Lansing, Area Deaths and Funerals Jennie Skutt Mrs. Jennie Skutt, 82, of 1119 Westfield, died Saturday in a local hospital. Mrs. Skutt had been a resident of Lansing for 46 years. Surviving 1 a son, Gerald L.

of Alger. Burglars Get Coins, Other Loot Coins valued at nearly $2,000 were among items taken in several thefts and break-ins reported to Lansing and Michigan State Police over the weekend. Lansing officers report the Coin Shop, 1829 S. Washington, was broken into Sunday night and about $1,000 worth of coins are missing. State police said some rare half-dollars, worth $890 were taken from a display case at a coin show in the Meridian Mall in Okemos Saturday night.

They belonged to Harold Simon, 108 N. Magnolia, officials said. The Richard Miller home at 1300 S. Canal, was broken into early Sunday, State Police said. Missing are a stereo set, television, shotgun and field glasses worth $730.

The Dewald Sound Equipment 300 N. Verlinden, was broken into over the weekend. Missing, according to police, are a tape deck player and speakers, portable television and an undetermined amount of cash. $297 MISSING A break-in was discovered at the Madison Gulf Station, 200 S. Logan early Missing is a metal box containing $297, Lansing officers report.

A stereo set was reported missing form the Carol McDaniels residence, 1119 Church, Sunday night. Stereo tapes were reported stolen from the William Mazurek home, 1818 Vermont, last night. Both homes were broken into, police said. Tools belonging to the City of Lansing were reported stolen from a city building at 2400 Reo, Sunday, police report. About $275 worth of car parts were reported stolen from the basement of Building 15 at Meadow Brook Trace Apartments early today.

They belonged to Gerald Matyus, 3101 Beau Jardih, police report. A Lansing man told police late Saturday night that someone smashed his car windshield in the 200 block of S. Logan. He attempted to catch the vandals, but instead was attacked by several black and white youths who later fled after taking his wallet which contained about $115 cash, officers reports stated. Two major weekend thefts were reported to Michigan State University campus police.

Officers said they are investigating the theft of an electric typewriter, valued at $250, from Room A-124 Veterinary Clinic. Police are also searching for a $250 canoe reported stolen Sunday from the MSU canoe shelter on the Red Cedar River, near Farm Lane. Four Injured In Isabella MT. PLEASANT Four persons were injured in two separate accidents in Isabella County Saturday night and early Monday morning. Christ Kreiner, 16, suffered severe leg injuries when the motorcycle he was driving struck the rear of a truck driven by Donald Apple, 19, on Summerton Road, two miles east of Rosebush.

Both drivers are from Rosebush. Isabella deputies said the truck skidded into the path of the motorcycle. Apple was not hurt. Mrs. Clara M.

Berry, 34, and her daughter, Dawn, 10, of Birch Monday Run, when were their injured car early struck in the rear by another driven by George Hupscher, 18, of Mt. Pleasant. Survivors are her husband, Norman a daughter, Mrs. William G. McClintock of Detroit; three grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Norton of Oakland, Calif. Services will be at 2:30 p.m.

Walkaways Apprehended By Police BEAVER GROVE (UPI)Two men who walked away from the medium security dor-. mitory of the Marquette State Prison were apprehended here Sunday night. State Police from the Marquette post picked Wilson Smith, 29, Detroit, and Gary who had been he reported missing Buffington, 26, East Lansing, from the prison since Friday night.

Smith had been serving a 5- 15 year term for assault to commit robbery while Buffington had been confined on a 7-10 year sentence for breaking and entering. Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Palmer Bush Funeral Home with burial in Deepdale Memorial Park. Lulu Mae Davis CHARLOTTE Services for Mrs. Lulu Mae Davis, 84, a former Charlotte resident, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Pray Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis died Saturday at an East Lansing convalescent home, where she had been a patient one and a half years. She moved from Charlotte to Lansing lived at 510 W. Willow. 1951 she retired as a linotype operator at The Flint Journal.

Surviving are a stepson, Russell Davis of Flint, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Tanner of Charlotte. Albert Leven Six-year-old Albert Leven, a first grade student at Stoner School, drowned over the weekend while on vacation in Laredo, Tex. with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Leven, 2605 W. Kalamazoo. It was learned here that the youth plunged into a pool with other swimmers but was unable to swim himself and drowned before he could be rescued. Surviving also are three brothers, Frank, Carlos and Robert and two sisters, Dianna and Patsy. Funeral services and burial were held today in Laredo with the Jackson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ira M. Faulkner CHARLOTTE Ira M. Faulkner, 84, of 2548 E. ville R. 4, died Sunday at his home.

