It was out in front of him but he caught it and made a great run. I thought it was a big play." Frazier, who hit 8 of 13 passes for 143 -yards, also ran for 81 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 37-yard run early in the second half. The Cornhuskers moved the ball al- most at will against Missouri but couldn't score in the first quarter. Ne-- braska drove toward the end zone on its first possession but Frazier lost a fumble at the 4-yard line. Frazier also was intercepted early in the second quarter, breaking a string of 55 straight passes without an interception.

The Huskers put a lid on Missouri's pass attack a week after giving up a Big Eight-record 489 yards to Kansas State's Chad May. Missouri's Jeff Handy, who threw for Back to form: Nebraska has an easy time with Missouri after a struggle with Kansas State. The Associated Press LINCOLN, Neb. One week after struggling against Kansas State, No. 5 Nebraska returned to peak form by manhandling Missouri 49-7.

"Now, that's a little more like it," coach Tom Osborne said after Calvin Jones ran for two touchdowns and caught one of Tommie Frazier's two TD passes to lead the Cornhuskers. On the other side of the ball, Nebraska's defense shut down the Missouri passing game. "The thing they did was control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball," Missouri coach Bob Stull said. "Offensively, we couldn't pass-protect so obviously we couldn't throw it. Defensively, they were moving the ball with the inside run.

We were worried about the option and they came and ran it right at us." "We probably played our most complete game of the year," Osborne said. "That was something we were concerned about. I thought the defense played a great ball game. Offensively we were quite consistent. I was pleased to see us come together and play as well as we did." Jones scored on runs of 4 and 1 yards as he gained 129 yards on 27 carries for the Cornhuskers (7-0 overall, 3-0 Big Eight).

Missouri (2-4-1, 1-2) lost to Nebraska for the 15th straight time. Frazier's TD passes went 7 yards to Clester Johnson and 55 yards on a swing pass to Jones in the final minute of the first half. "The drive right before the half was a 424 yards against Nebraska in a 34-24 loss a year ago, managed only 76 yards through the first three quarters against Nebraska's first-team defense. Handy ended up with 104 yards on 14- of-23 passing, well short of his 220-yard average. i "I think they had some deep passes called but we put more pressure on the quarterback than we did last week," Os- borne said.

"The pressure was better and I didn't see any glaring busts out there. "Other than the one drive they had, the defense nlaved ereat football." 1. FLORIDA STATE (7-0) did not play. Next: vs. Wake Forest, Saturday.
