CROSS TIMBERS Mrs. Chloris Owsley, 85, see obituary. Helen Hudgings Small Helen Hudgings Small, 95, Ash Grove, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2005, in Ash Grove Health Care Facility. Helen was born near Ash Grove on September 9, 1909, to Walter Albertus and Della Cenia Gilman- Hudgings.

A life long resident of the Ash Grove area, she taught school for 40 years, 18 of which were at Ash Grove. She retired in 1974. She was a member of the Ash Grove First Christian Church. Helen was united in marriage to George L. Small on September 14, 1940.

George preceded Helen in death on May 28, 1988, having spent 48 years together. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister Lettie Bowling; two brothers, Roy and Harry Hudgings; two nephews; and a niece. Helen is survived by a son, G.L. and wife Shawna, Ash Grove; two grandchildren, James Andrew Small and Michelle Slatten and husband Darrell, all of Ash Grove; and six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Coty, Eli, Noah, Abby, and Nic Slatten. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m.

Thursday, February 17, 2005 in Ash Grove Cemetery with the Reverend Tom Geer officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Birch Funeral Home of Ash Grove. Bill W. Hawkins USA Retired (1932-2005) Bill Hawkins was born April 26, 1932, to Clay and Rosa (Little) Hawkins in Nixa, Missouri, where he attended school. Bill graduated from SMSU with a degree in business and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the Army. He met and married Joyce Walker in 1955 and began his military career in 1956, when he attended both fixed wing and helicopter schools.

After serving four years of active duty, he returned to Springfield, where he worked for and ran Misemer Pharmaceuticals and joined the National Guard. Bill was Commander of Company 142nd Transportation Brigade (1960-1961), Company Commander of 1106th Transportation Brigade (1968-1975), Battalion Commander of 142nd Transportation Brigade (1976- 1979), and Commander of the 1107th Aviation AVCRAD Command (1983-1988). He retired as a Colonel after 33 years of military service and focused his energy on real estate, a cabin at the lake, and traveling with his wife. Bill was a member of King's Way United Methodist Church, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Ozark Yacht Club, Scuba Club, Sertoma, Downtown YMCA (where he played handball with his buddies at noon), and was the Past President of the Spring Creek Property Owners Association. loved to work with his hands and was a "jack of all trades." He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather Bill Hawkins is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Hawkins; their four children, Debra Webb and her husband Rob, Michelle Fitzgerald and her husband Mark, Chris Hawkins and his wife Debbie (Tilley), Kevin Hawkins and his wife Karol; seven grandchildren, Justin, Natalie, and Lindsay Fitzgerald, Sam and Jake Klayton and Kyndal Hawkins; a sister, Barbara Ann Hedgepeth, of Alaska; two brothers-in-law, George Walker and his wife Janet, and Paul Walker; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are 4 p.m. today in King's Way United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Charles Buck officiating. A visitation will follow in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to King's Way United Methodist Church, YMCA, Sertoma, Hospice of St. John's, or the Glendale High School Choir.

She was born in Springfield, June 21, 1922.

She was the eldest daughter of Douglas and Dara Choate. She married Jess S. Foster, June 6, 1947. Ester worked for many years at Newberrys on the square and then worked at the first Wal-Mart in Springfield at Kansas and Kearney until her retirement in 1989. She was active in several clubs: the Grandmothers Club, the Wal-Mart group, and planning class reunions for the class of 1940.

She was a faithful member of National Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess Foster on December 24, 1995; daughter, Jackie Dudley; and sister, Myrtle Priser. She is survived by her sons, Charles Vaughan and wife Melanie, Larry Vaughan, Marvin Vaughan and wife Connie, Mike Foster and wife Sue, all of Springfield; daughters, Earlene Jones and husband Floyd, Halfway, Janice Letterman and husband Andy of Mt. Vernon, Pat Dolis and Phillis Irvine, both of Republic, Debbi King and Pam Foster and fiance Mike Lobin, both of Springfield; 36 grandchildren; great children; one great great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Jim Choate and wife Margaret, and Jerry Choate and wife Mildred, both of Kansas City, Lawrence Choate and wife Maxine, and David Choate and wife Joenna, Springfield; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at National Heights Baptist Church at 10 a.m.

Thursday, February 17, 2005, with burial in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Thomas Edward Barham Thomas Edward Barham, 60, passed away January 27, 2005, in his residence in Green Castle, Ind. He was born on June 9, 1944, in Independence, Mo.

He was the son of Edd Barham and Rosetta (Buzick) Barham. He held a B.S. in Recreation from S.M.S.U. and M.A. in Environmental Education from Indiana University.

He is survived by one son, Beniamin, Green Castle, his mother, Rosetta Barham, Cabool; his sister, Juanita McGownd and husband Gerald, Cabool; his brother, Bill Barham, Walnut Grove; as well as eight nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held in Springfield, Missouri. Ellyn Marie Lawrence passed away February 14, 2005, in the Christian Care Center, Hermitage, Mo. She was born March 27, 1906, in Red to Frank E. and Amandas.

Swanson. Ellyn was the oldest of six children, the others preceding death. Ellyn grew up in Essex, lowa, and after High School entered nurses training and graduated in 1929 as a R.N. at the lowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Des Moines, lowa. Ellyn met her late husband, Roy G.

Lawrence, who was a patient of hers, and a year later they were married on December 20, 1930, in Boone, Iowa. After raising a family in Des Moines, Iowa, Ellyn and Roy lived in Prairie village, and other cities, finally retiring in Wheatland, where she was a member of the GaiCommunity Bible Church, active in civic groups, and was a past Worthy Matron and District Deputy Grand Matron of Hermitage Chapter 99 Order of Eastern Star. Ellyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Carlson, White Bear, Lake, sons, Ronald Lebanon, Richard Flower Mound, Texas, and Robert Wheatland, six grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, February 18, 2005, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Rick Walters the Galmey Community Bible Church officiating in the Hathaway -Peterman Funeral Home, Wheatland, MO.

Graveside services will be held in the Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Des Moines, Iowa, with Pastor Sharon Worthington, Grandview Lutheran Church, Des Moines, officiating, Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2005, 8 p.m. with an Order of Eastern Star Ceremony at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Galmey Community Bible Church or Applewood Lane, an organization that supports people with disabilities. Vernon Henry "Pop" Blevins Vernon Henry "Pop" Blevins, 88, Ozark, passed away Monday, February 14, 2005. He was born July 15, 1916, in the Community, the son of Henry Thomas Blevins and Lillie Mae (Baird) Blevins.

He graduated from Nixa High School in 1934. He played baseball in High School and continued to enjoy and teach the sport to others. On November 11, 1939, Vernon and Edna G. Payne were united in marriage. Mr.

Blevins was a dairy and beef farmer. He was a member of Selmore Christian Church where he faithfully served as deacon and greeter. He was a director for MFA, and also served on the Selmore Special Road District for many years. He enioyed fishing and quail hunting with his dogs. His parents preceded him in death; as well as two brothers, Loyal and Carl Blevins.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; two children, Dr. Blevins, Columbia, and Patsy Hanks and husband Dennis, Ozark; three grandchildren, Brent Hanks and wife Lori, Marty Hanks and wife Michelle, all of Ozark, and Jeremy Blevins, Columbia; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Easton and Olivia Hanks, and Parker and Sutton Hanks; a sister-in-law, Thelma Blevins, Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.

Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery, south of Ozark. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Selmore Christian Church, 519 Tatum Drive, Ozark, MO 65721. (AL 504 W.
