Wkhita News Margery Maynard, Correspondent OUT-OF-STATE GUESTS -Dari Bullard, Mr and Mrs Barbara and Jay of Las Vegas, Nev, have been guests the last two weeks in the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Lyle Kopaska! Additionalguests have been Mr and Mrs Tom Mulchahy, Sean, Stephen and Jill of St Paul, Minn. NEW JERSEY GUESTS -Mrs Bobby Jo Treen and Dougie of Cherry Hills, are guests of her parents, Mr and Mrs Ralph Kirkwood, for several days. Marcella Buttler visited Alice Jorgensen Thursday morning. Mr and Mrs Estel Lupardus visited Mr and Mrs Merle Reeves Wednesday evening. Mr and Mrs Elmer Kopaska, jr, and children camped out Thursday and Friday, staying overnight near Scranton.

The Wichita United Church Women served 25 Bayard Lions a dinner in the church hall. Alice Jorgensen had a coffee Friday morning for Mrs Roger eleven and Pat Fitzgerald of Des Moines and Elaine Kopaska. Mr and Mrs Walter Jensen of Fremont, Nebr, were weekend guests in the Jesse Fancher home. Rev and Mrs A Keith Hauser called Thursday afternoon on Mr and Mrs Lloyd Weigel and Alice Jorgensen. Mr and Mrs Carroll Lupardus attended the wedding of their niece, Mary Lucien Tribulsto, and Patrick Michael Lynch July 18 in Mary, Our Queen, Church in Omaha.

They were weekend guests of their children, Mr and Mrs Pal Green and Scoll, Mr and Mrs Dick Lupardus, Cindy, Lisa and Danny. Leland and Rea Kenyon were weekend guesls of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Dennis Hall, and family in Maryville, Mo. Mr and.Mrs Herbert Marlowe, jr, and two children of The Dalls, Ore, visited Saturday in Ihe Leland Kenyon and Lyle Kopaska homes, Laler they visited Mrs Anna Marlowe, in Stuart, their grandmother. Alice Jorgensen called in the Cliff Tuel home Saturday, morning. She was a dinner guesl of Mr and: Mrs Milo Crelsinger, also in Bayard.

Mr and Mrs Carroll Lupardus camped for a few days lasl week in a cabin on Spirit Lake wilh Mr and Mrs Ollie Slaybaugh of Sluart and their four grandchildren, Larry, Donald, Colleen and Judy McMillen. Ann, daughter of Mr and Mrs Clifford Lieb, has home afler visiling Mr and Mrs Tom Slevenson in Norwalk, for a week. Attending the annual Kopaska family reunion in Audubon Sunday were Mr and Mrs Elmer Kopaska, sr, Luella McCool, Edith, Arnold, Lois, Andrea and Stevie Kopaska, Elvina Durst, Mr and Mrs Mel vin Durst and sons and Mr and Mrs Sam Hurst, the latter of Perry. Saturday afternoon callers of Alice Jorgensen were Mr and Mrs Walter Rains and their grandchildren, Kim, Steve and Scotl Short of Gulhrie Center and Mrs Elvera Luella McCool was an evening visitor. Mr and Mrs Dennis McCool and family were Sunday guests of her parents, Mr and Mrs Gilbert Bell, in Alberl Cilv.

Mr and Mrs Carroll Lupardus were guesls in the Clyde Davis home for a Sunday evening barbecue. Afler Wichita church services sunday, Mr and Mrs Willard Ritcnie and their guests, Mrs Raymond Sharkey and Kristy of Waterford, Calif, visited Alice Jorgensen in her home. HONOR HAUSERS -Wednesday evening members of the Wichita United Methodist Church honored Rev and Mrs A Keith Hauser at a silver anniversary surprise party held in the Willard Kesslering home. A cooperative picnic supper and barbecue was attended by about 50 persons. The Hauser's anniversary was July 15.

The United Methodist Women provided wieners, hamburgers and buns and other foods were brought by those attending. Elsie Kesselring served a special cake and anniversary cards were placed in a wishing well centerpiece pn the table. A program was given for the honored guests. Alice Jorgensen read an original poem and a "This Is Your Life" type of program was conducted by Jaxine Richie with many Sunday School and Church members appearing. There was also an old-fashioned Chivaree and Reverend Hauser pushed his wife around in a wheelbarrow.

