Payne came to this city November 25. 190C. to take up work here as pastor of the church. In which capacity he served for nine years, but because of failing health he was obliged to discontinue about three and a half years ao. This pnitorate, with the added years of residence here, has endenred him to all who know him.

This real bond of fellowship was evinced list evenlnsr, when about one hundred and fifty people gathered at the church to bid them farewell, althouch the church had but short notice of their decision. A splendid supppr was prepared. A purse of twenty dollars was made up during the evening and presented to them.
