4, 5, 8, 10) Saturday Night at the Movies has "Topaz," an Alfred Hitchcock spy film which is far from Hitchcock at his best. John Forsythe, Frederick Stafford and Dany Robin star in this 1969 adaptation of the Leon Uris novel. (Repeat) 9-Concluslon (Ch. 7, 12, 41) The Democratic National Telethon is an special designed to raise funds for the party. More than 150 show business and sports personalities are to appear.

The Democrats are more than $9 million in debt and have scheduled the telethon to ask viewers for donations via telephones. The event Is described by Democratic officials as an effort to save the two-party system. The telethon is to be interrupted occasionally throughout the night and Sunday for news shows and local, programs. Here is a representative sampling of the performers: Edie Adams, Lauren Bacall, Burt Bacharach, Warren Beatty, Tony Bennett, Milton Berle, Raymond Burr, Red Buttons, James Caan, Carol Channing, Tim Conway, Henry Fonda, Gail Fisher, Ben Gaz-zara, Lome Greene, Rosy Grier, Gene Hackman, Florence Henderson, Paul Hornung, Jack Jones, Sally Kellerman, Abbe Lane, Shirley MacLaine, Henry a 1 1, Groucho Marx, Bob Newhart, Carroll O'Connor, Tony Randall, Carl Reiner, Debbie Reynolds, Gale a Tommy Smothers. Connie Stevens, Mario Thomas, Lily Tomlin, Leslie Uggams, James Whitmore, Andy Williams and Hank Williams Jr.

Sunday Features 12 a.m.-12 Noon (Chs. 7, 12) Democratic Telethon. 12-2 (Ch. 8) In Miami, six Democratic presidential candidates face the press on an expanded edition of Meet the Press. They are George Mc-Govern, Hubert H.

Humphrey, George Wallace, Edmund S. Muskie, Henry M. Jackson and Shirley Chisholm. 1-4 (Chs. 7, 12) Democratic Telethon.

4- 5 (Chs. 4, 8) Decision '72 previews the Democratic National Convention. Anchormen John Chancellor and David Brinkley explain how the convention will function. 5- 6 (Chs. 7, 12) ABC has a Pre-Convention Report.

Howard K. Smith and Harry Rea-soner will be in charge. 6- 7 (Chs. 2, 3, 6, 9C) Campaign '72 is a pre-convention report by CBS newsmen, with Walter Cronkite anchoring. (Chs.

4, 5, 8, 10) The Wonderful World of Disney begins a two-parter. "Hacksaw" tells of the at-tempts of a cowboy (Tab Hunter) and a girl (Sue Bracken, "Eddie Bracken's daughter) to capture a wild stallion. (Repeat) (Chs. 2, 3, 6, 9C)The CBS Sunday Night Movies re- peats a '68 science-fiction film, "Five Million Years to Earth." This stars James Donald, and is one of those tales of a gigantic monster unearthed. 8- 9 (Chs.

712) Democratic Telethon. This wrap-up features brief appearances by most of the personalities who have participated. 9- 10 (Chs. 4, 5, 8, 10) Bonanza has a good one. Candy (David Canary) has killed a man in self-defense and left the man's widow helpless.

He goes to her assistance and they find themselves falling in love. Weekend Sports SATURDAY (Ch. 4, 5, 8) Tennis. Wimbledon Men's Singles. (Ch.

2, 3, 5, 6, 9C) Baseball. Detroit at Chicago. (Ch. 4, 8, 10, 12) Baseball. Chicago at Cincinnati.

Fischer-Spassky Chess Preview; Men's Olympic Track and Field Trials. SUNDAY (Ch. 2, 3, 5, 6, 9C) Baseball. Detroit at Chicago. Saturday Features 7-9 (Ch.

7, 12) The ABC Saturday Summer Movie reruns "The Deadlv Affair." a 1967 adaption of John le, Carre's spy thriller. The cast is headed by James Mason, Simone Signoret and Maximilian Schell. (Ch. 2, 3, 6, 9e) All In the Family returns Beatrice Arthur as Cousin Maude in the spin-off for her own series, set for next season. Seems her daughter is getting married (to a fellow "of the Jewish and the Bunkers are up for the wedding.

(Repeat) 8-9 (Ch. 4, 5, 8. 10) The last Emergency! of the season has a highly suspenseful climax, with Gage (Randolph Man-tooth) and De Soto (Kevin Tighe) trying to rescue a family in a private plane which has crashed in the treetops. (Ch. 2, 3, 6, 9c) The Mary Tyler Moore Show is lots of fun again.

Murray is working nights to earn money to buy his wife a great anniver- heading Contender Sen. George McGovern of South Dakota Is going to the Democratic National Convention at Miami Beach with enough delegate votes to make him the favorite for his party's presidential nomination. The three major networks plan extensive coverage of the convention. CBS and NBC are offering gavel-to gavel telecasts Mondav evening through Thursday evening. ABC is limiting its coverage to a 90-minute digest beginning at 8:30 each evening.

9:30 10:30 (Chs. 2, 3, 6, 9C) Tonight's Cade's County marked Bobby Darin's first work after his heart surgery. He plays a schizophrenic 9-11 (Chs. 7, 12) The ABC Sunday Night Movie has "Smoky," a '66 adaptation of the Will James classic about a wild mustang. Fess Parker and Diana Hyland head the cast in this nice bit of family entertainment.