They also drove home in a highly decorated car which had been filled with newspapers and was decorated on the outside with tin cans, shaving cream, streamers and a "Just Married" sign. OHIO GUESTS -Mr and Mrs Jerry Holliday of Cleveland, Ohio, arrived Saturday for a two weeks' visit with his mother and aunt, Mrs Hazle Holliday and Mrs Jones in Bayard and with her parents, Mr and Mrs Clarence Hancock in Lewis. Saturday evening Mr and Mrs Holliday attended a reunion of his high school graduating class of 1955 in the Woodchuck Inn in Woodward. Mr and Mrs John Eggers of Yutan, Nebr, were Monday guests in the Jones home to visit the Ohio guests. Mr and Mrs Hancock of Lewis entertained.

Mrs Jones, Mrs Holliday and the Jerry Hollidays at dinner Tuesday evening in the Aztec Lounge in Coon Rapids. TO RECEPTION -Fritz Passehl of Anita is the newly elected commander of the Iowa American Legion. A reception was held in Anita Sunday to honor him on his election. Attending from Bayard were Ken Wetzel, Joe Ewing, Frank Bolts and Don Deaton. BIRTHDAY BRUNCH -Mr and Mrs Joe Murrane were hosts at a birthday brunch Sunday.

Guests were Mrs Richard Boone and Eric of Cincinnati, Ohio; John Greenfield of Des Moines; Greenfield and Jerry. Honored for July and August birthdays were John Greenfield, Mr Murrane and his daughter, Mrs Boone. VISIT IN SOUTH -Mr and Mrs Raymond Anderson and their granddaughters, Kristy and Kalhy Esslinger returned Tuesday from a len day bus Irip lo Florida. They Iraveled eighl slales in the east and south before arriving in Orlando, Fla. They stayed at a Hyatt House near Walt Disney World and visited there several days.

They went to Tarpon Springs where Mr Anderson went deep-sea fishing 40 miles off the coast in Ihe Gulf of Mexico- Mrs Anderson and Ihe girls look a boal trip off Ihe coast of the Gulf and watched divers hook sponges. Kristy and Kalhy have Iheir sponges on display al the Bayard Public Library. On their way home they spent one day in Nashville, Tenn. They were unable to get tickels lo see Ihe Grand Ole Opry as seats were sold out until November, for Friday night performances, and December for Saturday night performances. They toured the city and saw the homes of the country music stars.

They visited Ihe Wax Museum and also saw Ihe process of cutting records. They came igh Louisville, and Chicago'back to Iowa. Mr and Mrs Don Esslinger and Doug met them at the bus depot Tuesday evening. FIRST ANNIVERSARY -Mr and Mrs Dave Hart of Coon Rapids were Saturday afternoon guests of Mr and Mrs Dean Schoon, Kristy, Lee Ann, Donnie, Dena and Tracy. Mr and Mrs Hart, daughter and son-in-law of the hosts, were honored in celebration of their first wedding anniversary.

VACATION IN WEST -Mr and Mrs Earl Stone of Waukee and Betty Stone returned Sunday from a ten day vacation in Colorado. They visited Mr and Mrs Gary Stone and Jeff in Keenesberg, Colo, son and daughter-in-law of the Earl Stones. They all attended Frontier Days and the rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyo. From there they went to Grand Junction, Colo, and were guests of Larry Stone, also a son of the Earl Stones. Enroute home they were overnight guests of Mr and Mrs Carl Rinck in Omaha.

