The final acore was 17 0. A crowd of about 6,000 took advantage of the excellent football Weather and watched ITinceton launch a versatile but decidedly sketchy, attack of the open style that hammered tbe vtalt Ing collegians about the field until the mlildle of the. last quarter. Princeton lost yard after yard on offside penalties, and the best run of the afternoon, a dash In which Don L.uiij sprinted eighty yards without Interference through the wholu Swartlimuiu ttam, went for naught becauw of the ovei eagerness of tbe line. Louriv.

wlov played a stellar game tin ouuhuul. caught a bouncing punt on hid in lo-jranl line and dodged his way straight to the Swarthmore goal only to hav the touchdown ruled out. The Quakers showed rather better teamwork than the Tigers, but lacked the driving power In the line and the peed in the back field that Princeton had. Aside from the latter part of the final quarter, whan two forward passes and a fine open-field run opened the VsTway for their cpre, the 1'ennsy ivanians Il I 1 ltfere threatening. 1 heir atlai were unable to dent the Orange an Black line, althrtUKh the.

Oct. 2. Har-'Varsity football team played ft proverbial rings around the team Itmi the University of Maine In the Stadium this afternoon, rolling up a 41 point Bcore by means of five touchdowns ana two goais i rom uie iieia. i ne Harvard coaches used thirty players in the game and the substitutes had apparently as easy a time as the first string men. The game was not much of a test for Harvard a material, at least oti the defense.

Maine had no running attack making no first downn and. In fact, nerver getting closer to Harvard's goal line than the middle of the field, and this oniy on tha last play in the oinlr.g ieriod and on a brilliant run back of a kick-off. With no. rushing attack. Maine put the taboo sign on forward passing, not once resorting to the open game, but continually and ineffectively striving to filug Its way through or around a rush ine that was altogether superior.

Harvard completely smothered all the running football the visitors from Orono had to offer, and. save for a few brief lapses, hammered its way throun or danced: around the visiting rush line pretty murh at will. Trinity failed to make a single first down during the afternoon and had the ball uct more than a half dosen times. A 23-yard run by Fullback Hleecker in the fourth quarter was called back by Referee 8ch warts when the Hartford collegians were caught offside, this-pen aity ringing Trinity only sustained offensive to an abrupt end. Meanwhile Columbia was rolling tip twenty-three first downs, all but two by the straight est kind of football. Althuugn the Mornlngside eleven made six first downs in the first period it was held even, the first score coming In the middle of the second quarter, when Cana-pary took the ball qver from the 3-yard mark, lie kicked the goal. In this period Columbia collected seven first downs and duplicated the number In the third period, which aaw alx straight first downs and a steady march to the goal poets.

The Blue and White deviated little from Ahc straight and narrow path of football. Of the seven forwards two were successful, one of them leading to a touchdown. The rest of tbe game was a monotonous succession of first downs gained by steady smashing of tbe Hartford line.
