Mr. Jimmie Wayne Walker, 58, see obituary. Lois Jean Miller Lois Jean Miller, 61, of Springfield, passed away in Cox South Hospital on July 8, 2008. Lois was born August 6, 1946, in Burge Hospital, in Springfield, to Marie S. (Byrd) and Harold C.

Miller. She graduated from Glendale High School and received the Lord at a young age. She worked several years for Joe Kastendieck Insurance Co. and the State of Missouri. She loved her cats and dogs and was a member of East Side General Baptist Church.

Lois was preceded in death by her fater; She is survived by her mother; brothers, Paul McQuay and wife, Sue, Charles Miller and wife, Connie and Kevin Miller and wife, Lisa; sisters, Judy Starnes and husband, Paul, and Sandra Miller; and "adopted son" Timmy Hawley. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m., in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be made to www.klingnercope.com. at White Chapel 866-5012 Charles "Chuck" Ernest Melton Charles "Chuck" Ernest Melton died Tuesday, July 8, in Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was born December 22, 1912, in Strafford, Mo.

His parents passed away early in his life and he was raised by several members of his extended family. Charles moved to Parsons, Kansas as a young man, and graduated from Parsons High School. Charles entered the army in 1941, and married Imogene Helvey during his service. They moved back to Wichita, in 1950, where he began work as a salesman. They were blessed with two daughters, Donna Jean and Anita.

Charles fulfilled his dream of designing and building his own home in 1970, in Springfield, a few miles away from his birthplace. After their move, Charles was employed at Hoffman Supply where he retired in 1989. Charles and Imogene enjoyed watching their family grow and expand until she passed away in 1991. He soon remarried Evelyn Johns of Wichita, Kan. Charles and Eve enjoyed traveling and growing older together until her death in 2007.

He spent the last years of his life in his beloved home, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was an expert storyteller, and would amuse anyone who wanted to chat, he never knew a stranger. He looked at the world with a lot of wonder, always endeavoring to learn something new. Charles was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. He loved having big family dinners, traveling, fishing and boating, being outdoors (especially around his rural home), watching sports on TV, and anything that would take him places, like cars, motorcycles, airplanes and boats.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Florence Melton; his mother, Mary Alice Bodenhamer; first wife, Imogene Helvey; and second wife, Evelyn Johns. Charles is survived by brother James Melton and wife, Grace; brother-in-law C.R. Helvey and wife, Louise; daughter Donna Hadix; daughter Anita Goad and husband, Greg; step-daughter Julie Seigel; grandchildren Kirsten Kuroyva and husband, Maco, Dawn Hernandez, Craig Hadix and wife, Kristi, Jeremy Hadix, Melissa Reece and husband, Matthew, Megan Lannholm and husband, Mark, and Ashley Goad; greatgrandchildren, Danielle, Cassandra, Nina, and Rose Hernandez, Jadyn and Caleb Hadix, Matthew Lannholm, and Brayden and Braxton Reece; and greatgre Liliana Hernandez. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., in the Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, followed by internment in Danforth Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.

tonight, in GormanScharpf Funeral Home. Dr. Oral Bascom Crawford, Jr. Dr. Crawford died peacefully July 8, 2008.

He was born July 3, 1921, in Brookfield, to Oral B. and Tottie Lois Crawford. He graduated from Hickman High School in 1938, in Columbia, Mo. He received a BS degree from the University of Missouri and his medical doctorate from Louisiana State University. He served his internship at Kansas City General Hospital then served in World War as a Captain providing medical services.

After completing his training in Anesthesiology, he moved to Springfield, in July 1949. He joined St. John's medical staff until his retirement in 1994. Dr. Crawford was the first Board Certified Anesthesiologist in Springfield.

Because the medical specialty was new, he implemented a board-approved Anesthesiology residency and began the school for nurse anesthetists, which has graduated hundreds of anesthetists. He invented an epidural needle (called the Crawford needle) that is displayed at the Smithsonian. He was asked by the FDA to test a drug, Citanest, a local anesthetic, providing an alternative to general anesthesia. He served the regional community as President of St John's hospital staff, President of the Greene County Medical Society, President of Missouri Society of Anesthesiologists, President of Southern States of Anesthesiologists and participated as chairman on both the Missouri Society and the Southern Society of Anesthesiologists. Nationally, he was invited to serve as an oral examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology in 1956 and continued to serve as an examiner through 1995.

