The Hall of Fame installed 11 new members which included former athletes and coaches from Forest, Lake, Morton and Scott Central. East Central Community College head football coach Ken Karcher, pictured at right, served as the guest speaker. Nine members of last inaugural class attended the ceremony.

Members or their representatives of the 2016 class included, seated from left: Maurice L. Bowie (Morton), Annie B. Currie (Forest), Curtis Reed Davis (Morton), Larry Leo Johnson (Forest), representing the late Burney Kirkland (Scott Central) was Sara and Polly Kirkland, and Julie C. Latham (Morton). Standing: representing the late Carla Lowry (Forest) was Dot Lovett, Randy Martin, Melvin T.

Roland, representing the late Durward Smith (Forest) was Connie Wallmark and Kristi Regions, and Michael Wade (Forest). Nominations for future classes can be submitted at any time. BILLY FREEMAN Chamber announces golf tournament winners FOREST The Forest Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its 16th annual golf tournament under clear blue skies Thursday at Forest Country Club. The tournament featured a three-player scramble format and the following winners were announced after about five hours of play.

First place winners of flight one included Haywood Reeves, Carl Ivy and Mike Johnson. Second place winners of flight one included Tony Smith, Shane Breazeale and Tommy Bell. Third place winners of flight one included Billy Frank Alford, Chuck Wade and Burt Atkison. First place of flight two included Shane Wilbourne, Jeffery Cooper and Vance Cox. Second place of flight two included Donovan Cooksey, Casey Sharp and Ray Harper.

Third place of flight two included Chad Hall, Lee McDill and Drew Kenna. Additional awards were presented for Closest to the hole on select greens: Tony Smith, J.B. Ware, Haywood Reeves, Shane Breazeale and Brenda Tadlock. The longest drive awards went to Drew Kenna and Carl Ivy. CHESSER SIGNS SCHOLARSHIP Forest High School senior Chesser recently signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for Southwest Community College.

Joining him in the signing ceremony was his mother, Demetrice Chesser, and Forest head basketball coach Perry Fletcher. Members of one of several teams placing in the recent Forest Area Chamber of Commerce annual golf tournament included, from left, Drew Kenna, Chad Hall and Lee McDill. The group took third place in flight two. Run Forest Run! 5K event planned for April 7 in downtown area The Bank of Forest will sponsor its seventh annual Run Forest Run 5K event on Saturday, April 7, in the downtown area. Registration will start at 7 a.m.

and the race will start at 8 a.m. for runners and walkers. The half mile fun run for children will follow at 9 a.m. The fee for the is $20 and will increase to $25 after April 30. Prizes will be awarded to winners and door prizes will also be included.
