not--as the new sex symbol of the seventies. As for nudity before the camera, "well, what's wrong with that? I have no hangup about that. "I've already done a nude scene in 'Every Home Should Have One,' " she says. "After that my friends began calling me The Naked Ege.' " Hard to believe, but Julie insists she was a fat, ugly child. There's nothing of that left. Julie became a model at age 10, did a bit of television work, finally movies. M a r r i e d? "A couple of times," she says. Her first husband was a farmer, whom she wed when she turned 18 and shed nine months later, her second a dentist whom she divorced seven month's ago. She has a two-year-old daughter, Hjordis Joanna "No marriage again.' Julie says. "I'm through with it." Julie is not content to get by on her good looks alone. She takes acting lessons, and is frank enough to admit that not much dramatic ability has so far been required of her. She got her part in "Creatures" by winning out over almost 3,000 applicants in a talent hunt last year for an actress to follow in the footsteps of Raquel Welch. But it's not Raquel Welch in whose footsteps Julie hopes to follow. She says her idol still is Marilyn Monroe: "That face. An angel, and she was an actress.V She obviously enjoys being a girl, but feels right in step with the women's liberation movement. "I'm completely liberated," says Julie. She likes hot pants, and wear them often "now that I've lost some weight." She also finds them practical for travel. "I'm not carrying too many suitcases, and need a lot of different outfits and hot pants take up almost no room."
