Norfolk Western Railway No. 1218, built after World War to handle coal, general freight and heavy passenger trains over the 'Appalachian Mountain Range, will be paying only its second visit Michigan. The excursions are called "Steam to Fort Wayne" and are sponsored by Bluewater Michigan Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. The train will consist of up to 17 air-conditioned coaches plus a 3-car premium service section, first-class sleeper-lounges, snacksouvenir cars and ah open-door baggage car that will The train will stop in the heart of the downtown festival, which is listed as one of the top 100 festival destinations in the United States. While "Steam to Fort Wayne" is being turned around and serviced, passengers will have the chance to stroll the few blocks to the popular and historic Frontier Fort, or amble through the business district and nearby art museum.

The train will depart conveniently located Thunderbowl Lanes on Allen Road just west of Outer Drive in Allen Park at 8:30 a.m. It will make a passenger stop in Milan on Saturday only at 9:15 a.m. On Sunday, it will stop in Adrian at 9:45 a.m. The return to Milan on Saturday is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. and to Adrian on Sunday, 8:15 p.m.
