Looking for information on Sherman Hitchcock, who lived in Douglas County, about 1850, married Sara Workman, believed to be Indian. Sherman had at least one brother, John Hitchcock. doctor Evertt, born about 1890 around Douglas County, married June 13, 1916, Douglas County, Mertie May Shipley, born Sept. 22, 1898, Douglas County, daughter of William Landon Shipley, born July 4, 1877, Douglas County, died March 3, 1971, Mansfield, Mo. Charles and Mertie had one son, Ernest Theodore Hitchcock, born 1917, near Macomb, in Douglas County. Charles died about 1920 in California. He left a wife and son in Douglas County Gloria Carter is a southwest Missouri genealogist.