A retired farmer, he had lived in this area his entire life. Surviving are three sons, Hugh of Livonia, Lynn of Eaton Rapids and Carroll of Marshall; three daughters, Mrs. Ivadean Dickinson of Charlotte, Miss Ilah Faulkner, at home, and Mrs. Alta Poskey of rural Charlotte, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. will be at 10:30 p.m.

Blowout Causes I-96 Accident Two persons were hurt early today when a tire blew out, causing their car to roll over on the median of I-96 north of Willow Michigan State Police report.

Vandals Close Hunter Pool Hunter Park Swimming Pool was closed today because vandals Sunday night threw glass and other objects into the water. Parks and Recreation Department workmen said they were cleaning glass and human waste from the pool and hoped to have it back in operation by 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Mary Ann Quinn ALMA Services for Miss Mary Ann Quinn, 25, formerly of Alma, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Marys Catholic Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Miss Quinn died Friday at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Md. She had been living in Arlington, about five years and was a legal secretary at the Pentagon.

She was a teacher in rural schools in the area and was a longtime corespondent for the Ionia Sentinel, an Ionia newspaper. was a member of the North Plains Community Church and the church's Ladies Society. Surviving are four sons, Howard and Donald, both of Ionia, John of Lakeview and Thomas of Lyons; a foster son, Edward Small of Ionia; 13 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren. Burial will be in New Haven Center Cemetery. HENRY (HOMER) HAYNES Country Singer Homer Dies LANSING, 111. (UPI) Henry T. Haynes, the guitarplaying Homer in the countrysinging, down-home comedy team of Homer, and Jethro, will be buries, Wednesday. Haynes, was preparing for a performance at the Great Midwest Fair Saturday when he complained of chest pains and shortness of breath.

He died at a Hammond, hospital a few hours later. Homer and Jethro (Kenneth Burns) first performed professionally as a team in 1939 at Tennessee's Renfro Valley Square Dance. They blended solid country singing with Homer's fine guitar and Jethro's mandolin touch in their patter and songs that charmed millions of fans. The duo's first million-seller record was "The Battle of Kukamonga," a parody of a 1950s ord followed record and, by of chart tune. Hit recthe time Homer and Jethro cut last record some two months ago, they had 50 albums to their credit.

(AP) Retired Navy Vice Adm. George L. Weyler, 85, who directed a defeat of the Japanese navy in World War II that was hailed as a turning point for Allied victory in the Pacific, died Friday. Weyler retired from the Navy in 1946. June Rockwell Levy BURRILLVILLE, R.I.

(AP) Mrs. June Rockwell Levy, 85, widow of philanthropist Austin T. Levy, died Sunday at her home. Mrs. Levy's husband, the founder of Stillwater Worsted Mills, died in 1951.

Willis L. Brownlee a recent graduate of the Detroit College of Law, has joined the Ingham County prosecutor's staff. Brownlee, 42, served in the Air Force during the Korean War and attended William Jennings Bryan University in Dayton, Tenn. He also did post graduate work in counseling at Michigan State University. Prior to enrolling in school in 1967, Brownlee spent almost 10 years in the Ingham County Probate Court where he was a casework supervisor and a hearing referee.

WILLIS BROWNLEE WILLIS BROWNLEE Shooting Victim, 26, In Critical Condition Ronald McFadden, 26, of 425 Butler is in the intensive care unit at Sparrow Hospital today in critical condition because of a gunshot wound in his head sustained Sunday afternoon at a S. Francis address. Officials at the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office said shortly after the incident Lansing police, arrested Willie Smith, about 50 years old, of Detroit Street. A warrant was to be issued today charging Smith with assault with intent to commit muder, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Donald Martin said. Lansing Fire Department crews reported McFadden was found in a driveway at 717 S.

Francis suffering from a massive wound to the left temple. Martin said the weapon used is believed to have been a .22 caliber rifle. Lansing officers are also investigating a shooting incident which took place early today in the 400 block of S. Chestnut. They report John Walker, 22, of 2319 Bernard suffered a gunshot wound in the stomach.

He underwent surgery at St. Lawrence Hospital this morning. Officials at the prosecutor's office said no arrests have been made in the case and no warrant has been issued.
