Norton and George Lewis, while on their way from Crothersville Friday night, the former going to Russell's Chapel, where he was holding a series of meetings, were waylaid and robbed by two burly negroes, near the Brown farm. A lively combat' ensued between Lewis and the negroes, Lewis knocking one down with a wagon Thip. The other securing a rail, treated Mr.

Lewis in the same manner, cutting an ugly gash on the head; A posse of men from Oldtown were soon on the pursuit of them, but on hearing that they were in a few yards of them conducted a masterly retreat. Craft, at this place. Fred Meyer and daughter May made a business trip to Brownstown one day last week. Aunt Sallie Ann Richards was called here Friday to the dying bedside of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Hun sucker. Margaret Hunsucker breathed her last on Friday morning at 12 o'clock, aged 59 years, 0 months and 10 days.

She united with the Christian Church some 30 years ago and remained a true and faithful member until the end. Her death is our loss but Heaven's gain. "She was united in marriage to Samuel Hunsucker 30 years ago. She was a faithful wife and a true and good mother. She leaves a husband, two nve aaugnters, one sister ana many friends to mourn her death.

On account of our worthy Superintendent being sick and our Assistant not appearing, our Sunday School was a failure last Sunday. Charles Ratclift met with a serious accident, on last Friday. A young team of niules which he was driving took fright and ran off. He is now in a critical condition. Rev.

Mauy persons whahave no idea of the nature of work done in Institute, will decry, them. Several of our citizens attended the funeral of Mrs. Samuel Hunsucker at Vallonia last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Hunsucker was highly esteemed by those who knew her, and the bereaved family have the sympathies ot the people here.

Freetown Facts and fancies. Rev. Hall filled his appointment here Sunday. Mac Brown is suffering from an attack of fever at this writing. Miss Hiva Manuel visited, inenas in Lawrence County several days last week, A.J.

McKain was home from Maumee Sunday. His work there will soon be finished. Water is becoming very scarce here, and if the dry weather continues there will be quite a demand for that article in this community. A.