CLASS OF 1955 REUNION -Members of the Class of 1955 of Bayard high school held their 20th year reunion in the Woodchuck Inn in Woodward Saturday evening, July 26. The evening was spent socially and later dinner was served to 31 classmates and spouses and friends. Speical guests were Mrs Myrtle Williams, who was third grade teacher for the class, and her husband of Atlantic. Members of the class present were Mr and Mrs Stanley Bass (Mary Stoud) Banning, Calif; Mrs Tom Ferguson (Kathy Moylan) High Point, Mr and Mrs Jerry Holliday, Brookpark, Ohio; Mr and Mrs Daryl Carter (Barb Compton) Waukesha, Wise; Mrs Joe Moylan (Anna McClellan) Elkhorn, Nebr. Also, Mr and Mrs Bill Raymond, Joplin, Mo; Mr and Mrs Wayne Con way (Audrie Hefm'anson) Butler, Mo; Mr and Mrs Neil Bryan, Stuart; Mr and Mrs Marion Long (Marilyn VandenBrink) Ankeny, Carl Hoit, Rockwell City; Mr and Mrs Walter Pohl, Slater; Mr and Mrs Dillavou and Mr and Mrs Pete Bennett (Doris Schoon) Perry; Mr and Mrs Eugene Phelps and Mr and Mrs Dennis McCool of Bayard.

Mr and Mrs Bill Caraher also attended. Bill was a classmate through grade school. EIGHTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY -Dinner guests of Mrs Walter Nymand in Exira Sunday honored her in celebration of her 81st birthday. Guests were Mrs Janet Payne and family of Tucson, Ariz; Mr and Mrs Thomas Payne and Robert, Mr and Mrs Phil Knudsen of Exira; Honier Sumner of Coon Rapids; Mrs Bertha Molgaard and Bob Nymand, Robert and Jeff of Atlantic; Mr and Mrs Earl Lee Phelps, Jody and Don, Mr and Mrs Earl Phelps, Mrs Carl Boots and Mrs Ida Boots. Sunday dinner guests of Mrs Willard Belts were Gerald Esslinger of Scranton and Mr and Mrs Daryle Belts and Susan.

Mr and Mrs Lyle Kunkle and Mr and Mrs Ray Clark of Gulhrie Center and Mr and Mrs Dean Albright and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Ronald Albrighl and Bob. Jerry and Rose Marie Battles of Holyoke, Colo, and Mr and Mrs A Bailies were Tuesday supper guesls of Mr and Mrs Gary Battles and family in Waukee. Mrs Clarence Huss of Jefferson and Mrs Hazel Huss were Thursday evening visitors of Mrs Ina Greenlee. Mrs Ruth Heckman of Olympia, Wash, and Mrs Lois Carroll of Eslherville were Sunday morning visilors of Iheir sisler, Mrs Horace Carrick. Mr and Mrs Raymond Anderson and their granddaughters, Kristy and Kathy Esslinger, left July 14 for a vacation in Florida.

Earl Readinger of Greensbor- ough, was a Tuesday morning visitor of Mrs Alice Jorgensen. He visited McKinney in the afternoon. Mrs Jorgensen was a Thursday aflernoon visilor of the Ralph Readingers and Max La- throps. Mrs Nellie Ricks and Mrs Ruth Hultquisl altended the golden Bedding of Fred Martin in the Sheridan Avenue United Methodist Church in Des Moines Sunday. Mrs Martin is a sister of Mrs Ricks.

Rulh was the ring bearer at the wedding and the only member of the original wedding party who was able to attend. Mrs Ricks was the only one of Ihe brothers or sister able to atlend. The Bayard ladies met Wilbur Ricks of Afton in Adel and wenl with him lo Des Moines. He is a son of Mrs Ricks. Mr and Mrs Bill Raymond and family of Joplin, Mo, and Mrs Clair Olson of Yale were Monday supper guesls of Mr and Mrs Gerald Raymond.

Mr and Mrs Warren Bowman and Vaughn of Audubon were evening callers. Mr and Mrs Estell Peckumn were Monday evening visitors of Mr and Mrs Paul McClellan in, Jefferson. Jennifer Nielsen of Van Meter was a guesl of her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Albert Wetzel, from Monday until Friday and a weekend guest of her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Paul Nielsen. Mr and Mrs Eugene Scheuermann, Stephanie and Justine of Des Moines were Saturday overnight and Sunday guesls of Mr and Mrs Clarence Scheuermann. They were enroute home from a vacation in Colorado.