He was elected to serve as a Board Director for 12 years and served as President 1983-84. He was a member of Hickory Hills Country Club. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, enjoying his yearly trips to Alaska. He loved to float the Ozark streams especially the Buffalo River. He was preceded in death by his son, Oral Crawford II1, and his brother, Dr.

Arch L. Crawford. He is survived by his wife, Vernetta M. Crawford; five children, Pat Owens, Jackie Crawford, Barbara Pruett, Peggy Thomas and Brett Ashley Crawford; four stepchildren, Mike Willhoit, Sherry Willhoit, Mark Willhoit and Merry Carmichael; an older sister, Mildred Hourigan and her children, Tom and Joyce; plus many loved grandchildren great-grand-children. A gathering to honor and celebrate his life will be at Hickory Hills Country Club at 2 p.m., this Friday, July .11.

He departed this life on July 8, 2008, in his home, with his family. He was born to Harley and Martha Roberts. Bud was united in marriage to Eula Mae Branam on May 10, 1947, she preceded him in death in 2004. He is survived by his loving children, Jean Ann and husband, Dennis Coberly, Sandy and husband, Ed Miller and David Roberts and wife, Cindy; five grandchildren, Todd and Sarah Miller, Jennifer Coberly, and Derek and Dylan Roberts, all of Springfield; and a sister, Virginia Young and brother, James Roberts, both of Springfield. A younger sister, Ruth Hungerford, preceded him in death.

He was owner and operator of Roberts Meat 919 E. Central, from 1962, until his retirement in 1974. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge No. 5 AF and AM, a member of the American Legion Post 676 and a veteran of World War 11. He was a member of Christ Church Unity.

Dad built his cabin, Bud's Happy Shack, on Table Rock Lake in 1955, which has been enioyed by many family members and friends through the years. He enioyed hunting in his younger years, as well as fishing and boating. Dad will be sadly missed by his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend, to all he knew and who knew him. A very special thanks to St.

John's Hospice Care, without their commitment, love and caring hearts, as well as the other caregivers, we would have never made it through this difficult time. God bless you all. Vernon Veteran's Home, Mt. Vernon, following an extended illness. Harce was born in Wishart, and was a lifelong resident of the Aldrich and Eudora areas. He was a farmer and was employed with the Polk County Road Department for 15 years. He was an Army Veteran of World War 11.

He was a member of the Eudora Baptist Church. Harce Coble and Martha Dobbins were united in marriage on January 2, 1941. To this union one son was born. They were privileged to share over 67 years together. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clell and Mina Creed Coble; one sister, Viola Chastain; and two brothers, Arie and Gerald Coble.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; son Mike and wife, Deborah Coble of Walnut Grove; two grandchildren, Erica Coble of Raleigh, North Carolina and Clayton Coble of Aldrich, Missouri; one brother, Raymond and wife, Rose Coble of Willard; and one sister, Gladys Wiess of Walnut Grove. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008, in Eudora Baptist Church, Eudora, with Rev. Jim White and Rev. Lon Killingsworth officiating and Erica Coble giving the eulogy.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aldrich, under the direction of WilsonBrim- Daniel Funeral Home of Walnut Grove. Kevin Gabriel Cogdill Kevin Gabriel Cogdill, 51, of Hartville, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in Hartville Care Center.

He was a graduate of Hartville High School with the class of 1976, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartville. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. Owen and Doris C. (O'Dell) Cogdill; and a brother, Knial Cogdill. He is survived by a sister, Judy Arnall of Hartville, four brothers, Garnall Cogdill of Strafford, Karmon Cogdill of Lebanon, Faron Cogdill of Rogersville, and Klaron Cogdill of Hartville, a sister-inlaw, Jane Cogdill of Springfield, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 2 p.m., in the First Baptist Church of Hartville. Jim was born July 27, 1949, in Springfield, to Don L. and Vesta (Edwards) Walker. Jim graduated from Parkview High School and soon joined the U.S.

Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam. On returning, he became a Springfield Fire Fighter and later moved to Rogers, Arkansas, and was employed in various industries. Jim is survived by three mond, Auburn, Maine, daughters, Erika Hama Tara Lusher, Round Rock, Texas and Cassandra Goff, Fayetteville, one son, Zach Walker of Fayetteville, a dear and caring step-mother, June Walker of Springfield, an uncle, J.D. Edwards, also of Springfield; and a number of cousins and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Don L.

Walker; his mother, Vesta Walker; and his only sibling, Pamela Jo (Walker) Evans. Jim will be missed by many friends and family.
