April 29: School employees who might lose their jobs will be contacted by district officials. May 3: Budget advisory committee will receive a binder with proposed budget cuts. May 4: School board and public will get to see the full picture at a workshop dealing with non-classroom budgets.

SCHOOLS from IB ing on trying to put the district in the best financial position to continue operating in future years and "that does not translate to me keeping every job we have." Malone told members of the budget advisory committee that they would receive a binder with the proposed cuts by May 3. Malone said he would announce his recommended cuts directly to the district employees on April 28. Employees who might lose their jobs will be contacted by district officials by April 29 to give them a chance to start looking for other options for what Malone called a "soft landing." All of the recommended cuts are subject to change, so some of those contacted might not lose their jobs. Malone warned that even with all of his recommended cuts, the district has not found enough savings to balance its budget. More job cuts likely will follow.

The district has identified about $21 million in suggested cuts to the non-classroom departments, such as facilities management, Burke said. jasonschultzpbpost.com GARY CORONADOStaff Photographer Protesters from the AFL-CI0 and MoveOn rail against corporations that pay little or no taxes at a rally Monday in Boca Raton, where Donald Trump spoke two days earlier. 'She was absolutely MISS JAHANSHAHI from IB mouth. Yet, she had so much confidence and so much humor," said Sarah Blanc, a University of Florida history major who last saw her close friend two weeks ago in Palm Beach Gardens. "Her personality was addictive." Miss Jahanshahi, whose parents Nazie and Reza are engineers born in Iran, graduated from Dreyfoos in 2008.

When she was 16, she spent a night alone in the North Carolina woods as part of the Outward Bound Program. A year later, she went on a three-week trip to India and Tibet, where she volunteered to teach English. She spoke English, Farsi, French and was learning Russian. "She was absolutely fearless," said Zoe Friedland, a friend of Miss Jahanshahi who is a junior at Dartmouth College. "Whenever I was with her, I felt she knew something about life that I did not.

She was so distinct and bold." Miss Jahanshahi majored in history and political science at the University of California at Berkeley. Her plan was to study political science in Paris for a year and return to Berkeley, her mother said. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours, according to French newspapers. The cause of the fire is being investigated. Her mother said her daughter and others died because "there were no ladders to get out." A memorial is planned for 4:30 p.m.

Saturday at Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, 253 Barcelona Road, in West Palm Beach. Those who attend are asked not to wear black. A nonprofit will be set up in Miss Jahanshahi's name to buy fire-escape ladders for low-income neighborhoods. "Jasmine would not want us to feel alone. She would want us to honor her memory and depend on ourselves," Blanc said.

"We all know that and unless you're a real radical progressive, you'll have to accept that there's going to be some biting of the bullet. But you've got to increase that revenue also." The stark difference between the crowds for the tea party rally and Monday's event didn't bother MoveOn organizer John Foley. "We knew we couldn't outdraw Donald Trump," Foley said. Delray Beach pediatrician Joni Albrecht used the disparity in turnout to try to motivate activists who showed up Monday.

"The tea party had 2,000 people here on Saturday," Albrecht told the crowd. "We're here. Thank goodness everybody's here. But we need to educate, we need to get more people out here the next time, otherwise nothing's going to change." georgebennettpbpost.com Rubin Memorial Chapel, Boynton Beach. Funeral Thursday.

By GEORGE BENNETT Palm Beach Post Staff Writer BOCA RATON On the deadline day for Americans to file income tax returns, about 60 people turned out in Sanborn Square on Monday afternoon to demand that big corporations and the wealthy pay a larger share. The event, organized by labor unions and the liberal group MoveOn, came two days after a South Florida Tea Party rally with Donald Trump drew more than 2,000 people to the same site to hear a very different message.

The tea party's red-white-and-blue bunting was still hanging in the park, along with a Florida flag and a "Don't Tread On Me" Gadsden flag. Organizers of Monday's rally removed the Gadsden flag and hung their own sign saying "Tax Day Make Them Pay." The event was part of a nationwide effort to highlight corporations that paid little or no taxes for 2010. More than a dozen other events were planned across Florida. Earlier in the afternoon, a dozen demonstrators stood outside a nearby Bank of America office to protest the bank not paying any corporate income taxes for 2010. Bank of America spokesman Jerry Dubowski said the bank was in a "loss position" in 2010, but paid about $2 billion in state and local taxes for the year and has paid about $60 billion in federal, state and local taxes over the past decade. "We take our responsibilities very seriously. When we owe taxes, we pay taxes," he said.

Terry Day of Delray Beach said collecting more taxes from corporations and the wealthy isn't enough to address the federal government's $1.5 trillion deficit, but should be part of the mix.