Mrs Vera Stone was a Saturday evening visitor. The Des Moines guests also called in the Gary Hunler home. MINNESOTA GUESTS -Mrs Mabel Winters and Mrs Ruth Drengson of Granite Falls, Minn, arrived Friday to visit sisters of Mrs Winters, Mrs Lula Ocheltree, Mrs Laura Crees and Carrie Neal in Bayard and Mrs Orlo Whitten in Coon Rapids. Sunday afternoon and supper guests of Mrs Crees and Carrie Neal were the Minnesota guests, Mr and -Mrs Boyd Crees, Tom, Brad and Jolene of Humboldt; Mr and Mrs Harley Martin, Joyce and Jane of Grimes. Sunday afternoon Mrs Winters, Mrs Drengson, Mrs Ocheltree and Carrie Neal attended a bridal shower at the Steve Kult home in Coon RapidTFTionoririg Judy Thompson of Coon Rapids who will wed Tom Kult, a grand nephew of Ihe ladies.

Mr and Mrs Gerald Whitten, Teresa, Tim and Tom of Redfield were evening visitors in the Crees home. MARYLAND GUESTS -Dr and Mrs Gene McClellan and Ben of Bowie, Md, arrived Tuesday of lasl week to visit his parents, Mr and Mrs John McClellan, other relatives and friends. They had visited in Florida for a week, seeing the launching of the Appolo Spacecraft and also visiled Disney World. Mr and Mrs John McClellan were hosts at a cooperative supper Wednesday in the Bayard park to honor their guests. Atlending were Andrew Rosenbeck and Mr and Mrs David Rosenbeck, Julie and Jared of Gulhrie Center; Leon McClellan and Doris Calendar of Ames; Mr and Mrs Donald Knight and sons of Jefferson and Mr and Mrs Tim Hilgenberg.

Thursday Dr and Mrs McClellan met Mr and Mrs Terry Ritchie in of Fort Dodge in Jefferson for a visit. The McClellans went on to Marshalllown where Ihey met Dr and Mrs Gene Cretsinger of Cedar Rapids for dinner in the evening. Monday the John McClellans and the Gene McClellans were morning visitors in the Ward McClellan, jr, home. The Marylanders Monday afternoon for their home. FOURTH BIRTHDAY -Mr and Mrs Jim Jackson entertained Mrs Gary Guzinski, Jodi and Shari at dinner Tuesday, July 15.

They honored their great Shari, on her fourth birthday. Thursday Mr and Mrs Guzinski, Jodi and Shari visited the Children's Zoo in Des Moines to further honor Shari. Mr and Mrs Dale Allen of Nevada were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr and Mrs Charles Mantz. They had recently spent three weeks with their son and daughter-in-law, the Keith Aliens at Pentiction, British Columbia, Canada and called on the Lowell Mantzes at Camp Colonel at Long Lake near Park Rapids, Minn. Mr and Mrs Ron Mozena, Wendy, Amy and Stacy were Sunday dinner guesls of Mr and Mrs Omar Coffman in Carroll.

Olher guests were Mr and Mrs Harry Crouch, Bennie and Jimmy of Ansley, Nebr. The two families were guests of Ihe Mozenas for a barbecue supper Monday. Mr and Mrs Winfred Barrett were Sunday evening visitors of Mrs Mabel Bylund in Coon Rapids. Mr and jJMrs Harold Olson of Chicago and other relatives were present. Mrs Olson is a daughter of Mrs Bylund.

Gary Battles of Waukee was a weekend guest of Mr and Mrs A Battles and Jerry and Rose Marie Battles of Holyoke, Colo, who are visiting their grandparents, the A Battles. Jerry and Rose Marie have spent Iwo weeks here and lefl Wednesday from Ihe airporl in Omaha for Iheir home. Mr and Mrs Otto Murphy were Friday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Donald Murphy in Dawson. Mr and Mrs Keith Warner of Perry were Monday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Earl Wolf and Chris. Mr and Mrs Leonard Troshynski of Guthrie Center and Mr and Mrs Gene Hilgenberg were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr and Mrs Marvin Shackelford.

