Donald Ray Tuck married Hattie Mae North on Nov. 29, 1944, in a cancflefight ceremony at First Methyl odist J The open house was scheduled I early to enable the Tucks' "south-for- the-winter" friends to share in the celebration. I The open house will be hosted by I their children: son and daughter-in- law, Kim and Marylene Tuck; daugh-l ter and son-in-law Shelley and Harold I Vogt; and son-in-law Gordon Kissin-" ger. Their eldest daughter, Kathleen 1 Kissinger, died in May 1994. They also have six grandchildren. I Donald and Hattie Tuck are Battle Creek natives, each graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1941. He worked at Sears before serving I ZVi years in the U.S. Army during World War IL SgL Tuck, a chief of I section in the 412th battalion of the ; 20th Armored Field Artillery Divi- sion, was sent to Europe to serve un-t der Gen. George Patton. In 1946, he returned to Sears, be- coming division manager of the paint department He was employed there j for 36 years before retiring in 1976. ' She worked at Muir Drugs," the George Rich Manufacturing Co. and I Kellogg Co. before raising their fam-; fly. She rejoined the workforce in 1 1961 as a teller at Peoples Savings and Loan (now Mutual Savings). She ? advanced to branch manager of the Lakeview office before retiring in 1 1977. Most of the Tucks' activities are ; linked with First United Methodist Church, where Don has been a life member. They each sing in the Sanc-t tuary Choir and belong to the "Mel-I low Methodists" service group. For 4Y2 years, they have been j crew leaders every fourth Monday at j the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. He is a lay speaker, certified by the West Michigan Methodist Confer-ence. He often leads worship services ' when pastors are on vacation. I She is past president of the United Methodist Women and is a member I of Martha Circle. I He formerly played cello in the I Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra ; and stiH plays both the cello and giri-jtar.
