Chicago Tribune, Monday, February 26, 1990 Section 2 7 Obituaries of Chicago, died Thursday in his Uak Park home. He had been em ployed by the bank for 18 years, Mr. Goetzke was a member of the Union League Club and the River Forest Tennis Club. He also was active in the Community Chest of UaK Park. He grew up in Ueloit, and received a bachelor's degree from Beloit College and master of business administration degree from the University of Wisconsin.

William G. Meyers Sandro Pertini William G. Mevers. 79. a retired employee of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway died Thursday in Grant Hospital.

Mr. Meyers, a longtime resident of the Old Town neighborhood on Chicago's North Side, worked for the Ex-Italian chief Sandro Pertini, 93 rauroaa ior years ana at tne time of his retirement was the reservations information system manager. Survivors include his wife, Dorothea; a son, William two daughters, Louise Vaglica Virginia Stone Virginia Stone, 69, owner and publisher of three central Du Page County newspapers, died Thursday in Central Du Page Hospital, Winfield. Mrs. Stone published the Glen Ellyn News, Wheaton Leader and Winfield Estates newspapers. A resident of Glen Ellyn, she was active in her community and in Masonic activities. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Apollo No.

1 of Knights Templar. Mrs. Stone is survived by two sons, Stuart S. and Robert four daughters, Carole Baumann, Kay Haas, T.L. Sumner and Jan Sanderson; one brother, 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, 501 Cottage Ave. (at Main Glen Ellyn. Franklin S. Macomber Franklin 75, of Fremont, a former resident of Park Ridge and a retired management consultant, died Thursday in the home of a daughter in Ft.

Wayne, Ind. Mr. Macomber was a vice president of the A.T. Kearney a management consultant firm, until he retired in 1975 and moved to Clear Lake, Ind. He served as vice president of the Hillsdale County Railroad in Michigan until retiring from that position in 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas and Douglas; two daughters, Nancy Humbrecht and Marcia Feder-spiel; a sister; and six grandchildren. Mass was said Sunday in Clear Lake, Ind. Edwin A. Tysiak Edwin A. Tysiak, 80, a Chicago police officer for 31 years, died in his Oak Lawn home Friday.

A Chicago native, he was a member of the Illinois Police Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. He is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Edwin A. two daughters, Irene Gutsell, and Xenia Stryszak; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at St.

Louis DeMontfort Church, 8808 Ridgeland Oak Lawn. John W. Dwyer Sr. John W. Dwyer 83, a retired postal worker, died Friday in his Southwest Side home.

Mr. Dwyer worked 37 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago's main post office. He also worked nine years in the mail department at the Chicago Tribune. He is sur- vived by two sons, John W.

Mr. ROME (AP) Sandro Pertini, the beloved former Socialist president, symbol of integrity and World War II hero, died in his sleep at the age of 93 and was eulogized Sunday for his honesty and forthright style.

Mr. Pertini died late Saturday at his apartment in central Rome, Italian news media reported. No cause of death was given, but Mr. Pertini suffered a concussion when he fell in early February. He refused to be taken to a hospital, insisting he wanted to die at home.

The Cabinet, led by Premier Giulio Andreotti, met in special session Sunday and ordered flags flown at half-staff during the next two days. In accordance with Mr. Per-tini's wishes, no state funeral will be held. Mr. Pertini was to be cremated in Rome on Monday morning and his ashes taken to his birthplace outside Savona, near Genoa, for a private funeral, the ANSA news agency reported Pope John Paul II, in a condolence message, recalled his "warm friendship" with Mr.

Pertini, especially after the pontiff was shot in 1981 and Mr. Pertini kept a vigil outside the pope's hospital room. A founder of the Italian Socialist Party, Mr. Pertini spent nearly 10 years in fascist prisons. He was president from 1978 to 1985, restoring prestige to the largely ceremonial post He was elected by Parliament after Giovani Leone was forced to resign during a scandal involving unproven allegations of financial wrongdoing.
