4A Iowa City Press-Citizen Saturday, April 19, 2003 RECORDS REGION Escape Protest at ACT mmmrr Obituaries E.C. Heitshusen 58 E.C. "Sandy" Heitshusen age 58 of 3701 2nd Street, Coralville, died of leukemia Thursday, April 17, 2003, at his home with his family. i t- I I rretdom There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Saturday) at Gay and Cilia Funeral and Cremation Service in 0 Arc ivr in i "-M iuMMi nam Iowa City.

Family graveside services are planned for a Heitshusen From 1A Wilkins likely is unaware how close authorities might be, officials said. The arrest doubtfully would have gotten a mention from the Atlanta press, especially with a Thursday double homicide of a suburban housewife and her 14-year-old son. Parris stressed the escapees are in no way connected to that case. So far, state and federal arrest warrants charge the men with escape and unlawful flight. Additional charges are likely.

"I think you can expect a combination of state and federal charges and those decisions will be made fairly quickly," Johnson County Attorney J. Patrick White said. Wilkins and Hershberger were in the Oakdale prison yard during their scheduled recreational period when they climbed two fences and fled the medium-security facility off Highway 965, north of Interstate 80. They carjacked a Ford Taurus in the parking lot and drove to a remote location northwest of North Liberty. There, they robbed a fisherman, forced him into the car's trunk and stole his van.

Prison officials have said construction led them to turn off a high-tech fence alarm as long as seven months ago. Measures since have been taken to increase prison security. A third inmate faces discipline and possible criminal charges for assisting the escape by distracting a correctional officer. It is not known how soon Hershberger will be extradited back to Iowa "I don't know what to think," his sister said Friday, uncertain whether she would visit him once he returns. "I don't know if I can face him." William Kidwell, 67 William A "Bill" Kidwell, 67, of 655 Arlington Drive, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at his winter home in Sun Lakes, Ariz.

$1350. 319-631-5130 628 Houses for Rent The University of Iowa and MidAmerican Energy have signed an agreement that will help meet the university's electricity needs through 2008. Doug True, UI vice president for finance and university services, said a major benefit will be price stability for purchased electricity through the term of the agreement Currently, the university cogenerates 30 percent of its electric power needs in a combined heat and power plant and purchases the remainder. Under the agreement, the university annually will purchase 200 million kilowatt hours of electricity, enough to supply 20,000 average residential customers for a year. Reliable services, delivered at an economical price, are top priorities for the university utility system, True said.

The system supplies steam, electric power, potable water, chilled water for air conditioning, and sewer services to the entire central campus, including University Hospitals (with a 772-bed hospital), residence halls housing about 5,700 students, and computers and other equipment supporting the UI's research activities. "The contract is structured such that the university is encouraged to manage its energy resources effectively," said Ferman Milster, UI Facilities Services Group associate director of utilities who directs UI power plant operations. "For example, the central plant operators monitor real-time prices for various electric power options that may be available. University operators then make decisions about whether to produce or purchase power based on the most economical mode of operation. Such decisions are based on fuel availability, time of day, and season of the year." PART TIME Receptionist: Primary duties include answering phones scheduling clients in busy healthcare office.
