PAGE B-8 ALTON EVENING TELEGRAPH MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 1965 Obituaries Collins John L. Collins, 67, a projectionist at the Grand Theater, and employe of Alton theaters for 45 years, died Saturday at 10 a.m. in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, where he had been a patient three weeks. Mr.

Collins began work at the Old Hippodrome. He lived at 318 East Broadway. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Collins, he was born Jan.

22, 1898, at Muncie, and moved with his parents to Alton 55 years ago. He attended St. Patrick's School. His wife, Ihc former Bertha VanSchocland, whom he married Feb. 2, 1924, died in 1940.

Surviving are two sons, Douglas, Farmington, a William, Los Angeles, two brothers, Patrick, Alton, and Thomas, Ilardin; five sisters, Mrs. Arnold Gibson, Mrs. Eugene Sawyer, Mrs. Edward Markley, Mrs Louis Henning, and Mrs. Elmer Chlldcrs, Alton, and five grandchildren.

A brother preceded him in death. A Requiem High Mass will be sung Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St.

Patrick's Cemetery. The body is at Statcn Chapel where friends may call. The Rosary will be at p.m. today. April 8, 1890 in Moro Township a son of the late Edward ami Mathilda Henke.

His first wife the former Miss Emma Dust man, died in 1935 and he is survived by his second wife, the former Mrs. Frma Warren, to whom he was married July 29 1942. Also surviving are two sons Wilbur E. of Lakewood, and Elvin A. of Oradell, N.J.; a stepson, Norman Warren of Edwardsville; a stepdaughter, Mrs.

William Dettmer of Bethalto; three brothers and three sisters, Herbert and Otto of Ed wardsville. Walter Henke, Mrs. Alfred Dustman, Mrs. Edward Engclkc and Mrs. Fred Paul all of Pralrietown.

He was a member of Eden United Church of Christ, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday by the pastor, Rev. Robert Laaser. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pletcher Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Prairictown Cemetery. Nichols Henke EDWARDSVILLE Edwin Rhlnehart Henke, 74, of 326A died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Alton. A retired employe of the Illinois Lumber he was born Clifford C.

Nichols, 72, of 319 .1. Dclmar Hartford, a retired Shell Oil employe, died Saturday at 10:05 p.m. In Barnes Hospital, St. Loui where he had been a patient six days. Mr.

Nichols, who had lived in Hartford 40 years, was born in Vinita, Feb. 28, 1892. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Augustas Nichols.

Mr. Nichols attended Church of Christ, Hartford, and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 525, and of Shell Recreation Club. He had completed 25 years service at the oil refinery when he retired in 1952. Surviving are his widow, the former Delora Taylor, whom he married Dec. 26, 1909, at Oswego, iwo daughters, Mrs.

Norville D. Pickering and Mrs. Ruth McGary, Hartford; two sons, John, Hartford, and Thomas, South Roxana; a brother, Claude, Hollywood, a sister, Mrs. Irene Belew, Garland, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A daughter died in infancy and a brother and a sister also preceded him In death.

The body Is at Marks Mortuary where fi lends may call af- tor 5 p.m. today. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. In the mortuary, with the Rev. E.

Holmes was a member of Calvary Southern Baptist Church and pastor of. the church, the Rev. Howard Todd Taylor, will officiate at service Wednesday at p.m. in Gent Chapel. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park.

Holmes, 2715 Salu a retired Owens-Illinois em- ploye, died at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Hospital. She had been in 111 Ihrcc years and a patient in the lo.spital me day. The former Annie Nlckens, she was born March 8, 1887, at Fidelity, a daughter of the late Mr.

and Mrs. Michael She was married March 6, 1906, at Jcrseyvllle to Mr. Holmes They lived at the Salu street home for 40 years. Surviving beside her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Dan Colson, Godfrey; two sons, Glenn Fosterburg, and Vale, Alton; two brothers, Harry Nickens, Tylcrtown, and Carl Godfrey; a sister, Mrs.

John M. Schmidt, Alton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. William Nelder, Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie C.

today. Frank E. Hueneger of 60 Cot- Mrs. Hueneger, the wife of tage Cottage Hills, died Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital shortly after her arrival there.

