Enquirer and News, Battle Creek, Mar. 30, 1978 A-7 Local and Area Obituaries Edmond C. Maxson Edmond C. Maxson, 68, of 4805 Yawger Road, died Wednesday in Springhill Manor, where he had been a patient six weeks. He had been ill four months.

He was born in Farina, and had been a resident of the Battle Creek area since the 1920s. He was employed by Clark Equipment Co. as a tool and die maker and retired in 1975 after 25 years of service. Before joining Clark Equipment he was superintendent of public works for the city of Olivet. He was a member of Bedford Lodge 207, and a past master of the lodge and was a member and past worthy patron of Bedford Chapter 471, OES.

He also was a member of Bedford Chapter 188, Royal Arch Masons; Calhoun Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem 24, the Clark Retirees Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Anona M. Bubb: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Holton of Sturgis; a son, Charles C. Nobles of Lansing; three grandchildren; a sister.

Mrs. Dorothy Shaw of Milton. and brothers. Clark Maxson of 27 N. 20th St.

and Russell of Tombstone. Ariz. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.

(Heinbaugh) Clymer, 88. of 207 S. Woodrow died Battle Creek Sanitarium Hospital. todasie had been ill since suffering a broken hip in a fall in December 1976. She was born in Three Rivers and came to Battle Creek in 1955 from Three Rivers.

She formerly was employed by Battle Creek Sanitarium Hospital and was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frances L. Bedford of the Woodrow Avenue address; four grandchildren, and eight great Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Chapel.

Michigan Mall Former Marshall resident found slain in New York Ward H. Criffield Ward H. Criffield, 86, a retired Battle Creek Fire Department captain, died Wednesday in Provincial House of Battle Creek, where he had been a patient since November. He was born in Cass County and came to Battle Creek in 1917 from Dowagiac. He was employed as a foreman by the Post Division, General Foods for 15 years, and then joined the Battle Creek Fire Department in 1926.

He re tired in 1952 as captain of Station No. 4 on Kendall Street. After his retirement, he was employed for three years as fire marshal for the former Oliver Corp. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church, a life member of Battle Creek Lodge 12 and a member of Battle Creek Chapter 355 OES. He was in the U.S.

Army during World War I. Surviving are his wife, the former Myrtle A. Duckworth, a patient at Provincial House Battle Creek; a son, Jack W. Criffield of Alta Loma, four grandchildren, and eight greatgrandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Mable B. (Clay) Zantop, 93, of 7900 Drive died Wednesday in Leila Hospital, Battle Creek. She was born in Eaton Rapids, and resided for many years in Parma. She was a member of the Parma United Church, a member and past noble grand of the Parma Rebekah Lodge and a former member of the Parma Review Club. She is survived by daughters, Mrs.

Milton (Thelma) Lamb of Okemos, and Mrs. Owen (Anita) Kelly of Burlington; sons. Howard Zantop of Allen Park, Duane of Ypsilanti, and Lloyd of Allen Park: 17 grandchildren, and 26 greatgrandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spencer Funeral Home, Athens.

Police and Fire Reports Clifford Haas, 42. of Coldwater remains in critical condition in Community Hospital with injuries suffered Monday when struck by a falling crane at Southwind Quincy. He was transferred to the hospital here from Branch County Community Health Center in Coldwater. An estimated $25,000 worth of damage was done to a two-story, wood-frame home near Bronson by a fire Wednesday afternoon. The house at 1008 Weaver Road is owned and occupied by Ralph Cole.

Bronson Fire Chief Charles Somerlott said that fire damage was limited to the kitchen and dining room area, but the rest of the house was damaged heavily by smoke. The cause of the fire, which began in a partition in the kitchen, remains under investigation. Preview Mrs. Clyde Brown COLDWATER Mrs. Edna R. (Garman) Brown, 93, of 58 S. Jefferson died Wednesday in Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility after a long illness.

She was born in Gilead Township and was a lifelong Branch County resident. She was a member of the Coldwater Senior Citizens Club. Her husband, Clyde Brown, died in 1962. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gillespie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cecil R. Caldwell MARSHALL Mrs. Iva Lona (Brown) Caldwell, 66, of 156 River Park Drive, died Wednesday in Marshall Manor, where she had been a patient since Jan. 24.

