Yale Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Fuller have returned from a 10-day wedding trip in northern Michigan and are living in the L. Roy Fuller residence, South Main street. Roy Fuller is vacationing at Elk Lake, northern Michigan.

8 Albert Ken ney, 85, resident of Custer town ship for the last 62 years, and for 1 Sanilac To Be Represented By Group At M.S.C. Aug. 15-16 Sandusky, Aug. 8 Winners in county competition in 4-H club contests in judging and demonstration work were chosen this week and will represent Sanilac county at the state-wide contest at Michigan State college, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 15-16.

Representing the county will be the canning Judging team, Virginia McAfee, Jeannette Beck, both of Applegate and Helen Brown, Cros-well: food judging, Dorothy Benjamin and Virginia Macklem, both of Croswell and Ruth Gugel, Min-den City; demonstration teams: dairy products, Betty and Gladys Pohl, both of Palms; outdoor meals, Marion Lapp and Leona Pohl, both of Palms, and canning, Ardith Poole and Bernlce Cleland, both of Deckerville. Others chosen earlier in the year to represent the county at East Lansing are: Clothing judging, Ellen O'Mara, Carsonville; Belva Meredith, Snover; Jean Klaus and Marion Schock, both of Minden City; wood identification, William Brandt, Palms and Keith Kirk, Applegate. Livestock and dairy judging teams will be selected the first of the week. 2nd Group Of 17 Sanilac Draftees To Leave Aug. 21 Sandusky, Aug.

8 Seventeen draftees will leave here at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, by chartered bus for Detroit where they will be inducted Into the United States army. Chief Clerk Walter J. Allenn said today.

This is the second group to leave Sanilac. Those In the group are Donald R. McKee and Welton S. Hill, both of Brown City; George F. Gisch and Elwyn R.

Smith, both of Arthur E. Umbriet, Minden City; Kenneth V. De Verna, Floyd J. King, Raymond J. McLeish Richard Lichtenfelt, David W.

Lee, Leland S. Vanderpool and James H. Cimmiyotto, all of Marlette; Lewis Sabo, Hermans; Donald A. McAllister and Wilbert K. Wahl, both of Sandusky; Clarence E.

Hardy, McGregor, and Albert W. P-eters, Tyre. Ernest W. Bombard, Carsonville, may also go in the group, if an extra man will be accepted the draft board officials said. Ar mer supervisor, died Thursday of wood for kindling and put it in his basement for lighting fires next winter.

He drives his 1920 model Ford to and from his work and says, "She doesn't complain about hauling the trailer full of wood." Mr. Crist said he would just as soon drive his car to Port Huron as rrty-where; he knows traffic laws and obeys them, and has never had an accident. Raises Own Tobacco His three-acre plot of land shows that he has spent much time planting, cultivating and keeping the weeds down. He has a splendid crop of beans just about matured, and a large field of popcorn that constitute his best crops this year. The drought has affected his other vegetables and fruit so they are not up to par with those of other years, but the whole place shows the result of his daily hand labor.

Mr. Crist uses no horse or tractor to lighten his work. Tobacco plants are abundant in his garden. Mr. Crist raised all the tobacco he has used for the last seven years.

Mr. Crist, who was born in Milwaukee, Aug. 8, 1844, was taken to Port Huron by his parents when only 14 months old. He lived there until 1888. He worked at ship-carpentering, sailed the Lakes in sailing vessels, and teamed for coal and lumber companies in Port Huron, and farmed in Sanilac and St.

Clair counties before coming to Yale 19 years ago. Mr. Crist married Miss Martha Hakens, Port Huron, in 1868. Mrs. Crist died in 1927 in Yale.

Of their 10 children, five are living: Mrs. William Leacock, Brockway; Mrs. William Pearson, Port Huron; Mrs. Ernest Herron, Avoca; Mrs. Mattie Flannigan, Yale, who lives with her father, and John Crist, Seattle, Wash.

8 Members of the congregation of the Baptist church attended a surprise party in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert his home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the home and at 2 p.m.

in Custer Methodist church. Rev. Phillip Goldie, pastor of Sandusky Free Methodist church, assisted by Rev. W. Firth, pastor of Deckerville Methodist will officiate.

Burial will be in Downing cemetery. Born May 4, 1856 in Selley's Bay, Mr. Kenney married the former Miss Jane Lang, Dec. 30, 1874 in Merricksville, Ont. They celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary in 1940.

They lived in Ontario until 1879 when they came to Custer township and settled on an 80-acre farm there. Mr. Kenney was long associated with Custer township public offices, having served as school officer of District No. 2, four years, justice of the peace, four years, highway commissioner, four years, clerk five years, and supervisor, 15 years, between 1907-12 and 1922-32. He retired from public life in 1932.

He attended the Custer Methodist church for the last 42 years and helped to lay the cornerstone of the present church building. Besides his widow, Mr. Kenney, is survived by a son, Ray Kenney, Custer township; six daughters, Mrs. George Phillips, Sandusky; Mrs. Elva Brown and Mrs.

Robert Scarborough, both of Detroit; Mrs. Elmer Doane, Custer township; Mrs. Earl Sampson, Elmer township, and Mrs. Byron Williamson, Deckerville; two brothers, Rueben Kenney, Selley's Bay, and -David Kenney, Coldberg, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lee, Custer township Mrs.

Jane Hope, Bothwell, 32 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 10c Kinde Russell Race, 19, who has been visiting his aunt, Mrs. Sidney MacDonald, here this week made the trip from Detroit on his bicycle, a distance of 120 miles in 10 hours. PEPPER -lb. pkg.

Other teachers are: Arthur Hes-burn, principal and music; Miss Mamie Minnick, home economics and English, and Mrs. Ralph Brown Miss Ida Platte and Mrs. Archie Mclntyre, grades.

Fifteen pupils of Greenleaf No. 1 school will be transported to school here by bus. Cass City A. H. Higgins, who has been in ill health for some time, is in Detroit to consult a specialist.

Members of the family attended from CroswelL Lexington, North Street, Fargo, Perry, Webberville, Detroit, Royal Oak and Port Huron. The 1942 reunion will be held in Infirmary park, Goodells, Aug. 2.

Clark-son Ochs who was originally appointed in charge of the newly constructed police post here was transferred to Pontiac where a temporary station is being opened at Keego Harbor this week. Sergeant Ochs will be replaced by Sergt Hiram Grimeson, who has been stationed at East Tawas. Sergeant Grimeson, along with Trooper Earl De Boer? who will be transferred here from the Bad Axe post, are expected to arrive Monday.