She had been In ill health since 1951. After retiring from teaching school she taught piano, organ and accordion in her home. She was a member of Cottage Hills Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday school class and was church pianist. The former Bessie Lanterman, she was bom April 18,1892 in Ft. Russell Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.

William H. Lanterman. She was married in 1924 at Moro to Frank E. Hueneger. They were parents of 10 chil dren.

Surviving beside her husband are six daughters, Jennie Hueneger, Cottage Hills, Mrs. A. J. Whittaker, East Alton, Mrs. Ruth Robbins, Lakewood, Mrs.

Alfred Jacobi, and Mrs. Lawrence Oglesby, Bethalto, Mrs. Joe Secco, Staunton; three sons, Frank, Moro, Louis, Worden, and Chris, Bunker Hill; a sister, Mrs. Wheeler Morgan, Cottage Hills; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A son preceded her in death.

He had undergone surgery last week. Before moving to Wrights Mr. Burton had operated a grocery store in Carrollton. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, at Wrights, Greene County Farm Bureau an dthc Masonic Lodge. Born Sept.

28, 1891, at White Hall, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Burton. Survivors are his widow the former Martha Doyle; a daughter, Mrs. John Carter Carrollton; two sisters, Mrs.

K. S. Wright, Wrights; Mrs. Earl Williams, Manchester; eight grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. A son and a daughter preceded him in death.

The body is at Mehl Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. Yevin Mrs.

Mary Sandor Yevin, 86, of Madison, died of infirmities early today. Survivors include two sons, six daughters and a brother, none from the Telegraph area. The body is at the Sedlack Funeral Home, 615 Madison in Madison, where Parastas services will be held at 8 p.m. today and Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Wednesday, at the funeral home and in the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Edwardsville Township. Wilton Don-Is Wilton Dorris W. Wilton, 62, of S118 Leverett an analyst at Me Donnell Air Craft died Sunday of a heart attack. He was pronounced dead on at Alton Memorial Hospital at 9:10 a.m.

Wilton had suffered previous attacks, but had recovered, and had been active and had continued to work until Friday. He had been at the McDonnell corporation for 20 years and prior to that at Owens Illinois for 20 years. He was a member of Main Street Methodist Church, and Woodbine Country Club. Born Aug. 14, 1902, at Huey, he was a son of the late Mr.

and Mrs. Otis W. Wilton. He was married in June of 1921, in Alton to the Blanche Watkins. His widow; a daughter, Mrs.

James H. Wood, Sioux City, Iowa, and a son, Dorris Wilton, Alton, survive. He also leaves a brother, L. W. Wilton, Alton, and four grandsons.

A brother, Floyd, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. John Henderson, pastor of Main Street Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.

Visiting hours at the funeral home will be after 7 p.m. to day. SudfeM, Webster Groves and Mrs. Carolyn Fritz of High Hill, and John Recker of Almo, Tex. He was a member of the Unit- id Church of Christ.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Warner Funeral Home of Brighton, wtlh the Rev. Harvey Meckfessel presiding. Burial will be in the Bott Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m.

today. Crofton Ethel F. Crofton, 88, a resident of Alton for 60 years, died today at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton. She had been in ill health for the last six weeks.

Mrs. Crofton, who lived at 3635 Berkeley, Alton, was born in Newbern, Dec. 12, 1876. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs.

William Knapp. She married James E. Crof ton Nov. 27, 1908. He died in 1956.

Surviving are a daughter: Mrs. Clarence P. Aldinger of Alton. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St.

Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery. Friends may call at Burke Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Patrick's Coiwtery. Staten Funeral Home 220 Court Alton BRIGHTON August H. Recker, 86, of Brighton, died Saturday night in the Macoupin County Nursing Home at Carlinville. He had been a patient there for the past 16 months. Born Nov.

29, 1878 in Piasa Township at Brighton, he was the son of the late Charles and Louise Recker. He married the former Miss Lucille Degert, who died in 1953. He was a brick layer and masonry contractor and worked all his life in Brighton. Survivors include thret sisters and a brother: Mrs. Dena Wiese of St.

