WINNERS GOP Nominates Scott For Congress In 25th Associated Press Congressmen succeeded Tuesday in winning party nominations against splinted opposition in the Illinois primary. For 16 others, the primary was a formality. They had no opposition.

But there were three wide open contests for nomination for three vacancies in the state's 25-member delegation to the House of Representatives. The' incumbents who overcame challenges for party nomination were: Republicans Noah M. Mason of Oglesby, 15th district, and Rep. Robert B. Oiiperfield of Canton, 19th district.

Democrats Rep. Barrett DlHara of Chicago, 2nd district; Rep. John C. Kluczynski of Chicago, 5th district; Rep. Sidney R.

Yates of Chicago, 9th district and Rep. Peter F. Mack Jr. of Carlinville, 21st district. Among the Republicans, there was a close contest, between Robert H.

Michel of Peoria and James M. Unland of Pekin in the 18th district. Rep. Harold Vclde of decided not to i-un again, and tossed his support to Michel who was his secretary for seven years. With three-fourth of the district re porting, Michel had a slight lead Another close race existed in the Republican 10th district where a vacancy was caused by Rep.

Richard W. Hoffman's decision to leave Congress. Harold R. Collier of Berwyn held a slight lead over James A. Howe of Oak Park with slightly more than half of the district's precinct's reporting.

In the district's Democratic contest, Marvin E. Lore was apparent winner over Joseph LaBarbers of Chicago. In the 14th district, where the death of Rep. Chauncey W. Reed of West Chicago left a vacancy, the Republican nomination was won handily by Russell Keeney of Wheaton.

The Democratic nomination in the 14th apparently went to Harold Spelman of West Oiicago. Former Rep. Edgar A. Jonas who was defeated in the 12th district two years ago by Democrat dharles A. Boyle, won the Republican nomination easily Boyle was unopposed for renoml- nation.

State Rep. Martin P. Sutor of Galesburg got the Democratic nomination from John Kerwin Jr. of Rock Island-in the 19th district. Kerwin.

the Democratic nominee in 1954, lost to Chiperfield by nearly 15,000 votes. Here are the apparent nominees in other contests: District 1, Republican-George W. Lawrence, Chicago. District 3, Republican Emmet F. Byrne, Chicago.

District 4, ael Hinko, Park Forest. District 5, Republican Lawrence Welnowski, Chicago. District 8, R. Wright, Chicago. District 9, S.

Bob Thomas- Memos On The Movies BY BOB THOMAS Associated Press HOLLYWOOD Memos on movies Wonder if anyone in Hollywood realizes what the flood of big studio films on TV will mean to theaters. Wouldn't citizens rather stay home and a good old movie than go out and see a mediocre new one? Folks are wondering if Marilyn Monroe is pulling a Garbo. Dodging reporters, photogs, etc. Never thought we'd see that.

Humphrey Bogart is feeling much better that his throat operation. He's growling at reporters again Youngest looker at the Mary Pickford silent stars party: Laura LaPlante. Handsomest: Bill Boyd. Liveliest: Jack Oakie, despite rumors he was dead. There's plenty of life in those oldtimers still "The Man in the Gray Flannel suit" won't upset the TV-advertising crowd.

The book's sting has been taken out of the movie. It's heavily- plotted, engrossing film fare Seeing Fredric March in two recent films makes me realize anew he's America's best actor. He deserves more starring roles. "Moby Dick'' will be the controversial film of the year. Critics will praise its pictorial beauty and literary style, but will audiences dig its 19th century speech? gracious Oscar winner in many yeare: Ernest Borgnine.

Reporters are sorry to see Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando leaving the country for a spell. But at least we got Errol Flynn and Orson Welles back Stars of "Tea and Sympathy" are Deborah Kerr (car) and John Kerr (cur). Do you care? Kerr In 1933, 350,000 U.
