He was chairman of the FDIC from 1970-76, and also served from 1964-70 as superintendent of banks of the State of New York and chairman of the New York State Banking Board He was chairman and chief executive officer of The Greater New York Savings Bank, a position he held for seven years. Wille was also on the board of directors of the National Council of Savings Institutions and the Savings Banks Association, of New York State. Bret Starr, 24 Bret Michael Starr, the son of former NFL quarterback and coach Bart Starr was found dead in his home Thursday.

There were no signs of a struggle in the house or trauma to the body, no bullet or stab wounds and no indication of foul play, police said. Bret Starr was part owner of a wholesale exotic fish and reptile importing company called Gulf Coast Fisheries. James Kerrey, 74 James H. Kerrey, father of Democratic Senate candidate and former Gov. Bob Kerrey, died Tuesday of cancer.

Kerrey was a building contractor for many years. Al Demaret, 73 Professonal golfer Al Demaret, the younger brother of golfing Hall of Famer Jimmy Demaret, died Monday in nearby Rancho Mirage. While Jimmy Demaret was a standout on the PGA tour during the 1940s and 1950s, Al Demaret worked as a club pro in Chicago. Ralph Salvon, 60 Ralph Salvon, senior trainer in the American League and a Baltimore Orioles trainer for more than 20 years, died Thursday of complications after heart bypass surgery. IOWA DEATHS Fritz Louis, 79 Fritz William Louis, 79, of 1136 E.

Washington died Thursday at Mercy Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lone Tree Cemetery. The Rev. Albert Best will officiate.

There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated. A general memorial fund has been established. The Sorden Funeral Home in Lone Tree is in charge of arrangements. Mr.

Louis was born Jan. 21, 1909, in Iowa City, son of Henry and Mae Boyce Louis. He married Marian Anderson April 20, 1947, in Iowa City. He was a civil engineer in the Iowa City area and served in the U.S. Army during World Warll.

He was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife. Mary Madden, 49 Mass for Mary Jayne Madden will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in St, Joseph Cemetery.

The Rev. Henry Greiner will officiate. Mrs. Madden, 49, of 930 E. Jefferson died Thursday at Mercy Hospital after a long illness.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at the Donohue-Lensing Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established. She was born April 25, 1939, in Iowa City, daughter of Vincent and Irene Bock Lekin. She married Edward K.

Madden Feb. 11, 1961, in Iowa City. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, and was an operator at Northwestern Bell for 11 years. She was a member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and Women of the Moose. She is survived by her husband; her mother of Iowa City; two daughters, Debra (Mrs. Mark) Fluaitt and Tracy Madden, both of Iowa City; one brother, Jack of Iowa City; and one grandson. Her father died earlier. Brien E.
