ICKES SEEKS DATA ON RIVER (Continued Irnm I'age One) rant, and Henry Moore, Tex-arkana, Ark. "This committee," said Administrator Ickes. "will start an Immediate study of the projects which have been advanced in recent years for the further development of Red river In relation to a comprehensive Mississippi valley program.

"Red river forms an Important tributary of the Mississippi and it is proposed to co-ordinate Its development with the larger program in relation to flood control, power, navigation, reforestation and soil erosion. "Members of the committee were selected because of their familiarity with the problem and have all been recommended by leading officials In the states they represent," Ickes concluded. Congressman John N. Sandlln, Mlnden, received a telegram Wednesday from Mr. Dickson, president of the Caddo levee board, offering any assistance to the Red river committee that his organization can possibly give.

Congressman Sandlln then wired Dickson. Selection of a chairman of the Mississippi drainage area board Is still unannounced. When the chairman Is named, Representative Sandlln and other Red river basin congressmen will ask for an early hearing for projects to be proposed by the four states' committee. Largest of the projects, of course, is the proposed $36,000,000 dam near Denlson, which besides lifting the flood menace would provide for hydro-electric power development and all-year navigation on Red river as far as Fulton, It is said.