Mrs Fern Hemenway returned Sunday from a two weeks visit with friends in Des Moines. Mr and Mrs Homer Stormer and Mr and Mrs Lockwood camped at Nation Bridge campsite near Sluarl from Wednesday unlil Sunday. Rev and Mrs Russell Bennington and Karen of Guthrie Center and Mr and Mrs Lee Greenlee, Danny and Tesa of Des Moines were Monday of last week visitors of Mrs Ina Greenlee. Mrs John Brill of Albuquerque, has been visiting her mother, Mrs Fred Schoonover in Guthrie Center, and other relatives. Mr and Mrs Bill Schoonover were Tuesday supper guests of Mr and Mrs Rex Schoonover and family in Guthrie Center to visit Mrs Brill and Thursday supper guests of Mrs Fred Schoonover.

Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Ralph Clark were Mr and Mrs Marvin Lee of Guthrie Center and Mr and Mrs Lester Games and Terry of Coon Rapids. Mrs Nahkunst of Hamburg was a guest last week of her sisler-in-law, Mrs Louis Buhr, and visiled her mother, Mrs Alma Buhr, in the Bayard Care Center. Mrs Buhr and Mrs Marion Vaughan took her home and were overnight guests, returning home Monday. Mr and Mrs Ross Scott and Mrs Raymond Sharkey and Kristy of Waterford, Calif, were Monday callers of Mr and Mrs Winfred Barrett. Mr and Mrs Glenn Marchanl of rural Guthrie Center visited Mr and Mrs Paul Watkins Sunday evening, July 20.

Sunday dinner guests of Mrs A Calvert were Mrs Gladys Rhodes of Greeley, Colo; Mrs Nellie Guslin of Gulhrie Center and Mrs Rhodes of Jefferson. Mr ind Mrs Gerald Kelly were Thursday evening visitors of Mr and Mrs Romaine Lockwood. Visitors of Mr and Mrs Gerald Kelly during the week were Mr and Mrs Estel Lewis of Panora; Mr and Mrs Bernard Setter of Scranton; Mr and Mrs Sam Milligan and Brandy of Albuquerque, and Mrs Paul Larson of Elk Horn. Mrs Milligan and Mrs Larsen are the former Pam and Margaret Liston, neighbors of the Kellys several years ago. Lee Miller of Coon Rapids; Donnie Winnett and Brian Hilgenberg wenl lo Mr Miller's cabin on the Mississippi River near Lansing Wednesday for a few days of fishing.

Mr and Mrs Don Robertson and Brett of Carroll were Sunday breakfast guests of Mr and Mrs Bill Schoonover. Mr and Mrs Roy Van Roekel of Perry were dinner guesls and Mr and Mrs Bill Baker of Lake City were evening coffee guesls. Robyn, Dean and Denise Hopkins relurneu Sunday from a six weeks visil with their father and step mother, Mr and Mrs Gary Hopkins at Colorado Springs, Colo. Mark Eischeid of Guthrie Center; Danny O'Toole and Judee Hopkins met her children at McCook, Nebr, Sunday. Visitors in the Howard Holt home during the weekend were Mr and Mrs Arden Hoit, David, Kristi and Kalhy of Omaha; Carl Hoil and Daniel of Rockwell Cily; Mr and Mrs Arnold Hoit, Darin and Daril of Gulhrie Cenler; Mrs Ann Madsen, Chrisline, Carla and Carl of Manning and Mr and Mrs Kenneth Wclzel and Beverly.

Mrs Clarence Heater and her granddaughter, Jennifer Heater, of Lawlon, Okla, were Friday morning callers of Mrs Hilda Nissen. Bruce Hall of Des Moines was a Sunday dinner guesl of Mr and Mrs Gerald Hall. Mrs Cecile Buckmaster of Arvada, Colo, arrived Sunday of last week to visit relatives and friends in the area. She was a guest lasl week of her sisler, Mrs Lewis Halterman, in Guthrie Center and is visiting another sister, Mrs Esther Murphy, in Stuart, this week. THURSDAY, JULY 31.

