He says he is busier now than when he was working. By SAMANTHA FRANK Palm Beach Post Staff Writer BOCA RATON Duane Webster doesn't care what the calendar says. The 88-year-old Boca Raton resident said that he's still a kid at heart. So it came as no surprise to those that know him when he decided to celebrate his 88th birthday last month by jumping out of a plane at 13,500 feet. "It was a lot of fun," said Webster, who had gone skydiving twice before then.

"You get a rush of excitement." Webster grew up in Worcester, and attended Davidson College in North Carolina as a pre-med student until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 just a few days shy of Webster's 20th birthday. Webster immediately joined the U.S. Marine Corps as a navigator, where he remained for six years, and never returned to school. From there he worked as a navigator for the now-defunct Trans World Airlines, and later, as the president of a metal castings company. He tried to retire several times throughout his life, but found that he was happiest when he was busy.

He officially retired in June 2007, at age 85, after working as the director of purchasing for Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton for nearly 20 years. He is proud to say that he was the school's oldest employee ever. In addition to skydiving these days, Webster If you're having trouble controllirg your diabetes, consider participating in HARMONY, a research study evaluating an investigational diabetes medication that's taken only once a week.
