2B Iowa City Press-Citizen LIFE Saturday, March 22, 2003 What common dreams may mean Tlw Associated Press Travel From IB Munich, Vienna, Prague or Amsterdam. We skied, mingled, ate, and drank beer with the locals in all these areas." Says Carol George of Pittsford, N.Y., who is just back from France: "On several occasions, people asked us if we were being treated OK, told us they were glad we came, said that (French President Jacques) Chirac is the problem, that we citizens are not responsible for our governments (in either case), and they always wished us a pleasant stay and hoped we would return soon." Deals despite dollar woes Those looking for an incentive to visit will find some fire-sale prices, even though the dollar has been losing strength One traveler booking through Priceline.com snagged a hotel in usually pricey London for a song last week: a night at a London Novotel for $68 plus tax. The posted room rate was about $250. And though European airfares traditionally rise April 1, tliis winter's deals round trips in the $200 to $300 range are sticking around. The old rules that encouraged leisure travelers to book Europe more than 30 days in advance are out the window, says Geoff Silvers, director of marketing for the Orbitz on-line booking service.

"Now there are low rates for next weekend" Financially struggling carriers, which took a beating under similar circumstances in tine 1991 Gulf War, are in a state of "desperation," Silvers says. "The airlines are really just trying to fill seats any way they can." And they have them to fill. "All the airlines have tons of empty seats" in coming weeks, says StudentUniverse.com's LitlMeld. What's the prognosis for summer? Airlines probably will lower capacity to Europe as a cost-saving measure, experts say. And "when people are comfortable, they'll start booking again," Silvers says.

"We do believe there is strong pent-up demand," says Rob Franklin, European Travel Commission chairman. Europe needs all the U.S. tourists it can get the number of Americans who visited in 2002 was down about 2.5 million from the record 13. 1 million in 2000. As for summer prices, they're currently at traditional levels because the airlines haven't yet focused on them, say experts, and carriers try to make as much as they can on advance bookings.

Reduced flights and higher fuel prices also could send fares soaring. But with pricing more fluid than ever, "you'll see deals available this summer," Shellenberger says. However, airlines can't afford to keep giving away seats, Silvers says. "You could get lucky if you wait, but if you have exact dates you need to travel, and you get a good fare, I'd say grab it" deal with our issue. Naked in public: We lose our drawers when we feel vulnerable, exposed, unprepared or that we have revealed too much Some of us, however, like the "naked dream," and those people are the kind who let it all hang out and who feel they have nothing to hide.

Back in school or late for exam dream: This is one of those feeling-unprepared dreams, and it can vary depending on profession or life interest For example, a disc jockey could dream of dead air, an actor may dream of forgetting his lines. The dream also can happen when we're in a competitive arena, not unlike being at school, and our ability and intellect are at stake. The five most common dream symbols and what they could mean: Falling: Fear of failure or losing control or status. Flying: Children dream more of flying than adults do, probably because they do not know their limits. A flying dream can come when everything is going well and you are soaring, but it also can come when your woes are heavy.

Being chased: We get chased when there is something going on that we are trying to avoid. It also is the most common recurring dream, which probably is the dream weaver's way of chasing us down and getting us to pay attention and Events 'ngagementC1eddingscC7 nniversaries chievements IRTHDAYS III!