Louis; Mrs. Minetl daughter, Mrs. Manning, are a brother, Casper Beelmann, and a sister, Mrs. Raymond Miller. Alton.

There are two grandchll dren. The body is at Marks Mortu ary where friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday. A Requiem Mass will be sung Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St.

Bernard's Church, Wood River, 'ollowed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Alton. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Ledbetter Mrs. Mae Ledbetter, 74, of West Frankfort, died Sunday of a heart attack.

She was the widow of Everett Ledbetter, who died Feb. 3. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Sawers of Wood River, and six other children from West Frankfort or Kankakee; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Smith of Alton, and two brothers, both of West Frankfort.

Friends may call at the Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, today. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Apostolic Faith Assembly Church, West Frankfort. Stahl BRUSSELS Vincent Stahl, 57, died Saturday at 9:30 p.m. of a heart attack at his home.

He was the father of 10 children. Surviving are his widow, Cecelia; three sons, Robert, William and Vincent, Brussels; Sister Mary Vincent, Mount Providence, Normandy; Betty, Bemadette, Catherine, Cecelia, Mary Lou and Leola, Brussels. Tuesday. BRUSSELS Lela Viola Zah- rli, 48, of Brussels, died Friday in St. Mary's Hospital, St. Louis. She was in Calhoun County on July 17, 1916, daughter of George and Laura Brink Geisler.

She was married to a Zahrli. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Willman of Cottage Hills; a son, Gerald, of Brussels; and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the C. C.

Hanks Funeral Home in Brussels today. The rosary will be said this evening and funeral services will be held in St Mary's Church, Brussels, at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Thomas Gough will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. McCluskey CARLINVILLE H. Foster McCluskey, 68, of 429 N. Charles died Sunday at his home.

Born Oct. 4, 1896, in Comber 111., he had been an employe for 21 years of the Illinois Terminal Railroad. He is survived by his widow, Dorothea Murphy McCluskey. Friends may call today at the Brookshire Memorial Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.

today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Francis Manning, in Rosewood Heights. She was the widow of Frank Meyer a former manager ol Walnut Grove Dairy In Wood River. Mrs. Meyer had been ill since Dec.

2, 1964, and had been a patient in St. Anthony's Hospi tal for three weeks. Born at Saint Libory, March 3, 1895, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Casper Beelmann.

Her marriage to Mr. Meyer took place in Belle ville in 1917. Before coming to Wood Riv er 40 years ago she had lived in Belleville. She was a member of St. Bernard's Parish; the church Al tar Society and Catholic Wo mens Hub.

Wat son, 75, a former Hardin area resident, died unexpectedly at St. Louis Saturday evening. He was born in the Gilead area of Calhoun County, son of the late Capt. and Mrs.

Roy Watson. He was an engineer in world Wars I and II and served on government boats since the latter conflict. His wife, son and a brother, who reside in St. Louis, survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m.

J. J. Haggerty as celebrant, was sung at 9 a.m. today in SS. Peter Paul's Church for Miss Henrietta Fingleton.

Holford Burial In Upper Alton Funeral services for Abram Holford, 96, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Streeper Funeral Home in Alton. Woodrow Schultz of Kingdom Hall, Jehovah Witnesses, Alton, conducted the service. Burial was in Upper Alton Cemetery. Pallbearers were: James Kogel, Gene Losch, Bernard Mlil- er, Bert Clevenger, Cecil Doyle and Marion Greene.

Schuster Burial in Valhalla Memorial Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Schuster were held at 1 p.m. today in Gent Chapel, by the Rev, F. M. Hedger.

Burial was in Val halla Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Lloyd Rog ers, William Walter, James ant Lyle Mager, Harry Funk and John Melvin, Patrick Carter Fined $85 Today Patrick J. Carter, 23, of 1141 Long Alton, was fined $85 this morning by Magistrate George Roberts after pleading guilty to charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and in toxication. Carter, Alton police said, was arrested Sunday morning at his home after he caused a disturb ance. Police said they had to use force to bring Carter undei control.