1975 Funeral servlcei for Frank Reinhart, Sr, of Carroll, a former Coon Rapids resident, were held Thursday afternoon at the Dahn- Woodhouse funeral home in Carroll. Attending from this area were Mrs Helen Belts, Mrs Jessie Belts, Mrs Bonnie Chase and Mrs Hans Olesen of Coon Rapids and Mr and Mrs Winfred Barrett and Mrs Ray Mays from Bayard. Mr and Mrs Clyde Robblns of Des Moines were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr and Mrs Everett Cornish and supper guests of Mr and Mrs Arden Patterson. Cletus Hess was in Des Moines Monday. Mr and Mrs Bill Caraher, Mark.

John, Colleen and Maureen and their guest, Mike Neuerburg of Omaha attended a family picnic supper Sunday at the Manning park. Mrs Robert Jacobs and children of Davis, Calif, were honored guests. Mrs Jacobs is an aunt of Mrs Caraher. Mrs A Calvert accompanied Mr and Mrs Cliff Trostle and Mrs Nellie Gustin of Guthrie Center and Rulh Evans of Des Moines to Richland Wednesday. They attended funeral services of Mrs Glennie Shullz there.

Mr and Mrs Ike Lyons of Scranton; Mrs Jack Gilliam and Mrs Beulah Blackley of Olympia, Wash, and Don Deaton were Tuesday evening visitors of Mr and Mrs Gerald Kelly. Mr and Mrs Stephen Heater and Brian of Gilman were guests from Tuesday until Sunday evening in the Danny Sease. and Clarence Heater homes. July 12 and 13 guests of Mr and Mrs Bill Caraher, Mark, John, Colleen and Maureen were Mr and Mrs Glenn Neuerburg, Mike, Cathy, Sandy and John of Omaha. Mr and Mrs Jim Neuerburg, Joey and Michelle of Carroll and Mrs Ann Neuerburg of Willey joined them for dinner Sunday.

Mike stayed to visit in Ihe Caraher home for a week. Mr and Mrs LeRoy Guernsey and family were Thursday dinner guesls of Mr and Mrs Gerald Kelly. Mr and Mrs Tom Vaux, Diedra and Doug and Mr and Mrs Harry Jacobsen returned Saturday from a weeks vacation spent at the Lowell Mantzes Camp Colonel at Long Lake near Park Rapids, Minn. Mr and Mrs Tom Snow of Scranton were Saturday evening visitors of Mr and Mrs Jack Waldo. Mrs Kenneth Bryan was a Friday visitor of Mrs Walt Schoessler at St Anthony hospital in Carroll.

Mr and Mrs Harley Martin, Joyce and Jane of Grimes and Mrs Ada Martin visited last weekend in Ihe Harold Kloewer home in Papillion, Nebr. Mr and Mrs Wilfred Reisl and Sleven of Brownville, Texas, were also guesls Ihere. Ada Marlin is Ihe molher of Mrs Reist, Mrs Kloewer and Harley. The Reisls also visiled several days wilh Mrs Marlin in Bayard. Mrs Richard Boone and Eric of Cincinnati, Ohio, are visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Joe Murrane.

Mrs Boone is here for the wedding of Mari Pal Siedhoff and Mike Brooks August 2. Mrs Cletus Hess was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr and Mrs Harris Hess in Coon Rapids. Dr and Mrs Gene McClellan and Ben of Bowie, Md, were Friday supper guests of Mr and Mrs Richard Vaughan, Tom, Lee Ann, Doug and Sara. Mr and Mrs Paul Morrison of Des Moines and Mr and Mrs Ken Robinson visited in Grand Island, Nebr, from Friday until Sunday. They went to see Terry Lacy.

Saturday night they met Mr and Mrs Len Wood of North Platte, Nebr, in Kearney for dinner. Mrs Wood is the former Mary Lengemann. Mary Morrison of Des Moines met Her parents in Bayard Sunday evening to take them to their home. Mr and Mrs Paul Watkins were Friday evening visitors of Mr and Mrs Paul McClellan in Jefferson. Mrs Romaine Lockwood and Mrs Kenneth Nazarene were in Lake City Tuesday.
