The gym was decked out like an Egyptian court complete with soldiers, slaves and royal performers. Maids were: Miss Lana Brown, Miss Marlene Sue Phillips, Miss Justine Vroman and Miss Sharon Kay Walts.

William Allen Shortal. football captain, escorted the queen to the throne. The retiring queen was escorted by Gary Griffith. Escorting the maids were Lawrence Davis, Robert Fisher, Martin Mellor and William Wishlinski. Members of the school's gymnastic team, who performed for the court, were Richard Calame, David Disher, James Greer, David Gunter, Gary Hartstock, Terry Haydon, Lonnie McCoy and Earl Tomblingson.

The band played "The Grand Procession" and "Exodus" and accompanied the choir. Members of the Girls Glee Club sang Song of Egypt," and the choir sang "You Are Love," "Desert Song" and "El Hivenh Haglil" an Egyptian song which added to the atmosphere of the court. Miss Gloria Newlum sang a solo of "Long Ago and Far Away." Miss Judy Maguire performed a baton solo entitled "The Priestess of the Twirling Lights." Other members of the royal court were: Robert Gibson, ald: Lester Brooks III, minister; Thomas De Gerlia, equerry; and Charles Colclasure, messenger. Hospital Treats Five One person was admitted and five were treated released from Wood River Township Hospital over the weekend. Admitted was Mrs. Jeanette M. McCracken, 81, of Olin Homes, Smith East Alton, for injuries to the right shoulder and elbow incurred when she fell off a curb in front of Olin homes. She is in fair condition.

Treated and released were: Julie Williams, 11, of 237 E. Airline East Alton for an injury to the mouth incurred when she fell off a bicycle and ran into a post near a neighbor's home. Dale Eugene Barker, 3, of 625 Bowman East Alton, abrasions to the right lower eye lid incurred when he was by a dog. Patrick C. Schlitt, 32, of 801 West Ninth Washington, for a laceration to the middle finger incurred when he cut the finger with a razor blade box opener a at work.

Joseph Campo, 63, of 365 South 10th Wood River, for a ture wound to the right hip incurred when he stepped on a nail at Chain of Rocks parking lot. Mrs. Althea J. wife of F. Stillman Elfred. Peabody Coal board chairman, and former executive vice president of Olin Mathieson, died Sunday at a.m. in St. Anthony's Hospital following a long illness.

Mrs. Elfred had lived In Alton since the retirement of her from Olin Mathieson in 1958. Previously she had been in New York and Hollywood. A former screen star in the days of the silent movies, Mrs. Elfred had been a E.

leading lady in silent pictures with the late Gary Cooper and Tom Mix. Her screen name was Betty Jewel. She had been first married the late M. A. Schlessinger, head of the Schlesinger Enterprises in South Africa.

Mrs. Elfred had traveled extensively before coming to Alton. She had been to Africa numerous times and had made eral trips around the world. She had been interested in numerous charitable organizaItions to which she had contribu-Ital. ted much of her time and talent.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a step-daughter, Mrs. Rodman A. St. Clair of New Haven, and two Stillman Elfred Clair, a student at Notre Dame, and Rodman Allen St. Clair, who is attending tory school at New Haven, Mrs.

Adcock Frank Adcock, 92, of Nilwood died in Carlinville Hospital 1:30 p.m. Saturday after a long! Illness. He was admitted to the hospital Wednesday. Mr. Adcock, a retired er, was born near Girard.

Survivors include his wife, Millie, four daughters: Mrs. Bertha Wallis and Mrs. Mae Kuntz, both Springfield; Mrs. Lois Shipp and Mrs. Gladys Hughes.

A civil engineer employed here by the firm of Sheppard, Morgan and Schwaab at the time of his death, he had served a total of 16 years as city engineer for the He was a graduate of Rose Polytechnic Institute of Terre Haute, a practicing engineer for 50 years and had made his home in Edwardsville since 1939, having previously resided at Litchfield.

Born Dec. 27, 1889 at Rockville, a son of the late Joseph Francis and Mary Ann Woods Cronin, he was married Sept. 9, 1916 to the former Miss Bertha Arnold of Terre Haute, who survives. Burial will be in Godfrey Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be after 5 p.m. today. Wegman Mrs. Gladys Pearl Wegman, wife of Chauncey president of Wegman Electric Wood River, died at 3 a.m.

Sunday in St. Anthony's HospiShe was 66. Mrs. Wegman had been hospitalized since Aug. 20.

She had been a patient for three weeks in St. Luke's Hospital, St. Louis, following surgery, and then entered St. Anthony's Hospital. She was born in St.

Louis. Aug. 21, 1896. where she lived until September of 1927 when she moved to Wood River. Since 1949 she had lived at 273 S.

9th Rosewood Heights. Her marriage to Mr. Wegman took place Sept. 21, 1919, at Murphysboro. Surviving beside her husband are a daughter, Mrs.

June Echols, and two sons, Robert and Donald, Rosewood Heights; three brothers, Edward J. White, St. Louis, Frank and Chester, St. Calire, Mo. Two brothers and two sisters died previously.

Mrs. Wegman was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Wood River, and funeral rites Tuesday at 2 p.m. will be conducted in the church followed by burial in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The body is at Marks Mortuary, Wood River, where friends may call after 6 p.m. today and until 11 a.m.

Tuesday when the body will be taken to the church. The Cancer Society has been named as a memorial fund. McCormick Mrs. Lucile W. McCormick, resident of Alton until nine years ago when she moved to Toledo, Ohio, died Saturday at 8 p.m.

in a Toledo hospital following an illness of 9 months. She was the wife of F. A. McCor mick, who is in the engineering department of the Toledo plant of Owens Illinois. The body has been returned! to Alton for funeral services Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The former Lucile Wright, Mrs. McCormick was born in Alton, May 12, 1901, to the late Frank Wright and the late Mrs. Melvina Harr Wright Meyer. Mr. McCormick had been affiliated with Cherry Street Bap-1 tist Church a number of years ago.

She attended the Alton Schools and was graduated from Ursuline Convent Business School. Her marriage to Mr. McCormick took place in 1934 (in Alton. Survivors beside her husband are a son, Donald H. Kill of Brevard, N.C., and a sister, Mrs.

Eden Cleve Eden, a former long time Altonian, died Saturday at 11:40 p.m. In St. Vincent's Hospital. Taylorville, where he had been a patient for seven weeks. Before moving to Taylorville, two and one-half years ago, Mr.

Eden had been employed for six years as a fireman at St. Joseph's Hospital, and prior to that had worked at the carpenter trade for a number of years in Alton area. He was born March 15, 1885, at Malden, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Eden.

He moved to Alton at the age of 18.