She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to Marshall last November. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Flushing, N.Y. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Caldwell; sons, Edward R. Caldwell of Marshall and Kenneth C.

Dunstan CHARLOTTE Harry L. Dunstan, 75, of 1107 S. Clinton died Wednesday in Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in South Dakota and moved to Charlotte eight years ago from Detroit. He was employed by Continental Motors Corp.

in Detroit until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. His wife, Martha Dunstan, died in 1977. Surviving are daughters, Mrs.

Jean LaRosa of Eagle, Mrs. Joan Teise and Mrs. Dona Merlie, both of Utica, and Mrs. Margaret Wilson of Walled Lake; a son, Robert Dunstan of Los Angeles, and 12 grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m.

Jayne Mansfield estate nearly depleted LOS ANGELES (AP) About $8.500 is all that remains of Jayne Mansfield's estate, estimated at about $516,000 when she died in a traffic accident 11 years ago. Payments to creditors and administrative expenses have reduced the size of the estate.

Miss Mansfield died without a trwill, and her estate is to be shared by three children. Earlier this week, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Jack Swink ordered that about $11,000 be paid to the estate's attorney, administrator and accountant. Charles F. Maricic Charles F. Maricic, 59, of 42 Shortridge Road, was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday at Leila Hospital, where he was taken after being stricken at his home.

He was born in St. Louis, and came to Battle Creek in 1943. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Battle Creek Township and Springfield fire departments for several years, and later was an employee of both departments. He then joined the fire department at the Air Force installation at Fort Custer and was chief of the department until 1973, when he joined the Springfield Maintenance Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a member and past president of Metropolitan Club Spirit 38 and was a member and past president of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 533.

Surviving are his wife. the former Marguerite H. Crane; a son, Nicholas Maricic of 107 Apperson Road; two grandchildren, and a brother, Paul J. Maricic of Anderson, Ind. Services will be held at 11 a.m.

Morgan, 81, of 10180 4-Mile Road, died Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Carl E. (Marilyn) Anderson, of 3765 Drive where he was residing because of ill health. He was born in Wayne County and came to Battle Creek at the age of 16. He was employed by Post Division, General Foods Corp.

for 32 years and retired in 1962. His wife, the former Margaret Lillie, died in 1962. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Anderson, are a son, William E. Morgan of Chicago; daughters, Mrs.

Harold L. Drumm MARSHALL Harold L. Drumm, 86. of Greenville, and formerly of Marshall, died Wednesday in Greenville. He was born in Jackson County, and farmed for many years in the Marshall area until moving to Greenville in 1973.

His wife, Nora Drumm, died in 1960. He is survived by a son, Russell Drumm of Marshall: a sister, Mrs. Esther Mae Richardson, address unknown, and brothers. was found by two boys searching for lost puppies in a pile of fenceposts, New York State Police said. Chautaqua County Coroner Anson Steward said her face was battered and that she may have been raped. Police said death was caused by strangulation. Mrs. Brown was last seen Sunday night at a tavern about a mile from where her body was found, police said.

A native of New York, Mrs. Brown lived in the Marshall area from 1968-74. During that time, she was employed as an auditor for Win Schuler's Restaurants Inc. She returned to New York after her divorce from Ronald W. Brown in 1974.

Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Brocton Central Schools and was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary of John W. Dill Post in Brocton. She is survived by a son, Ronald W. Brown her parents, William E.

Traverse 35 24 Sturgis man acquitted of falsifying mortgage GRAND RAPIDS (AP) It took a federal court jury only 30 minutes to acquit a former Sturgis Savings Loan official of charges that he falsified a mortgage. Ronald G. Stanard's acquittal Wednesday came after a two-day trial. The charge claimed Stanard drafted a false mortgage in 1973 after buying property from Rama Pierson for $35,000.

But Mrs. Pierson told the jury she never read documents Stanard gave her to sign after the land deal. She said she signed the papers without reading them and did not learn until 1976 one of them was a mortgage. By then. she said the mortgage was in default.

At the time of the 1973 transaction, Stanard was the savings and loan company's managing officer.
