Catholic priest based at St Ignatius said US Justice Depart ment mediator Wilbur Reed would meet with county officials on Tuesday in Polson then with tribal leaders the next day Those meetings will be preliminary to joint meetings ather Obersinner said ST IGNATIUS Delegates from Lake County and a lathead Indian Reservation task force have scheduled a series of closed door meetings with a federal mediator this week He said the meetings are geared to reaching agree ment in six problem areas defined in an agenda as taxation law enforcement water rights education land use and civil jurisdiction Reed and the delegates agreed to close the meetings to the public ather Obersinner siad The lathead task force is the only one still function ing on a Montana Indian reservation he said The local cure sought The Tri City Crime Prevention Bureau is cautioning persons engaged in construction to store building materials in a secure area after work hours A release from the bureau today said there have been several thefts of construction materials recently One victim of such a theft over the weekend reported the loss of $700 worth of windows obituaries Richard Baugher 57 Richard Earl Baugher 57 died in Kalispell Satur day morning He was born Oct 16 1918 in Conneaut Ohio a son of Mr and Mrs John Baugher He had received his education in Ohio He had served in the 27th Special Service Company of the US Army during World War II Mr Baugher was a musician and had traveled throughout the United States as a musi cian He had owned and operated the Allied Win dow Cleaning Service in Reno Nevada for the last year and about three weeks ago had moved to Kalispell He was a member of the Musicians Union He now is survived by his widow Wilma Baugher of Sun Valley Nev three sons David and' Michael Widman both of Sun Valley and Steven Widman of Moses Lake Wash one daughter Jennifer Baugher of Sun Valley one brother John Baugher of Reno one granddaughter and one nephew Services for Mr Baugher will be in the Johnson Chapel at 2 pm'' Wednes day Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery near Somers with military graveside rites being con ducted by the local veterans organizations Mild with a local briefs BOA meets tonight The Kalispell Board of Adjustments (BOA) possibly will vote on lathead application for a variance for the old hospital tonight at a regular meeting The meeting will be at 7:30 in the City Hall council chambers riday the board drew up a restrictive variance ex cluding certain county offices from the move to the hospital and requiring a traffic study six months after board to meet Mrs Hazle Gorton 92 a longtime resident of the lathead Valley died at the Colonial Manor in Whitefish Saturday even ing She was born eb 14 1884 in remond Neb a daughter of William and Mary Halstead At the age of five she moved with her family to Ainsworth Neb Hazle Gorton 92 She received her education in a near by rural school and the Long Pine High School after which she completed a normal course at Valentine Neb After teaching several terms at Ainsworth she came to Kalispell in June of 1905 to visit friends and had made her home here since that time On Sept 6 1908 she was married to Milo Richard Gorton who preceded her in death at ort Harrison on July 28 1952 Mrs Gorton was a member of the irst Presbyterian Church She is survived by one son Dale Gorton of Kalispell one daughter Helen Blackbum of Bel levue Wash four grandchildren and several other relatives Services for Mrs Gorton will be conducted in the Johnson Chapel at 4 pm Tuesday with the Rev Dr Odin Baugh of the irst Presbyterian Church of ficiating Burial will be in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery Myrtle Bailey 85 Myrtle Grace Bailey 85 died in Kalispell riday where she had lived many years Mrs Bailey was born July 24 1890 at Blue Earth Minn the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Nesbitt Hamilton At the age of four and after the death of her mother she lived with her aunt and uncle in West field Wis She attended Westfield High School and lived there until 1917 when she moved to Geraldine where she worked in a cafe for two years She was married to lathead in October of 1937 and farmed northwest of Kalispell She had been ac tive in the Stillwater Ladies Aid and the Home Demonstration Club in the Barbara California and three great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955 and two sons Charles Bailey a carpenter in Great alls on Dec 12 1919 and they moved to California one year later or a brief time they lived in Washington and Idaho before returning to Great alls in 1928 They moved to the area Surviving are her son Nesbitt (Nebb) Bailey and her daughter Mrs Lawrence (Hope) Evans both of Kalispell two grandchildren Terry Evans San Jose Califor nia and John Evans Santa
