He was born Dec.

17, 1959, in Ridgefield, Ohio, to Wendell and Caroline (Jones) Jacobs. He was the director of sales for The Sprinkler Guys in Waukesha, Wis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He played Santa Claus at many peoples' homes and organizations.

He was an avid sports fanatic and loved dogs. He also had trained horses for many years and was a member of the Hackney Pony Association. Survivors include his life's companion, Linda Petlak of Harvard; a daughter, Kellie Jacobs of Canton, Ohio; and four siblings, Sue Z. (Sherwin) Cody of Canton, Dale Jacobs of Canton, Marc Jacobs of New York and Carol Cottril of Canton. Other people who loved him include Joshua Bacon; Karalynn, Brad, Lily and Holly Cromeens of Houston; Amy Zimmerman of Harvard; George and Edna Garbacz, Roger and Karen Garbacz and Bill Garbacz, all of McHenry; Tracy and Scott Esposito of Crystal Lake; Jeffrey and Quentin of Waukesha, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

PELL LAKE, Wis. Jacki Maxwell, 60, of Pell Lake, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Mount Carmel in Burlington, Wis. She was born Oct. 12, 1947, in Waukegan, to Richard and Anna (Krase) Toll.

She was a longtime beautician, and her clients would follow her anywhere she went. She enjoyed her Harley, her friendships, and the Native American heritage. Survivors include her son, Adam (Kim) Ruiz of McHenry; two grandsons, Jacob and Dakota; her mother, Ann Toll of Palatine; her sister, Marti (Kevin) Callahan of Palatine; her niece, Kerri; and her nephew, Ryan. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard. The memorial service will be at 7 p.m.

6, 2008, at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was, born Sept. 30, 1914, in Union, to Henry and Edith Miller. He married Gladys Penney in Marengo in 1951.

He was a U.S. Navy World War veteran. He was a hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman who loved his dogs immensely. Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Rod (Irene) Poppe of Marengo, Deb (Steve) Klemmer of Geneseo, Steve (Mary) Penney of Cedar Rapids, lowa, Richard (Vicki) Penney of Sarasota, Jay (Georgine) Penney of Augusta, Linda Lawrence of Los Angeles and Pat (Carol) Penney of Sacramento; his sister-in-law, Joan Penney of Geneseo; and his special family, the Pfeiffers of Marengo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys, in 2000; and his sister, Elda Poppe.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo.

Pahlke, 89, of Burton's Bridge, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at her home. She was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Barrington, to Peter and Catherine Balmes. She worked for Illinois Bell for 30 years as an operator and supervisor.

She was a member of Our Lady Rosary Makers, having made thousands of rosaries. She was a seamstress, having made numerous wedding gowns. She loved sewing, knitting and reupholstering. She loved animals and was an avid birdwatcher. She enjoyed wintering in Arizona.

Survivors include her husband, Newton W. Pahlke, whom she married Aug. 25, 1941, in Barrington; two children, Catherine Pahlke of Burton's Bridge and Kent (Elizabeth) Pahlke of Spring Grove; four grandchildren, Michelle (Dan) Robacewski, Michael Pahlke, Matthew (Kristy) Pahlke and Melissa Pahlke; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Lynn Pahlke; a sister, Bernadine Eichenberger; and a brother, Gerald Balmes. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Balmes, and a sister, Patricia Balmes-Nellessen. The visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 10, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary, at St. Pius the Shrine, 30 Miller Road, Lake Zurich. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

He was an antique-car enthusiast, a member of the BPOE (Elks Club), and a generous friend to many. 5, 2008, Janette D. "Jan" Wilson, 55, died as she had wished at her home in Crystal Lake, from pancreatic cancer. She was born Aug. 24, 1952, in Vermillion, S.D., to Richard D. Harshfield and Trudy (Vandersluis) Harshfield.

The family lived in Rockford for many years. She was the sister of Vickie Harshfield, Rick Harshfield and Barb Grammer. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1974 and was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She worked for many years in banking and finance, including for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. While living in Lake Bluff, she volunteered as a Lake Bluff Parent Teacher Organization treasurer, a Girl Scout leader, and a youth program leader at Christ Church Lake Forest.

In Crystal Lake, she enjoyed creating and keeping a garden with her husband, Bob. Her thoughtful, caring and generous spirit touched many lives. She was the loving wife of 27 years of Bob Wilson and the devoted mother of Lindsay, Karen, Julie and Joey Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents. The memorial service will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 12, at Christ Church Lake Forest, 100 N. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest. The service will be followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Kids Hope United, 111 E.
